The build has started! No more tearing down but putting up my first walls for the future WC room. I moved to Sweden, bought an old cabin in the forest and am renovating it on my own. Follow me for updates as I try to make this place a cute home for myself. (Featuring probably a lot of things going wrong and also a lot of trees.) Oh my goodness. This is making my life so much easier. Oh, amazing. It's just been terrifying
to think about using such a huge, powerful machine, but it's kind of like really critical
to have if you're building a house, because my kitchen is wobbly, because I was hand-towing
everything. So I'm really excited. This is going to make all the difference. And also
it's so fast. Okay. Happy days. This section of the build is going to be the toilet. There
will be a compost toilet here with the ventilation going outside on this wall. And there'll be
on that side. Because the toilet needs to have a P-bucket, I'm going to have to create
a tiny cellar. I'm going to do that down here. As you can see, the floor build-up is kind
of different in all of these different areas because I did not have enough material. I
did not think that I was going to have to replace this entire section. The floor in
the toilet is going to be just a little bit lower, which is fine. Everything else is going
to be the same. It is so fast. I'm so happy that, you know, sewing my cuts are going to
improve so much just by having this machine.
Hey!
I love these rocks. I'm just surrounded by these rocks and they're so amazing. Rocks
and moss. Pine trees. See, I would love to have a bit of forest and build a cabin right
in the middle of it. I mean, I have a cabin in the forest, but it's more like a small
house with a garden surrounded by forest, not a cabin in the forest. Slight difference.
But my project is finally going somewhere. I feel like I'm making a bit of progress that
I've been waiting for. Today I'm going to continue fixing this wall. So this wall has
these vertical logs and then it used to have these 30mm planks running horizontally. I
cannot, for the life of me, find planks in the same size to replace them. These old ones,
they're stuck. Trust me, I tried many, many, many, many times to take these off. I cannot.
There's too many giant nails. So they are staying. So what I'm going to do instead is
actually create a framework, put insulation and then the final wall finish.
My first wall! That is so cool!
All right, so I'm making this little toilet room and I've decided that, for some reason,
it doesn't work out as a toilet. We have options. It's either going to be a walk-in
closet for the clothing I don't own with a mini wine cellar or a pantry, a freezer pantry for
winter because it's cold. And I think these options are really good. So even if this toilet
thing doesn't work out because I got the cheapest compost toilet you can buy on the market right
now, we have options. Either way, this room is going to be a really cool room.
This is extra support for an internal cabinet I'm going to add into this room down here.
So this is the only room that's going to have gypsum board on the inside,
just to keep costs down. And then I can have one room that I can paint.
I'm going to add insulation and gypsum board and this is all going to be
closed and we're going to have a wall soon, which is very exciting.
Yeah, I bought this from Send Me The Wrong Ones. I bought 45mm insulation,
but they gave me 90mm so I have to cut it in half, which is really not very easy.
Fiberglass is a lot easier than this. It's time to continue renovating. I feel like I haven't
done anything in a while. I've just been busy working and editing. So here we are.
I'm going to finish this little room. I'm going to fix that one. I need to
cut it to size first, it doesn't fit. Then this side and that little bit, I guess.
I have one tip. If you're cutting gypsum board, make sure you cut it correct the first time around
because trimming the edges is very time consuming.
I kind of finished this room. I'm absolutely baffled by the fact that I made a room and I
made walls. It's really exciting to build things. I managed to put all the plasterboard up in this
room and I did a few other things as well. I have all of these little slats,
which I'm going to put up in all of the corners and skirting corners.
So I've got a bit of detailing on it. I need to get a stain for that.
But the plasterboard I'm actually going to, well first I need to mud and tape it.
And it's currently too cold to do it. I did buy all of the materials and so I'll mud and tape
and I really want to paint this room a dark green. On the other side of this lobby area,
I'm going to have a joinery unit which will be made of MDF, which will also be dark green.
So I want to go and get some paint. I don't live anywhere near a store that has affordable paint,
so I need to see when and where I can do this. Obviously it needs a door as well.
So that means that this room is kind of finished, but it's really not finished.
