Good morning guys! I'm super excited to take you all along on what a productive
morning looks like for me when I'm getting up at 6 a.m. This definitely
doesn't happen every day but I find having the extra time in the morning of
a busy day helps me set the best start.
I've been trying to start off my day with chugging down some water.
Apparently room-temperature water is better for you in the morning so that's
why I leave my bottle out overnight. Like many people, I'm in the habit of
reaching for my phone first thing and so I'm trying to break that habit. I find
checking social media and YouTube analytics, all that first thing in the
morning never sets me off right.
Alexa, good morning.
And so today I'm just gonna concentrate on getting my body moving.
A way to make it easier is leaving clothes out the night before. A lot of the time I find it
hard to find the motivation to work out so getting it done first thing out of
the way in the morning makes me feel really good.
This is like the oldest trick in the book but splashing your face with water
honestly does help wake you up a bit.
I also love mixing up different ways of working out so this morning I was gonna
go skipping. This is definitely a bit of a fun one and even though it's really
cold for like the first 30 seconds, it gets my body working, it gets me sweating.
I just do this for 10 minutes to get my heart rate up and then move on to a home
workout. So I have been trying out the Pamela Reef home workout plan and so far
it has been so fun. Super hard but fun and I just love starting off my day with
this. Each day concentrates on a different part of the body. Don't get me
wrong, there are days where I am fully not in the mood but I know I'll always
feel so much better after and I like to remind myself that it literally only takes
20 to 30 minutes of my day. It makes a huge difference to my mindset for the
rest of the day.
It's bathroom time. By this point hopefully I am a bit sweaty. Oh and I've
recently got a shower speaker. It just makes showers so much more fun. Some
mornings I'll listen to a podcast but today I just felt like blurring out some
Shawn Mendes.
So Estrid kindly gifted me this razor. This video isn't sponsored or anything
but I thought I would just feature it. It is my favorite razor and it's vegan and
cruelty-free. So this is just the shampoo and conditioner that I typically use.
Nothing crazy, nothing too exciting. On a day-to-day basis my skincare is super
simple. I do actually want to add a bit to it but anyway I go in with this
cleanser from Simple. I find that using it on the cleansing brush for a deeper
clean without being like too aggressive on my skin. I know everybody uses this
but it's the ordinary niacinamide and zinc formula. I feel like I'm always
saying that wrong. I don't really know like what this is but it definitely does
help keep my skin clearer.
Today was a filming slash working from home kind of day so joggers it is of
course but I felt like this shirt kind of dressed up a little bit. The shirt is
from Hollister and the joggers are from ASOS. Even on days where I am just at
home all day there's something so nice about putting on jewelry and perfume. It
just makes me feel a hundred percent more put together.
So this is where getting up at 6 a.m. makes a huge difference and for me it's
worth it. I have time to have a slower morning, have some me time, just wake up
naturally and it reduces the possibility of me just feeling a bit more
anxious throughout the day. So here I'm just making some lemon water. I know this
looks very very basic but I'm pretty sure it does have a load of benefits for you
drinking it in the morning. However I honestly just really like the taste of
it and that's why I just felt like being a bit bougie today. One of the most
difficult things about getting up early is that it is still dark so this is a
really nice point in the morning where you're watching the Sun come up and I
like to take this time just to sit down with pen and paper and plan out my day.
I've definitely been more into like paper planning as opposed to digital
planning. On a day like this when I have some big tasks I do need to get done
just a lot on my mind it helps a lot to get it all out on paper and it just
makes it feel a lot more manageable. Also a little thing I sometimes do is I'll
include like the easy first steps of the day that I've already completed this
morning just so that I have that sense of reward and like you're already on
track.
By this point I am feeling very hungry and so oatmeal tends to be my go-to
breakfast just because it fills me up so much, it's yummy, it's easy to make. I also
find I snack less throughout the day if I have had oatmeal in the morning so
that helps me not get as distracted when I'm working.
Deciding on toppings is definitely my favourite bit and today I decided to treat myself to
something very naughty but yeah I put some chocolate in the middle because why
the hell not. If you haven't tried this give it a go, the oatmeal melts the
chocolate and yet just look at how satisfying this is.
Another advantage to getting up early is doing the little boring chores which are
bottom of my priority list to be honest. I feel a lot better when they're done so
like laundry, kitchen was in absolute state from last night so just taking
time to put dishes away, to clean surfaces.
I'm a big fan of Sephora, I like to just put a couple capsules into my sink which
is full of water and it makes your whole house smell nice.
Okay, yes, coffee. I've been trying not to have coffee like first thing in the
morning just so I'm not relying on it to wake me up but I am a huge fan of the
taste of coffee. This was actually my first time making a cold brew so we left
aims in the morning is just to get to my desk at 9. On a day like this I was just
sort of easing in with work like replying to comments, replying to emails,
planning out today's video. I've definitely gotten a lot better with that,
it helps just to make better content. And then since I was filming today it meant I
had to make time to put on a bit of makeup. On days that I'm filming I will
go a bit heavier with makeup. Oh and yes, The Ordinary is making a second
appearance in this video. If you haven't tried their makeup, get on that. I
absolutely love their coverage foundation.
I forgot to have this earlier. This is the only supplement, vitamin, I take in
the morning. I'm definitely someone who's prone to UTIs. Sorry if that's TMI but
these little capsules in the morning help a lot. And then I know what I just
said about having oatmeal fills me up for the day and I don't need a snack but
I do love a little protein smoothie in the morning and since I was gonna be
having a long filming day, I was filming my closet clean-out today, I needed a bit
of a boost.
Guys, thank you so much for watching my morning, my morning routine, whatever you
want to call this. I hope you found this enjoyable, relaxing. Don't forget to
subscribe if you haven't already and yeah, I love you guys. Stay safe, be kind
