Burano, Venice _ Most Colourful Island In Italy

Today I'm going to Burano which is one of the most colorful islands I have pretty much ever seen and I'm just super excited because this is my third or fourth time in Venice so I figured I'd change it up a little bit. You know, there's only so many times that you can walk around the city although it never gets old, trust me. There are quite a few different ways to get to Burano. I have personally chosen what is probably the cheapest and easiest which is just taking local public transport which is a boat and it costs me 20 euros per day which I think for Venice standards is fairly affordable. The second option is a water taxi which is around 130 euros so less affordable and the third option is an organized tour and that tends to cost around 20 so same as mine but the problem with that is you get four and a half hours on average and you go to three different islands so you're not really in charge of your own schedule which as a photographer is quite important to me so I will be, you know, kind of deciding based on the light but I think this is going to be incredible and whichever way you get there you're probably going to have an incredible time so I'm so excited. This has now officially become my definition of a lunch with a view and I found veggie stuff. Alright, my belly is painfully full but I managed an outfit change because photos! Alright, I've shot tons of photos in my white dress which I've realized now looks like a wedding dress so got loads of attention for the wrong reasons but it was quite fun and I got some amazing snaps so totally worth it. The one thing I should say is it's obviously super touristy but if you come really early in the morning or quite late in the afternoon you can kind of dodge the crowds a little bit and get some really stunning photos. Alright, I'm going to give you three actually useful pieces of information. Number one, the colorful houses. If you live on this island and you want to paint your house you have to send a request to the government and then they will get back to you with a list of colors that you're actually permitted to use and then you have to choose one from that list so that's kind of restrictive but awesome because that's how they keep the island looking so beautiful. Number two, it's really well known for its fishing and the food here is so much better than in Venice because you have tons of fresh fish and it's just really, really good. And number three, it's really well known for its lace production. They do loads of handmade really intricate and beautiful lace and they actually started exporting it all over Europe in the 15th century and that kind of brought them up in the world and made the island much more important than it used to be and the lace is still here although not that many people are producing it anymore because it's really labor intensive and super expensive.
