Hello and welcome to our tiny little washroom.
This is our beautiful Airstream washroom.
A lot of you guys have been asking about it,
so we wanted to go into more detail and share with you about this three foot by
five foot, 15 square foot space that may seem small to you,
but it actually does everything that we need.
It feels big because we have a plexiglass window that's in a lot of light and it
just, it's perfect. It really is perfect.
And I haven't felt like it's been too small.
So I'm going to take you on a little tour,
kind of talk about the functionality of everything and the placement of
everything and just go into more detail about our little space.
The countertops I am absolutely obsessed with.
It is old barn wood from a barn that's over a hundred years old.
My brother-in-law gave to us and it's been refurbished and it's all over the,
all over the Airstream. It also has a water base, um,
polish over it to protect it from mold and other spills and such.
We have this little area here. We just added a cute little plant.
We've put several plants in the Airstream and it's really brought in life,
which has felt, has felt really nice. It's made it feel more homey in here.
We actually have a lot of counter space.
We decided to go with a smaller sink so we could have more counter space and the
sink is really tiny, but it's, it's,
it's good enough for washing your hands, brushing your teeth.
I get a little messy when I'm washing my face in here.
So I actually like to do it in the kitchen. So for that reason,
I kind of wish we went with something a little bit bigger,
but I do appreciate it because of all the counter space we have.
I won't go into much detail about the products that we use cause that can be a
whole other video. If you guys are interested, let me know.
But I do make my own toothpaste, which is here.
This here is a air freshener or body mist, whatever you want to,
you want to call it. It doesn't smell in this washroom when you go number one or
two, which I'll talk about shortly, but I like to have nice smelling things.
So you can spray the, spray the air, spray your body. I made it.
It's sandalwood distilled water and pillow Santa.
I will be going into more detail about these natural products that I have been
making in another video. We have this space down here.
We have two different wicker baskets. Um, this is Sia stuff.
This is my stuff. There's our body products, face products,
anything we want to put in there, deodorant perfumes.
And then we have some room for our toilet paper as well as a spray bottle.
This is our compost toilet and this water,
water and essential oil combination is used to spray it after you've taken a
beat or a poop just to, you know, clean off the surface. So there's no,
no marks. How did the compost toilet work?
I'll briefly tell you because again, we're in another video.
We're going to show you how to clean it out.
Everything that you're going to want to know about a compost toilet.
But briefly, if you got a pee, you do it as,
so this is how the toilet looks when you sit down and it goes into these two
little holes and into this bucket here, which is actually almost full,
which means I have to dump it soon. But the P goes in one area.
The poop goes in another area. They're cleaned out separately.
The P is cleaned about every two to three days.
We have to dump it and the poop can be like three weeks to even a month before
we have to change it up again. If you have to go number two,
there's a little lever lever lever here.
You just push it down this little area opens and you just,
you know, relief,
relieve yourself into this little hole and close it back up.
Give it a spray and there's a crank as well just below the lever and you just
turn it a couple of times and it mixes your,
your stool with coconut shavings and cedar shavings.
Eventually that can turn into soil and you can just throw it into a garden.
Now going back to the smell, compost toilets do not smell.
And I have noticed and Sia has noticed as well who's behind the camera that
flush toilets when we're in anyone's house or public washroom smells like
significantly compared to a compost toilet that doesn't at all.
The reason why it doesn't smell is because we have a fan.
So there's this little switch on the side here that's always up and that means
the fan is on and we have a tube that is down here and that is attached to the
compost toilet as well as a vent that leads to the outdoors.
There is the option of putting this tube on the left side of the toilet or the
right depending on where you put your compost toilet in your washroom.
But basically what it does is it sucks out the moisture from inside the toilet
so there is no smell. Beside our toilet, it is a nature's head toilet,
by the way, we have a little stool and this opens and stores really nicely as
well cause it's very compact. But there we go.
Put the stool right beside the toilet or under the toilet.
You can put your feet on there and this helps with bowel movements.
If you've never tried to take a bowel movement, I'm just gonna say poop.
If you haven't taken a poop using a stool, I highly recommend it.
It makes everything flow a lot easier.
We have a garbage can that is right beside the toilet, which I don't like.
I want a smaller one cause it takes up a lot of space.
But we use that for if you're taking a pee,
put the toilet paper in the garbage can. But we, when we take a poop,
we put our toilet paper in the compost toilet. Some people don't do that.
We do.
I would suggest that if you are to get the thinnest type of toilet paper so that
it can break down a lot easier.
I'm now sitting in the shower.
So this shower has a seat and we had to get a seat.
Originally I wanted it just like all the way open,
but we had to go with a hot water tank.
So we have a six gallon hot water tank here. I wanted to go tankless,
which would take up less room. But just in the configuration of this place,
we, we had to go with this and it made more sense and I'm actually happier
because now we can hold six gallons of hot water that's heated by propane and we
can take essentially a 12 minute hot shower here.
I don't have to sit.
I can actually stand and I'm fully extended.
My head's like just barely making it.
Like my fingers kind of touch. If I go above, I'm also wearing a hat,
but I can fully have a shower. If I want to wet my hair,
I have to duck a little bit, but this is like, great.
I can wash my whole body and I actually like sitting.
Sitting is nice because then it's like it's easier to like wash your legs and
wash your feet and it's not that small and it's contained.
Some RV showers I've seen,
they're like over the toilet and over the sink and everything gets wet.
Meanwhile,
we have a shower curtain that can close and closes off any,
any water so that this side is wet. That side is dry.
We chose to go with a blue penny tile. Now these, I mean it,
they weren't stuck on individually. These are like actual square tiles and then
you just put grout in between them and they,
they really add like a nice beautiful look to this place.
Really like brightens it up,
adds a lot of color and we had this ledge installed so that we could put all of
our items on here. Uh, and this, this wall was built. Well,
everything was built, but this wall was completely built from scratch.
We wanted the plexiglass in here because I feel like it would be a little closed
off and it'd be a little darker and a little more like,
I don't know, claustrophobic. This really opens it up so I can see outside.
That window, this window, I can see the fan. You know, if you're,
if you're showering first,
you can like wave to the person who's just waking up in bed.
If you're tall, they'll cover your boobs. Yeah.
My nipples are right here. My nipples would be showing, but I mean,
who cares? You're with your partner. It doesn't really matter.
But if you have guests over, they gotta be comfortable with you.
This shower head is actually a one gallon per minute flow,
which means that one gallon of water goes through this in a minute.
Whereas your regular shower head in a regular home would,
would be like half of that. So it would come through way faster.
Uh, but we,
we still have a lot of pressure with this and we can take essentially longer
showers using less water. And these actually aren't copper.
They were sprayed copper and it looks perfect. Like I had,
I would have no idea that this was sprayed copper under the sink is some
storage.
So we have this here with a whole bunch of like hair products and deodorant and
shaving products.
But what's behind it is our plumbing.
This is from this sink. This is our hot water, our cold water.
And this is actually the air vent that Kristen explained from the toilet.
So that air vent is coming through here.
It's looping into the air vent from our water tanks and then going all the way
out. This switch down here is actually for the water heater.
The water heater that's under my seat right now can be heated by electrical or
propane. We flick this switch,
then it would take some time for the water to heat up probably about half an
hour for the water to heat up through electrical and through propane.
You heat it from the outside and that takes about like 10 minutes.
That is it for our washroom tour.
We're going to be giving you guys a tour of every single area.
We have a little office, we have our bedroom, we have the dining room,
the kitchen and then the exterior. So tons more coming your way.
We're working on the budget breakdown so you guys know exactly how much all of
this costs. But there was a lot of expenses,
so it's taken a lot of time to compile it all.
But thank you guys for watching. Leave a comment.
Let us know like what area you guys want to see next and may the next area win.
