Blinds.com Review of Motorized Shades | Interior Design

Hello everybody. I'm Jennifer Davenport and in this video I am going to share with you the experience I had with blinds.com. Before we jump into it I want to thank blinds.com for sponsoring this video and I'm super excited to show you the results so stay tuned. So one of the things that is super important to me in creating a home is certain elements that go into that. There's how does your house smell? How does it feel? How does it sound? Light is probably my most important aspect to creating a cozy home. When we moved to this house we had a lot more windows. Our older house we had those two and a half inch blinds that you just kind of turn the knob and let the light in. But the trouble was it blocks about 40 percent of the light and we did not want that. Now that we've moved out in the country I really wanted to see out the windows. Well and not to mention does it block 40 percent of the light even when they're open. It takes a lot of time and what you don't realize is when Jennifer tells you that it's important to her there's no amount of energy or time she won't spend trying to make the house feel right. So when we come and go she's hitting all the windows, getting the blinds right, getting the lamps on. She wants everything to feel right. So we looked into smart blinds. You hear about smart houses and there's there are blinds that are battery operated and they work remotely with your either Google or Alexa to be set on a timer and to just open and close when you want them to be opened and closed. And then if they're not if you need to change it you can change it with a voice command and it all happens at one time. I know. So that has been a complete time saver. Now whether it's any room in the house you walk into the room in the morning it's already lit. You're not having to spend the time fixing that. It's that's been a really nice thing. Yes and when we did our research so the company we honed in on was blinds.com. Great reviews. I heard a lot of wonderful things about them and what we chose was their roller shades and we went with the ones that were light filtering because we don't have trouble sleeping if a little bit of light comes in the room and more light makes me happy. But another thing was we chose I chose three different colors and they sent those in the mail to us within just a week. I went with three different whites and finally honed in on the right one because I wanted it to match our trim that was on our windows and because I wanted it to just kind of be monochromatic and almost like it's not there. So that was just that was just a no-brainer that made it so easy. And so blinds.com gives you several options of things that they can do if you need them to. Now being handy there's not too much about the measuring and installation that I couldn't have done myself and many people can but many people can't. So they they offered the the service of coming and doing the measurements and coming and doing the installation which we decided to go ahead and do that just so we could see how their process worked and how well it worked and it really worked great. A young man named Chandler came to the house and did the measurements and did a perfect job with that and they even offer a guarantee about that if you do your own measurements or if something goes wrong in the measuring if it doesn't fit if it's not right they will remake them. They take the risk out of it you're going to get a product that fits your window even if there's some kind of mistake on the front end. But he came and did a great job with the measuring and then when he came back to do the installation he had all the tools and it was all old hat to him he knew just how to do it and it was amazing how quickly he was able to. I know we were so excited we were like kids in the candy store watching him put that up so quickly it was oh I loved it. It was impressive and fun. So once it was installed then Chandler spent the time setting up the programming and you don't have to have Alexa or Google by the way they have an app and he showed me how to sync up with the blinds and how you could set your routines what time of day you wanted to them to work. He knew all about how that worked and it was excellent and then he helped me to set up Alexa so that we could make it work with all the rooms in the house and have routines so that that part of it was probably the trickiest part and he made it effortless for us it was really great. We have had our blinds up for two months and they have been wonderful and I was so glad to test this out myself first because I can now share this with my design clients and let them know the process is super easy they are with you the whole way and even for a DIYer like this guy you check the boxes for you. He's got pretty high standards but we absolutely love this product and I highly recommend it.
