ประเทศไทย "One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster..." Here we are in the iconic city of Bangkok Thailand. Greg happily accepted our invitation to continue travelling along with us for a bit before he jets away to some other amazing location. After enjoying some fresh Mango juice at Greg's posh hotel on the river in Bangkok, we head over to our not-posh-but-still-awesome hostel. The Urban Hostel Bangkok does not disappoint and serves as a great launch pad for us to explore Bangkok. We take a ride on the famous Bangkok water taxis, visit Wat Po and Wat Arun, enjoy a great lunch on the river in the Amulet Market, wander the streets a bit, introduce Kate to her first genuine Thai Coffee, then something really special. We booked the Tuk Tuk Food Tour though Expique Food Tours and while it's a bit pricey, it's worth it. We had such an amazing evening whipping all over Bangkok to out of the way eateries and food carts that we never would have found or eaten at otherwise. Our local guide, "Bee", was just amazing and filled our brains with information on Thai culture while filling our bellies with some much incredible food that walking home would have been a challenge...thankfully they dropped us off right at our hostel! We just left Cambodia and now we're in Thailand.
We made it to Thailand!
So this is Greg's place.
He's tasting a little lesser digs than us.
Ah, fresh mango juice.
We are in Chinatown for some grub.
This is what happens when we wait too long to order food.
Pork, crispy pork, duck, noodles and duck.
It's so waiting on spring rolls.
That place is awesome.
Eat their chestnuts.
We are staying at the Urban Hostel in Downtown Bangkok.
Walk out our door and the smell is amazing.
There's all these little food vendors out here.
This hostel is really nice.
And people are so sweet.
So I finally get to try Thai coffee.
It's really good. This is hot.
I can see it during the day.
Drinking it cold and having a really refreshing day.
A must do.
That is my breakfast.
I had to get a rental straw.
And now she can get into the palaces and temples without having to rent one.
We are at Wat Phom.
Reclining Buddha.
Awesome.
We're in Bangkok eating lunch on the river.
And it always comes back to this.
Food tour.
We have the coolest tuk-tuks in all of Bangkok.
Red Parrot Roof.
From South Africa?
Yep.
Petch means spicy.
Mai means not or no.
This place can make 200 skewers at once.
Hey!
We are in somewhere in the middle of the flower market for chicken.
That's all the information I have.
More will be revealed.
This may be the best chicken I've ever had in my life.
What's the name of this place, Bee?
Tham Dong in Thai.
Tham Pino.
I speak Thai, yo.
Now we're cruising around the flower market.
What an awesome way to see the city at night.
Stinky Bean.
River Coat.
The Germans and the Austrians are getting out of control.
The South Africans are whining for wine.
The stinky vegetables are called in Thai.
No!
This one is called Khao Khao.
This one is called Khat Na.
This one in Thai is called Yod Pak Mew.
I think it's from Super Troopers.
I forgot to show you the green curry.
Which is really good because it's also really gone.
The lady that's the chef here used to be a chef for the royal family of Thailand.
This is the part of the tour where she takes us out and makes us do Zumba.
When Austrians go mad.
They are mad.
Royal cremation for the most beloved King Phum Nippon.
That is the Grand Palace at night.
And he doesn't smile.
He forced him to come.
We just walked down a seedy alley.
I'm sure it will be fine.
But if by chance my kidneys don't make it through this.
I love you mom.
Not sure if that's what you want to see at your restaurant.
That's a lot of food.
This group is getting full.
Fried noodles with chicken and egg.
Go ahead, throw it on.
Chili pepper, you can put more on.
More?
Chili pepper.
Fried chilies.
This is crazy good.
Like everything else tonight.
But that honey chicken is still the best.
These are silkworm larvae.
They are really good.
Awesome.
Love that girl.
The worms.
You didn't have one?
Martin, still not impressed.
We did not have our kidneys stolen.
We had some amazing food.
And now we're off to Chinatown to get desserts.
Because we have so much space left.
We're filming them filming a movie.
And almost getting hit by cars.
Oh, these are Thai tacos.
That is brown coconut, not beef.
That's good.
I wonder what these taste like, now I know.
It's really good, but it's definitely dessert.
Ginger tea with coconut flour balls in it.
Hey B, what's this called in Thai?
Bua Loi Nam Kim.
I think she just called me a name.
Wow, that's gingery.
Try one of the cow's eyeballs.
Oh God.
I'm okay with bugs, but this freaks me out.
That's a Rocky Mountain oyster.
Actually, that's not bad.
It's ice cream time.
Durian ice cream.
That's really good.
I keep filming the ice cream, but then I wouldn't get to eat any.
So, peace.
What did you guys think about the tour?
This tour was awesome.
Well worth the price.
It was a little expensive.
About 60, 70 bucks a person.
Absolutely fantastic evening.
And we are so full, we're almost sick.
But it was good.
