Hey guys, Sean with American Window Concepts and today I have a question.
Do vinyl windows only last five years?
Well, let's find out.
I'm online a lot and I'm looking at information about windows.
I mean, it's in my best interest.
I'm in the window business.
One of the things that I had seen was a person asking how long should a vinyl window last
and the response was five, maybe 10 years.
My response to that would be, if you get the cheapest window possible, maybe.
I'm always going to promote the high grade vinyl window.
That's all I'm going to sell.
It's all I'm going to provide any of my customers and so that's what I would suggest to you,
anybody who's in the market of buying windows.
In other videos I've shown or talked about very, very inexpensive vinyls that come from
out of the States.
And more times than not, you're going to have issues with the powdering of the vinyl turning
yellow.
Just overall, really, really bad grade of vinyl.
It's just not great.
Yeah, there are windows that can last five years, six years, 10 max if you take really
good care of them.
And then there's also vinyl windows out there that are going to last you a lifetime practically.
There's just Anlin windows, Milgard windows.
A lot of these really, really great windows that are vinyl are going to last you a very,
very long time.
They're not meant to get installed and then a few years later just bonk out on you.
When I read that, I was like, okay, let's make a video on that because a lot of people
who are looking up windows online, they might see these exact same things and think, well,
I guess vinyl's crap so I'm going to go look for something else.
Well, that's not entirely true.
I mean, you can find a crappy vinyl window or you can get a very, very good vinyl window.
So some of the things that I would think of as far as a consumer, if I'm looking at replacement
vinyl windows, what you want to do is, is anybody who you invite into your home to get
estimates from, find out where they're manufactured from, find out where they get the materials
from, the warranty, because you're not going to get a lifetime warranty on something that's
only going to last five years.
I mean, that would be crazy.
Any great window manufacturer is going to give a lifetime warranty, labor is included,
for any time anything needs to get repaired or fixed, you know, anything mechanical is
going to break down at some point.
So you want to make sure that you're covered for that.
And a lot of these really, really great companies will take good, good care of their customers.
But if you're asking questions, they're like, oh yeah, it's got like a five-year warranty
or it's got, you know, a few years.
You go and you pull off some windows at, you know, at the shelf of some big box stores,
it's one year.
If that, if that.
So that's got to tell you a little something about, you know, the durability of the window
that you're looking at.
Is it cheap?
Yeah, sure.
It's cheap, but it's priced right for what you're going to get, right?
It's not going to last.
It's not going to take good, good care of you for the long haul.
Well, guys, thank you so much for tuning in and watching this video.
Hopefully this helped out.
