Hey everyone, it's Jenna. Welcome or welcome back to my channel. In today's video I'm going to show
you how I refresh my home for spring and these are just going to be some really simple, easy,
subtle, and budget-friendly swaps that you can do to really refresh and renew your space as we enter
into this new season. So I'm going to show you guys what I do throughout the inside of my home
and then also a couple things that I do out on the patio since we've had a little bit of warmer
weather lately. So I'm excited to share this one with you guys and without further ado let's get
into the decorating. Okay so the first place I wanted to start was our guest bathroom and this
is the bathroom that everyone sees when they come over and it has just gotten to be a weird hodgepodge
of winter and fall decor. The style in here has kind of lost its unity so I just wanted to make
a couple small changes to refresh it and bring it back to life. So the first thing I started with
was a vintage stool. I figured having this here would really help warm up the space and break up
the white. Two things that you can always add to a bathroom to make it feel more spa-like are wood
and plants so you can never go wrong with either of those. So I went to Target and I checked out
some of their new faux potted plants from their spring collection since my bathroom has hardly
any natural light and I really love this rosemary one and I also love the flowering thyme one.
Super cute they both look really realistic and I love the rustic pots that they come in so
I just popped the rosemary one on my stool to complete that little styling moment and I absolutely
love how that came out. So right when I thought I was done I realized the empty spot above our towel
pegs kind of bothered me so I had a little light bulb moment and decided this would be a perfect
spot to add a small simple piece of artwork. So I came across this really pretty picture frame at
Home Goods and I thought that the rustic look of it would play really nicely off of the vintage
stool. So I found this gorgeous painting digital download on Etsy for under four dollars and then
I just printed it out at home on my home printer. Super cheap and easy for an added authentic look
you can totally print this out on watercolor paper which is what I did and this is really fun
because they have such a wide variety of digital downloads on Etsy. You're still supporting artists
and it makes it really easy to find something you love that matches your room style and color scheme
and a little hack when you're hanging artwork I just take a tiny little piece of painter's tape
and pop it on the center of the hanging hardware and then I just take my frame and center it how
I want and press down really hard and that will leave the little piece of painter's tape on the
wall so you know right where to put your nail or screw into the wall. And after hanging it I
absolutely love how this piece of artwork really completes this space. I feel like adding peaceful
serene pieces of art to bathrooms really helps set the mood for a calming and relaxing atmosphere.
So next I wanted to replace this vase I had put in here during my fall refresh so to replace it I
found this gorgeous olive stem arrangement at Target. I love how realistic the olive branches
look and the aged rustic detail that the vase has. So pretty and I feel like this will just give
the bathroom a very simple fresh look and it'll really fit into the decor as the seasons change
in the future and it just felt good to bring back a pop of green in here. And to accompany the olive
branches I always like to get a new candle for each season because something as small as a new
scent can really help make your space feel renewed and refreshed so I found this really pretty woven
one that has lots of spring and summer vibes and even though it was $13 which is a little
pricey for a home goods candle I found a very similar one online for almost a hundred dollars
so when you compare $13 to that it's a steal. So I love how the rustic vase pairs with the more boho
casual look of the rattan candle and how it plays off of the other woven basket that I have on that
wall. Next it was time to swap out our hand towel and this is just something I like to do as the
seasons change and I actually didn't have any spring appropriate towels so I set out to the
store to get some and I was really looking for a casual neutral and subtle floral pattern. Floral
patterns are very in this year and I thought it'd be really fun to add a more subtle neutral one to
the bathroom so I bought some at Home Goods and Marshalls for other spaces in my house and then
I found this one that I really liked at Target. I loved the fringe detail and that it seemed to
be pretty absorbent because it is the worst when you find a cute towel but you could barely wipe
any water up with it. I also had an old pine soap from Christmas still out so I figured I'd find a
more season appropriate one and Home Goods, T.G. Maxx, and Marshalls are always my go-tos for finding
soaps. One of my favorite brands is Castelbel. I think that the little gold seal on them just
looks really elevated and expensive when really these guys only cost five dollars and you can even
refill the pretty containers with a cheaper soap later if you want and Target also has some really
pretty apothecary looking dispensers too with really nice scents so I just swapped out our
Christmas scent for my favorite Castelbel one, Wild Honey, and it definitely sets the right mood
for spring and then I just replaced our old hand towel with the one that I bought from Target and I
love how just a couple simple easy swaps really transformed the look of this bathroom and helped
give it a brighter, lighter, and fresher feel for spring. So next it was time to refresh our little
mudroom area so I just took down some of the winter decor that I had up and one thing that
you might have laying around your house already that you can use in spring decor is a sun hat
and I also added a little basket that I found at the thrift store for three dollars and adding woven
accessories to your coat rack or hooks is just such a great way to decorate for warmer seasons and
fill up those empty spaces now that it's getting time to put the coats away. So another big trend
that we are seeing this season is floral pillows and Target has a ton of them in their new spring
decor lines and I personally won't be showering my house with new floral pillows but I decided
to buy one just to add to the little bench seat in our entry area and I found mine at Marshall's
for $20 and they have a lot of really pretty ones at great prices right now and I tend to gravitate
towards more neutral colors or just a pillow with one solid color that will still coordinate well
with other neutral pillows so I just popped that right on our little bench and I originally had
some pink flowers in my hanging basket but I decided to swap them out for these blue ones
just to match the new pillow. I feel like if you have any type of hanging basket for your spring
decor adding even one little stem can really help soften the look of it and make everything feel
more coordinated and intentional. I personally go for stems that look similar to wildflowers so it
gives off the simple casual vibe that you just went and gathered it from your yard or field
somewhere and casually placed it there. So yeah that is our little mudroom area all refreshed
and ready for spring. I love the look of this and how the space now feels lighter and brighter.
So next up is the kitchen area and honestly I really like to keep my kitchen cozy with neutrals
for the most part. I don't like anything too colorful or flashy usually but I figured it was
a good time to swap out the florals in this hanging basket and I found these really pretty
white faux flowers at Ikea and I feel like they coordinate really well with the other green stems
that I have going on in this area and I think just by swapping those out it really softens the look
of the backsplash area and you know makes it feel a little bit more like springtime. So because I
added flowers to the backsplash I decided to just add some pretty faux greens to the statement base
on my island and I will have these exact stems linked below as well as everything in this video
that is linkable. So I really like these because they are affordable realistic looking and they
don't compete with the hanging flowers they just add a really nice simplistic look to the kitchen.
Next up is some fun practical and edible decor and I always like to add some herbs somewhere in my
home. It's really nice to have them on hand for cooking and cocktail making and this is about the
maximum level of plants that I can keep alive right here. So I just put them in some H pots that
I got from Michael's last year and when I reached for my potting soil I realized there was mold in
it. So yeah like I said I struggle as a plant mom but I just figured I'd put them in pots for now
and then go get some more soil after I was done filming. So to display them I just found this
really pretty dark rustic brown tri-stand planter at HomeGoods and I really liked that it was tall
and skinny. I previously had a shorter and fatter one there but I liked the size of this one better
and so I just moved my old one outside and I really like how this one just fits perfectly
into the little nook that we have next to our bench seat and the tall elevated planter just
allows the plants to get a lot of sunlight and it's in the perfect spot to be able to just come
in and snip some of the stems off for cooking when I need to. So next we are moving on to switching
things up in the living room area and if you guys follow me on any of my social media accounts you
know I would not shut up about this vase. It was such a good price for a huge solid rustic vase.
I will link it below but I just added in some branches that I found on Etsy and it's really
popular for designers right now to add a statement vase with some long twiggy stems and I feel like
these really give you that look. I love how the branches are really crooked and have lots of bends
in them and even though they are faux they look like you just went outside and trimmed them off
of a tree. I love that simplistic gathered look and I think that these do a great job of freshening
things up for spring you know giving us those warmer green tones but still keeping things
really light and minimalistic. Okay so now that we've freshened up part of the house with just
greens I want to show you guys what I do when it comes to flowers and color and I have a really
simple formula that I follow and all I do is I just pick a green stem that I like I add those
into a vase arrange them in a way that I'm happy with and then I will add my pop of color. So for
my pop of color I like to go with again flowers that look like they resemble picked wildflowers
so the arrangement feels light and casual and then I just mix them in so they're evenly spread out
throughout the greens and I like the simplicity of just using two stems in an arrangement because
number one it's cheap and number two you can easily take the flowers out later or you can
use them in other arrangements. These are great for styling on a bench to add some color using as
a statement vase on a kitchen countertop or island you can use them in a bathroom you can pop them on
a desk or a coffee table the options are really endless and as you guys can see here I'm just
following that simple formula again this time with some weeping eucalyptus and blue stems I only
used two blue floral stems in this arrangement so don't think that you have to go crazy on the
florals in order to add a pop of color just a couple to accent the greens will give you a really
pretty understated look obviously it helps if you choose a stem with multiple buds or flowers on
that stem too just something to keep in mind when you're picking them out but for those of you who
really like to go crazy on the florals for spring I usually do one really pretty statement
arrangement on my dining table each season and this year I actually did an entire video on how
I made this one including the breakdown of how I made the base for it how I picked out my flowers
and went about arranging them so definitely be sure to go check that out if you haven't seen it
but I love having one really big varied floral arrangement in a focal spot to really help soften
the look of my decor for spring okay so next it was time to tackle our outdoor patio that had been
left neglected all winter and our cushions were really dirty after being outside for so long so
I just decided to remove them and give them a good wash so I had a nice fresh space to decorate on
for our little patio refresh and all season long whenever there would be stains from bugs or
animals I would just rub a magic eraser on that spot since I had previously scotch guarded the
fabric and here I just sprayed them with some stain remover on the stubborn spots before I
threw them in the washer I washed them on the gentle cycle and made sure that I didn't leave
them in the dryer for too long since they didn't absorb a lot of water due to the scotch guard that
I had put on them and since we had previously strung lights up last year a reoccurring problem
I noticed was that birds would come and perch on the lights and then leave droppings on the
furniture which was starting to just get really annoying so I came across these bird repellent
deflectors on Amazon because apparently birds stay away from shiny and reflective objects for
some reason so I just hung these up on little hooks on our curtain rods and so far they have
worked like a charm get it because they look like a little charm no okay anyway so I had been to
Target a couple of times and noticed these hanging bells for a really great price they were only ten
dollars per pair and I decided to get both types and tie them together to hang as wind chimes and
I will say that they are pretty heavy so it takes a really strong breeze to come through to make any
sort of noise with them if you want more noise you could just try hanging two maybe since that
would be a little bit lighter but I think that they still look really pretty they add a little
bit of visual interest to the patio and they also help draw your eye up and I love the pretty
neutral ceramic look of them so next it was time to put the cushion covers back on the furniture
and after hanging those bird deflectors it was so nice to have everything all clean and fresh
also if you have questions about anything existing on the patio like the curtains or the furniture
I have an entire video on our patio reveal from last year and I found this patio set at HomeGoods
actually but there is a set that looks super similar from Ballard Designs which I will link
below so next I just gave everything a good scrub from all the fills and buildup that happens with
outdoor tables and then I decided to get some pillows since the previous ones I had last year
didn't really hold up to the bird dropping so Target has a bunch of really good ones for great
prices and I wasn't trying to spend a lot of money on these so I found these gorgeous blue striped
ones and I love how they just kind of fit in with that casual summery look we're going for out here
I love that they kind of almost have like a linen-y texture to them and I love how they
contrast against our greenery and light cushions they were $15 each so not too bad and while I was
at Target I also wanted to find a pretty citronella candle which give off a scent to help keep bugs
away when you light them and I figured this would be useful when we hang out on the patio after dark
and at the same time add some functional decor to the space so I started with this pretty tray that
I also found at Target for $12 I added this large gray terrazzo citronella candle I popped a little
mini olive topiary that I got a while back on clearance at Pottery Barn and then just a set of
marble coasters from HomeGoods that are nice and practical but really help this tray arrangement
feel well styled and intentional this is just a nice little practical DIY centerpiece that anyone
can make it doesn't cost a ton of money it doesn't take up too much space so there's still plenty of
room for drinks games food whatever but it still helps really anchor the living area and adds a
little touch of style decor and then the last thing that I decided to go ahead and splurge on
with the patio was a little water feature and I searched for a while to try to find something that
didn't take up too much space wasn't too gaudy or cheesy but still made a really pleasant noise
and I will say this thing looks just like concrete but I'm pretty sure it's made from some sort of
plastic but overall I'm really happy with it for the price so just to enhance the look and sound
a little bit more I decided to add these stones that I found at Lowe's and this will just help
the sound to be a bit more river-like and I always really enjoy incorporating earthy elements
into my decor so these really help do that as well I just kind of placed them in there
strategically so when the water hits them it changes the sound of it a little bit and this
water feature is exactly what I was looking for just something to add a subtle sound of gentle
running water to the background and this combined with a gentle breeze and chirping birds just really
makes for such a relaxing atmosphere all right you guys so that about wraps up this video I hope
you kind of got some inspiration for your spring decorating definitely let me know what you're
planning on doing in your home as the seasons change maybe something from this video or maybe
something not mentioned in this video I love to hear from you guys so definitely leave me a comment
