Garden Corner Bed Water Feature. As the previous owners had covered up the foundations of their old pond with a corner bed, I haven’t been able to plant much here because of all the brickwork buried underneath. Thanks to Richard’s brute force and strength for digging it all out for me. We cleaned and repositioned the garden water feature fountain and now I can do the fun part ... new plants!!

Hi everyone, it's Jeanette here from Enthusiastic Gardener and it's a beautiful day and I'm very
excited because today is the day that I am going to move the fountain and hopefully dig out some
concrete, maybe find some treasures. So the first thing I want to do is, can you see this awful
thing I put around here? What happened was this whole bed was raised and I lowered everything
but then I couldn't lower the fountain because it was all kind of plumbed in. So I thought that I
could make it look more attractive, I don't think I succeeded. I put this around it to kind of fill
the soil but what I want to do now is to take it all out, get rid of that because it's just rubbish.
It was a kind of a DIY bodge job as you can see. I did the best I could with my limited skills
because building and DIY I'm not very good at. I've been looking at this for a couple of years now
thinking how awful it looks.
I'm going to keep all these, they're just all these purple
slates because I might be able to use those.
Lovely morning today. We're going to remove this fountain, level out the ground,
lower it down and refit it. We'll take that away, give it a clean.
Good boy Stubb. Do you like gardening? I'd rather be on a golf course.
This is a big slab of concrete and bricks. There used to be a retaining wall here.
Obviously they've done some sort of concrete foundation for it.
This is why I couldn't do this myself. This looks like a 20 year old bridge.
You won't feel like one later.
Okay so thank you Richard so much. This is everything he dug out plus one huge piece
which he's taken off and put behind the cabin but look at it
and that was all down there and that's why I couldn't plant things.
That's where they used to have a pond so I am so grateful.
I think he will suffer tonight. I'll have to make him a cup of tea now.
Well deserved cup of tea. It was hard work.
As Jeanette has mentioned previously if there's something in your garden you're not happy with,
shouldn't be there, get rid of it. So why am I in the garden? That's what I asked myself.
Richard's going to have his own channel called the Reluctant Gardener aren't you? Yes.
But I tell you a really good tip to all the wives, if you want your husband or if you'd
like your husband to do a really awful job, film it because then he can't moan at you
throughout the duration of the task. So that is a very good tip and he can't swear
and if he does swear you can cut it out. Or you can cut me out completely.
I just hope that this video has filmed and we haven't lost all this footage
of your strength and agility. Yes well they don't call me Adonis for nothing.
They don't call you Adonis. Or is it Adonikabab I'm not sure. Adonikabab.
Anyway I am going to clear all the bricks away now and what are you going to do?
I'm going to sort out the electrics now. I've unearthed the cable to the double socket.
I did realize that my life has been in jeopardy every time I've dug a fork in the ground. It
hasn't been in jeopardy because there is a circuit breaker. Oh thank goodness. Which I've tempered
with. So I'm going to clear the bricks away and you're going to do the electrics then we can,
oh and I'm going to clean the fountain, that's my job, and level or one of us will level the
bed. Then we'll put the fountain back. This is all today. Do you realize? All today? All today.
Oh we're planting this afternoon. No we're not. I haven't got any plants. I need to find a good
online mail order place for plants because obviously we can't go out and get plants.
I'm so happy, so happy that this is done. If mama's happy everybody's happy.
Anyway let's turn off. It's lockdown and we're still talking. Just about. Just about. The secret
is he goes in the bedroom and watches Netflix and I stay in the lounge and watch Vikings
and it seems to work so far but it's probably early days.
I've got nothing to say. I'm taking the fifth. Okay so my job is to clean the fountain.
I've got a bucket of hot soapy water.
You can see we're not going to put all those purple slates back on because as you can see
it hasn't done it any favours so they won't be going back on.
So we've done it and I'm so pleased and as you can see it looks so lovely and I've done all the
mulching everything's done so now I just need to find some plants online. If anyone knows of any
good places please put a comment down below. We all need to find good places for online plants at
