Hi guys, welcome back to the channel. Today I'm going to be showing you how to decorate your
Christmas tree to get that high-end New York department store feel. So when you would go
into a hotel or you went into some nice big say Macy's in New York and you saw that Christmas
tree and you're like I want that Christmas tree. I want it to be decorated like that.
That is what I'm going to show you how to do and hopefully you guys will be able to recreate this
at home. What I am going to show you are the materials that you will be needing. You will
need a ribbon. You'll need some wider ribbon, some thinner ribbon, just different sizes. I
really love the wide mesh ribbon. This is probably one of my favorites. I just think it makes your
bows and your tree just look really elegant and classy and just super over the top. I also really
like the mesh because if you use a lot of ribbon you can still see the Christmas light shining
through so that is a good option. Here's some other ribbon that I really like, burlap. I'm
going to be adding that in because I love that country chic feel. Joanna Gaines is just amazing
as she throws in all that country chic. So I'm going to throw in burlap. You will need some
floral wire and then I don't have these here but wire cutters will be great, very useful.
You also will need some just decorative flowers. So whatever goes with your tree that you're going
to be decorating. You will also be needing some ornaments whether you like bulbs or honestly
whatever you like. So I have bulbs here and then I also have a little bit of a wow factor. It is
a reindeer that is sparkly, silver sparkly. A girl that I follow on a blog, she said at her
store, this local Christmas store, they had them for like $40 or $50 and she found them at Walmart
for $6. So I will link them below and they are gorgeous. I think they just add that wow factor.
And the last thing, the most important thing is to decide a color scheme. I think it's so
important to figure out what you want to do. So if you want to do the classic red and green,
I love that look. You can do that. I am sticking with the silver and gold. It's just it goes with
my house the way I have it decorated. I just love it for Christmas. I've seen people do purple and
pink. I mean that looks amazing as well. So just go with what you like but do pick a color scheme.
I really think it makes the Christmas tree pull together and it gives it that high end.
And what I like to start with is the top of the Christmas tree. So your tree topper
and we're going to be making a big ribbon Christmas tree topper. And all you're going to
need is your different ribbons that you have chosen, three or four different sizes, different
colors, again, whatever goes with your color scheme. So it's so simple. All you're going to
have to do is you literally start making loops. So you're going to make a loop, make another loop,
loop, keep looping it. And then for ours, I already have our Christmas tree topper done.
I do much longer strips so the ribbon loops can be larger and then I can create more. So it's
fuller and big because you really want your tree topper to be nice and full and big. And then what
you're going to do next is you're going to go in with your next ribbon and you're just going to
create more loops and you can make them as big or small as you want. And then you also want to add
in, well, you don't have to, but I love the burlap look because it just gives it that rustic look.
So I'm going to add in some of this. Look how gorgeous this is. I love this burlap. It's got
like a silver screen print on the front. I think it's absolutely gorgeous. So we're going to take
that and again, you're just going to create loops and you want to create some to the front
and then to the back. And also if your ribbon is one-sided, so only one side is decorated,
you want to make sure that's what's showing. Once you have that all together and you're done with
your tree topper and you feel like it's as full as you need it, you're just going to take one of
your floral wires. You're going to wrap it around the middle and you're going to tie it in the back.
What you want to make sure you do is you leave your floral wire long enough so that you can wrap
it around the top of the Christmas tree. So here you have your bow and then what you can do, if
it's not big enough, you can create two. So you can put one on one side and one on the other side
of the tree. Once you have done that, what I like to do is do the rest of the ribbon. So you're
going to take one of your pieces of ribbon and I'm going to show you with the gold because I just
love how thick it is. And you are literally going to start at the top of the tree and you're going
to go all the way down the length of the tree. And every once in a while you're going to bunch
it and you're going to pinch it into one of the branches of the tree. And you're going to go all
the way down. You're going to keep on pinching it down as you go down the tree and you're going to
make this beautiful cascade down the tree. And what you want to do is you want to do this all
the way around the tree but you want to alternate all your different ribbons. So then I would go in
with my burlap and I actually used two burlaps together. So I used this one and then another
just plain burlap and I literally went down and you're going to bunch it down the tree
and bunch it and you're going to go all the way around. And then I would go in with the silver
and you're just going to keep alternating until you get back around full of the tree. So that is
super easy. Once you've done that I also went in and made some smaller bows like we did for the
tree topper. And again you're just going to make loops, loops, loops. You're going to take that
floral wire, you're going to wrap it around, pinch it, and literally just keep it around the tree.
I went in with just some flowers that I got at Hobby Lobby. Again I got all of my ribbon at
Hobby Lobby. It's a great place. They're always having 50% off Christmas stuff during the Christmas
season. They always have a 40% I believe it's 40% off coupon one item full price item. And if you
don't have a Hobby Lobby you can go to any craft store. And I also for my daughter's Christmas tree
I did the same kind of effect with the ribbon and they had a beautiful mesh ribbon at Walmart so
it's perfect. But these I believe I got these at Hobby Lobby as well. And all you're going to do
is you're just going to cut off these little pieces of flower with your wire cutters and
literally once you place the flowers or whatever type of additional decoration you want to add to
the tree you're going to go in with your ornaments. I like to use bulbs. I think they just look classy.
They look good. You can find them in any color that you want. So bulbs is what we go with. We
go with different shapes, different I guess textures on them. And these are silver and gold
and they go with our themes. So these are perfect. And then the last kind of statement piece I'm
show you guys is gorgeous. I love it. This was the statement piece that I added. I know
it may look kind of out there and when you think of deer head you're like oh my gosh scares you
away. But I just love it. I think it's cute. I think it's fun. It adds a little bit of an edge.
I've got two daughters and they love them because they're sparkly and glittery but yet
a fun animal that's a deer head. So they're cute. And this is my end statement piece. So
I hope you guys enjoyed this video. I hope you're able to create a beautiful tree that
you like. It's all about your personality too and what you like. So what one person may like
another person may not. Thanks again for watching guys. I hope you have an amazing Christmas,
a wonderful new year and I'll see you guys in the next one. Bye.
