Urban Steelhead Fishing at the Post Office

Pretty nice out, I gotta say. Feels nice to finally get out. Trying to get rigged up. There it is. Let's see. I'm gonna start off with some jigs and waxworms. Yeah, probably good. I mean, it's about ankle deep. It's probably close to about a foot accumulated snow right here. And we have another snowstorm coming I think tonight or tomorrow. All right, let's go make some friends. Hopefully nobody's fished the spot that I want to go to. Hopefully we can get one. It'll be dope. Holy crap, the water is clear. You can see everything. You have any luck? I haven't even casted yet. All right, man, good luck. I might be back. Man, it feels like spring air. All right, imagine it just gets rocked first cast. It's kind of cool, man, I gotta say. I think it's kind of cool just because I've never done anything like this, I believe. Gosh, this is so weird casting like this. I am not used to fishing like this, man. Holy crap. Dude, no, no, no, no, no, no, dude. Already pulling this BS right now, man. Come on. It's so shallow. I don't know about this. Getting a good drift. Oh, my guides are freezing. It is so shallow. Yeah, I'm gonna go back across the bridge. I'm just not feeling this. We don't got any sun. We don't got sun. It's freaking cold, wild to be in a shallow, dark spot right now. Have you been out much? Dude, I've never caught one off the wall. I haven't really put in a lot of time here either, but... Somebody snagged this fish in the fall. Yeah, they did. Oh, my gosh. Wow, this fish low key got blessed, man. Oh, my gosh. Bro, that thing's got to be 10 plus pounds. Let's go. What's your name? Adam. Adam? I got a scale too. Oh, yeah. She was hooked deep. I'm just going to cut that. Nice fish, man. Do you want to dunk her really quick for me? I really did not think I was catching a single fish today. I was like, I'm just going through the motions. It's like, maybe, you know? Just hooked into probably... It's... I'd say what? 10 pounds, 11 pounds? You said you got a scale? Yep. Trying to... It's so hard, man. This is literally, what? A 25, 30 foot wall? Yep. First time ever fishing here at this spot and we hooked into a really nice one. It was probably a good like 10 pounder. Insanely quality fish. I came out here. I had no like... I honestly had no hope and hooked into this gorgeous freaking hunting fish. Super stoked. I did not expect this. If it weren't for the man, Adam, on the camera right now, there is no way I was getting this fish in. You need a dip net here and I just had this freaking... Whatever my net is. Let's go. Super stoked. Dude, thank you. Seriously, if it weren't for you, there's no way I was... Hey, man. I got the pop of cherry on my dip net, so... Oh, really? This is the first one on your dip net? First fish in. All right. Let's send her back, dude. She's still lively. I'm really scared of her. She'll freaking pull down our... Dude, there's no way I was doing that without... Did you fish here in the fall much? Oh, you got one? We're just railing on him right now. All right. Here, try to come at me. I'm going to kind of have it scooping at him. Yep. Yeah, you got his head up. Spin him right in? Got him. Let's go, dude. Let's go, Adam. That's a nice fish. Right on the switch too, man. You literally just switched jigs. Was that your first drift? Your second? For sure. You got two quality photos for sure. That's so funny. That's awesome, dude. Thank you. Yeah, no problem. I'm going to show you my setup really quick here. We've got 23 pound main line. You can see it's freezing outside right now. We've got a 15 gram blood run plunger float right here engulfed in all this ice. We've got a clear piece of surgical tubing right up top. You can't really see it. Then we've got a small black piece of surgical tubing. One more piece of clear surgical tubing right here, followed by four size five water gremlin split shot. Connecting our main line to our leader. We have a barrel swivel. I just used the double clinch knot on each side. We are running pretty thin today. We are running eight pound Super FC Sniper from Sunline. One BB split shot right here. Then about another foot down, we got another BB split shot. Then about 24 inches down, I would say, we are running to our tube jig, sipping it off with some wax worms. Pretty simple rig. When it's really cold, the way it is right now, super low and clear, these old tube jigs work the best. I like putting little wax worms on it. All right. Yeah, guys. Well, I ended up getting into a really nice hen steelhead. My new friend, Adam, man. Thank you. Seriously, there's no way I could have done that without you. Sure. I got to show you guys this really quick. Holy crap. Look at how freaking frozen this line is. Like it is just cake down there. It is like the whole thing is fully engulfed in ice. That is insane.
