Hello everybody.
I'm Jennifer Davenport and in this video I have got some new fall decorating ideas that
you won't want to miss.
So, stay tuned.
So, I have never made a craft for the cornucopia, but when I saw this one in Hobby Lobby, because
it was so whitewashed and I really like a neutral theme for fall, I thought, okay, I'm
going to figure out how to do this.
And let me show you one other thing before I jump into that.
I found this super cool, long cutting board at Hobby Lobby and that's what's going to
be the base of my design.
Alright, let me show you some of the picks that I chose.
Of course, I started with this pick of this big, huge, white pumpkin with a little straw.
Again, neutral fall leaves.
These are two picks with a little bit of wheat and white leaves.
A pumpkin that was kind of a sage green and I got to have a flower in there somewhere,
so here is a beautiful sunflower.
And then I really liked these because they were just kind of soft and fluffy and I'm
not quite sure how I'm going to use them, but I'm going to get them in there somehow.
Then I found some beautiful feathers and the last thing, like I always say, go to that
floral aisle.
These are velvet pumpkins.
Velvet is just, you probably already know this is hot this year, but it was all over
the fall design.
In fact, I even saw some beautiful royal blue pumpkins.
I just couldn't figure out how I would use that in a design, but they were stunning.
So I only got one pick and I'm going to use several of these pumpkins and I'll pull them
off and use them in this design.
So since the cornucopia has so many holes in it, I'm not going to try to hot glue and
I don't want to mess up the design of it.
So the trick is going to be pulling a few of the stems together to create a base and
I'm going to take floral wire and arrange them how I kind of want them to set inside
the cornucopia and then I'm going to wire them together.
After that, it'll be much easier to add just a few of the other stems.
So I have them wired together.
I'm going to take this piece and I am actually going to glue it on there because that's going
to hide the wire so we won't see it when we're looking inside.
So now that I have that together, I'm going to set it in the cornucopia and glue it to
the bottom of it so it will hold it in place.
Now I'm just going to add just a few little things.
One is the feathers.
I just love pheasant feathers.
I actually use them during Christmas and the fall and I'm just really just going to tuck
it on two different sides and go up under and just add just a little bit to the design.
Now I want to add these really cute pumpkins that are velvet.
They're really easy to come off the stem.
You just kind of pull down and I'm really just going to add a teeny bit of glue just
to make sure it stays in place and just put it in a couple different areas.
I'm not going to add too many because I'll probably use these in some other design, but
they add a little bit of depth to the light colors.
I just love the way that looks.
And then the last thing I'm going to add, I want just a little more of this fluffy,
I guess it's called Pompei grass, I'm not sure, but I'm going to trim it.
See if I can just pull out one piece.
Super easy.
I'm going to set it on the cutting board and see how it looks.
For the next fall craft, we're going to do a fall door wreath, but I want to do something
a little different this year.
So rather than using a grapevine wreath, I found this pumpkin wreath.
This is going to be super easy because we're going to use picks.
Go down the pick aisle, you can find some beautiful fall items.
I chose one that's an orange pumpkin and one that is a white.
And what I'm going to do is I'm going to snip off the stems and we're going to hot glue
that right onto the wreath, one going one way and one going the other.
So I'm going to add a flower on the top.
And for this design, I kind of kept things neutral.
So this sunflower has just a little bit of off-white and just a little bit of blush.
So again, I'm just going to trim the stem and put it right on top.
Next I want to add these leaves.
They look like birch leaves to me and I found them not in the pick aisle, but I found them
in the floral aisle.
And even though they're a little bit more orange, to me they're going to add just the
right color.
So I'm going to trim off just a few of them and tuck them under and attach them with hot
glue.
Last thing I want to do is add a bow.
And I looked forever until I found some ribbon I really, really liked.
Because I want to keep it neutral, I wasn't wanting to throw an orange or yellow bow on
there.
But I loved this one because it had a little bit of black and white gingham on the edges
and I think that's going to pop off of this wreath.
Remember the key to making a really pretty bow is to keep all of your loops the same
size.
So the little tail I used to tie in the middle of the bow, which you want to tie really tight,
that's what I'm going to use to attach to the wreath instead of hot glue.
So I kind of want it to sit at the top, so I've kind of centered it.
I'm going to gently flip over my wreath and I'm just going to tie my bow onto my little
pumpkin wreath.
And there it is.
And then I'll kind of take the tails and just tuck them under each little pumpkin.
And there you have a really pretty and easy front door wreath.
Hobby Lobby had some adorable fall plates and chargers.
So I put together three different designs.
The first one, easy charger that looks like wood, it's plastic.
Then white plate on top.
And they actually have four different plates with different sayings.
The next one, this charger mimicked leather.
How cool is this?
I absolutely loved it.
So I paired it with a green plate that they had and then a pheasant plate.
For this last plate setting, this one might be my favorite.
This is one of their everyday chargers and to me, guys, chargers just really amp up the
design and make it beautiful.
I found this teal plate.
This one is actually plastic and then look at this beautiful pumpkin salad plate.
This next fall craft is going to be super easy.
I'm going to show you how to make a beautiful centerpiece and we're going to start with
a large candle ring.
The other things we're going to add, two picks.
Again, I kind of went with the neutral color again, so I'm doing two picks, but this time
I want to do the pumpkins the same color.
I found one pick of a hydrangea and a beautiful soft gold.
And then the ribbon I'm going to add is this beautiful plaid.
So I trimmed the picks, leaving just about two inches of the stem.
For this design, instead of doing something all the way around, I'm only going to concentrate
on one section and I'm going to put the two pumpkins close together.
I'm going to show you how.
I'm going to add the flower and I'm going to make the bow on this side.
So sometimes you can do a centerpiece where it's decorated all the way around, but in
this instance, I'm only going to do it on one side.
I want to add the flowers last.
I'm going to do the bow next and when there's little spaces between the bow and the pumpkin,
that's where I'm going to put the little hydrangea flowers.
Take the two little tails where we tied the ribbon in the middle and go in between the
pumpkins, flip your candle ring over and just tie it in a knot.
And you'll notice when I put the pumpkins on the candle ring, I didn't put them very
close together.
I let a little bit of space in between them.
That is to allow for my bow.
So the little pick, hydrangea pick, has three little stems on it.
We're just going to snip those off.
Okay, so I'm just going to use a couple little pieces and tuck them in around the pumpkin.
I'm going to decorate both of my urns on the front porch and the first thing I'm going
to do is add a grapevine wreath.
I learned this from Cole.
I'm going to keep my real ivy in here, but I'm going to pull the wreath through and set
it right on top of the urn.
The next thing is I'm going to use these curly willow branches I got at Hobby Lobby.
I keep my dirt in there so it makes it super easy to do this and I'm going to stick them
down in and that's going to be my height and my center focal point of this floral arrangement.
This is the next stem I'm going to add.
It's going to give it a little color and I'm trying to only use one so I'm going to
pull it around that curly willow a little bit.
Don't be afraid to kind of pull and tug on your stem and that's the second thing.
Here's the third stem I picked and I got three of these and I'm going to get them around
the willow.
See how the, I love this, the green plays off the brown willow and then the whites playing
off of the green grass.
The southern girl in me loves magnolia so I only have one stem of it and I'm going to
add just a little bit.
It's going to give a lot of depth to the color of the whole arrangement as well.
I chose another bush of flowers, again, that have the neutral colors that really play off
of these and I'm going to trim them and place them right in like so and spread this second
one around.
I don't want clumps of them.
I just want a few in there.
I've got one up high.
I'm probably going to put one low here and that's it.
Another stem I chose.
This one, to me, looks like wheat and I'm going to do the same thing.
I'm just going to trim and just stick a couple pieces in and if you guys, you guys have asked
me this before.
I'm going to put a link to my clippers.
My husband found them for me because I do a lot of florals and they hurt my hands a
lot and these, these were a little expensive.
I think they were like $50 but they're actually supposed to cut wire but they go through my
stems like butter and they really save on my hands.
So I was taught this a while back when you do arrangements.
You have what's called thriller, filler, and spiller.
So the thriller is what is the height and that's what the curly willows are my thriller.
My fillers are these flowers but now it's time to have a spiller coming off of my urn
and I chose this beautiful stem and I'm going to trim it and then kind of bend it and I
want to go in through the grapevine.
That's what's so brilliant about this.
The grapevine will hold that in place and there I have something that's going to spill
over the urn.
Very last thing I'm going to add.
It wouldn't be fall without pumpkins so I found this pick.
I'm telling you, I love every pick that has a little bit of this corn husk on it and then
a really soft green one.
So again I'm going to go into the grapevine and I'm putting this closest to my front door
because I want everybody to see the pumpkins when they come and visit us.
Well I hope you liked some of these fall decorating ideas.
The weather was not cooperating for Sarah and I.
It is over 90 degrees and the humidity is so high but I wanted all these ideas to be
something that you could do that's really easy and inexpensive.
