Hello everyone welcome back I'm Damla
Today I'm sharing the third part of our sewing series for beginners
In this section I explained two different zipper stitching techniques and how to use edge turning oil
I hope this video was clear and informative
If you enjoyed the video don't forget to like the button
Also if you have any ideas about what should come next in the next chapter or if you want the chapter or no
I would be very happy if you could share these as comments with me
Make sure to subscribe to my channel if you want to see the
continuation of my videos Take very good care of yourself
We will sew the zipper in between the separate parts in this way
You can use this technique when making a pencil case and a bag and when making a jacket front
I pressed the edges of my pieces inward with a seam allowance of a zipper tab's thickness to make it easier for you
First I take a piece of it and open the ironed wing
I am placing the zipper on this side that is on the edge of the flap
I secure it here by inserting a few pins
By doing it this way we will have sewn our zipper
Now I place my other piece in the same way so that the zipper's face is facing your face and I pin it
We will have sewn a very neat and straight zipper when we turn it the other way around
We need to make sure that when we plant we will plant it like a wing from the side
We will not place the fabric directly and sew it
I put on the shoe with the zipper
You can access the zipper foot and other feet from the video in the top right corner
I open my zipper and place it under my machine
I held my left foot in place because the teeth are on the right
I am inserting the needle and sewing slowly reinforcing the backstitch without rushing
I open it wide when I reach the place where the zipper is and make sure my needle can continue
I continue stitching by taking my needles
When I got there I had to close the zipper and I was lifting my foot with the needle still inserted
I'm zipping up my pants It's very important that the needle is inserted here
Your fabric will just slip away like that Such a stitch never looks good
I am reinforcing my stitches with a backstitch and cutting my threads
I placed it on the same side for the other party as well
I position the needle better on the fabric and sew by aligning it with the teeth
The zipper tip will once again prevent me from sewing
I lift my foot with the needle still in it and slide the end under my foot by unzipping my boot
This is a bit tricky especially with such large zippers
If the needle is stuck you won't have any problems
I am continuing to write again
This way the stitch I made to align the zipper from the inside is complete
And it looks the opposite this way
It appears that the place we just planted is not visible from the outside at all
It is located under the wings
Now we will do the real stitching
Because it is stitched and thanks to the seam inside our zipper will not slip from the fabric and we can sew it easily
You can brush this with your hands or insert a needle
I am opening my zipper and placing it in my machine
I reinforce it with a backstitch and sew it all the way with a straight stitch
I lift my foot as if my needle had been stuck and then I zip up my shoe
I am continuing with the discussion
After the stitches my zipper is ready
Now I will show you the second zipper technique
This technique is used when the zipper will be on the seam lines
For example we can use it on the side of a shirt at the back of a blouse or in front of pants
I am layering my pieces and pinning them from the edge
I had used this technique in my pencil skirt
I measure the length of my zipper from the edge with a needle and mark it with a pin
If we make the stitch in the thickness of the zipper's tab it will look much better
Of course if we leave enough space
I will sew up to the point I marked at the beginning with the longest stitch length and use the normal stitch length for the remaining parts
I start sewing with a straight stitch leaving a gap as wide as the zipper
I stop at the mark I made shorten my stitch length and continue sewing with a backstitch to reinforce it
I cut my threads after the journey is over
Now I open it like this and press it with an iron to make my work easier by separating the wings
I did everything and cut the unnecessary long part
I am placing my zipper in such a way that the toothed part will be right between the wings and I am sewing it from the edges
It is very important for the gear to be centered I check and needle it
Because when we tear the middle of the fabric the toothed part will show and if we sew crooked the wings on both sides will not be equal
You can take the thread until your hand gets used to the machine
The zipper tends to slip very easily because of this technique
I will sew the straight stitches from the places I showed you
I sew by turning the handwheel without turning on the machine so that the needle does not break the zipper end
I continue with the normal stitching after passing the zipper
When I get to the end I pierce the needle and turn the fabric then sew the bottom
I'm reinserting and rotating the needle to sew the other side
I am removing the place where I sewed by hand after the diktik
I will dig up the place where we first planted it when we turn around
I will reveal my secret
I am inserting my needle between the layers of fabric and cutting through the stitches as I push forward
It is easily cut because we have already planted it very densely
I am cleaning my nails and neatly trimming the edges
Our second zipper is now complete
Finally I will show you how to finish the edge
I will use such a fabric
You can use the edge curling tool at the end of the hair the ends of the fringes or the edges of the scarf
I really love using it
It's very practical and looks very neat
This is our edge curling foot
You can easily find this in technical services or online
I bought Ben 10 from Singer's store
This curved metal in the middle of the sole helps rotate the fabric while holding it
He is stitching from the place where he inserted and pulled out the needle
I am removing the attached part by loosening the screw here to attach it to the machine
I place the curling foot at the bottom of the sole and tighten the screw again
I place the fabric I want to curl the edge of under my foot and pass it through the curled part at the end
I hold it like this so that my foot can grip the fabric
I'm letting the fabric catch on the needle by turning the handle a few times
Then I roll the fabric like this and hold it a bit up from the machine
And I start sewing
If you don't keep it tight your fabric will slip off your foot right away
Even if you fold it with your hands it will still come off
If you keep it thick the knitted part will curl back outwards
It sounds a bit difficult when said like that but don't worry you'll get used to it quickly with a few tries
I am cutting my strings all the way to the end
It looks like this
As you can see I folded and stitched the edge of my fabric very quickly without needling or ironing
The third part of our sewing series was like this for beginners
