This is Tom Bernecki and today I'm sharing my secret morning drink for weight loss, for
diabetes, for cardiovascular health, and I'm adding my two secret ingredients that other
people don't add to this drink.
And we're starting now.
So this month I'm involved in a weight loss challenge.
So far I've lost 18 pounds in about 25 days and this drink helps me achieve 16 hour fasts
because whenever I drink this I feel really full.
I feel great.
Anytime I get a craving I just have some of this drink and it keeps me held over.
And I eat during a time restricted window.
We have some videos about that.
This is how I've been able to lose 15-20 pounds pretty comfortably in a month without stressing.
Like I said, my secret.
I'm not saying it's the best for everybody but it works amazing for me and I've watched
a lot of other people doing it too on YouTube and it seems to be one of the best go-to and
most popular things.
This is a morning drink.
You can drink some coffee in the morning and you can do this on an empty stomach.
It will help you increase your metabolism and has more benefits that are proven due
to these ingredients.
It's comprised of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, water, and two secret ingredients.
These are dirt cheap, low cost.
This is not expensive supplements that I'm selling.
None of the stuff I recommend in these videos are my personal products.
So hopefully you can tell I don't have too much incentive to pick one thing over another.
And I'll show you how to make it at the end.
So you can jump ahead to that if you don't want to listen to me.
This is why we're using all these ingredients.
It keeps you full, healthy, and hydrated.
Apple cider vinegar.
This wakes up the nervous system and prepares your body for digestion.
It increases acidity and increases ideal enzyme function.
It lowers blood sugar levels.
It's been shown to burn fat to suppress appetite and kick-starts your metabolism in the morning.
The lemon, which contains vitamin C, can help clean the GI tract.
It has some acid, helps your digestion, and it serves as a gentle laxative.
This decreases stomach bloating and helps cleanse out your GI to keep you more mobile
and be able to walk full speed during the day.
What is apple cider vinegar?
It has been used historically as a cleanser and a home remedy.
I've got a lot of videos up, like my foot fungus videos, my toenail fungus videos.
You can put apple cider vinegar on there, and it's helpful towards your body.
It's made by fermenting crushed apples to alcohol and then to acetic acid.
So it has some phytochemicals, some antioxidant chemicals in there as a result, which these
can do really good things for your body.
It can serve as an anti-cholesterol agent.
It can work as an anti-diabetic agent, controlling blood sugars.
And there are studies showing this.
So over eight weeks, studies showed it reduced cholesterol and blood sugar.
And it's important for cholesterol, too, because medications like statins now are receiving
some negative press.
People are starting to get a little bit pessimistic regarding those, potentially.
You want to get your health as good as possible through exercise, through good nutrition as
much as possible, and get off drugs as much as possible.
Food and weight loss are the key.
Time-restricted fasting, for me, the evidence is much more clear that time-restricted eating
helps a lot more than calorie counting.
That means when you're getting a craving, drink like this to stay full.
Combine that with exercise.
And my wife right here, who's a registered dietician, will go over why lemon juice and
vitamin C are excellent.
Lemon juice is great to add to your water as it only contains four calories, one gram
of sugar per tablespoon.
It's a great source of vitamin C.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect your cells against the effects of free radicals.
Free radicals are molecules produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to
tobacco smoke and radiation from the sun, x-rays, or other sources.
Free radicals might play a role in heart disease, cancer, and other diseases.
Vitamin C also has immune system benefits, helps prevent chronic disease, helps decrease
high blood pressure, heart disease, and uric acid levels.
And that is effective in battling gout.
Vitamin C also helps prevent iron deficiency.
There are studies that also show that vitamin C helps in preventing dementia.
The safe upper limit for vitamin C is 2,000 milligrams a day.
And there's a great track record with strong evidence that taking 500 milligrams daily
is safe.
One tablespoon of lemon juice is about 10 to 20 percent of your daily vitamin C.
And you could even do lime juice instead.
Carbonated water, apple cider vinegar, vitamin C powder, and magnesium are my benefits.
I love the carbonated water machine.
You can fill the bottles for about $10 and they last easily over a month.
Way better than soda.
There's no calories.
Here's some misconceptions on carbonated water.
For bone health, carbonation does not break down your teeth.
What's really been shown to do that is sugar and phosphorus.
So sugar is 100 times more likely to break down tooth health than any type of carbonation.
I have a video about vitamin K2, which is very beneficial.
I would highly recommend watching that if you're worried about your tooth health.
Phosphorus.
Sodas contain phosphorus, which leads to osteoporosis and bone breakdown.
Carbonation does not contain that.
Those sugar and phosphorus are really what leads to osteoporosis, not the carbonation.
That's been proven at this point through animal studies.
Obviously, they haven't proven this in human studies.
It's proven very well in animal studies.
Same thing, heart health.
Carbonated water.
You know, these are low level studies.
Some cases are being made that it's not bad for your cholesterol.
It's not bad for your blood sugar.
It's not bad for inflammatory markers in your body.
It's actually beneficial.
The hydration keeps you in great shape.
So less headache, better mood by staying more hydrated.
Tell me your thoughts.
Is the carbonation good or bad?
I'd love to hear what you think.
I personally love it.
Keeps the fizzy nature, makes you feel full.
And it's empty calories that are good for you.
It bloats your stomach, makes you feel full.
The other ingredient is magnesium.
And my wife's going to talk about this as well.
When it comes to magnesium, 50% of the population is deficient.
It actually makes up over 600 of the enzymes in our body.
Magnesium can help with decreasing the symptoms of depression.
Helps with muscles.
Helps you be calm.
It also helps decrease heart disease and blood pressure.
It has anti-inflammatory effects and it's very low in cost.
It also is very important in bone health and vitamin D function.
It's safe and widely available.
Here's how we mix the recipe.
I have a table right here.
I'm going to slide it up.
But it's got all my ingredients.
So I like to buy the organic apple cider vinegar.
This is like five bucks or less.
I think it's a little bit less.
I go shopping at Aldi and I have my water.
So this is a few cups in here.
And here's the secret ingredient.
I love to use a soda stream.
And I'm going to tell you why it's healthy
and all the negative consequences of carbonated water are overblown.
It's really sodas, sugars, and phosphorus that are unhealthy for you.
A lot of studies now in carbonated water show that it could actually be decent for you.
There's no real negative side effects.
And the carbonation for me tastes awesome.
I want to keep drinking it.
I want to keep hydrated and it keeps me full.
Here's what I do.
I fill up this water bottle.
And what happens is you stick a carbonated tube in the back.
It usually lasts me like a month at least.
I put some water in here and you can see right here.
There you go.
A couple little pumps.
It gets carbonated.
I unpop it right here.
You got your carbonated water.
And what I do right here is a little splash of apple cider vinegar.
That.
So this is secret ingredient number one.
But I'm not going to count that.
Secret ingredient number two is I use ascorbic acid, which is vitamin C.
So it comes with little spoons here.
And I put the links to all this stuff below.
But essentially, I just take one little scooper right here.
I think this is preset to like 500 milligrams, which is essentially all you need right there.
And secret number two.
And the reason I do the vitamin C there is with the vitamin C,
I do not want that extra sugar from the lemon juice, which you can.
But this gives you so much more vitamin C.
And you don't have to worry about buying lemon juice.
This is pretty easy for me.
Number two secret ingredient is magnesium.
I absolutely love magnesium.
And we're going to tell you why in a second.
But same kind of thing.
You just need 400 milligrams during the day.
And the great thing with magnesium is if you drink too much of it or eat too much of it,
there's no real side effects.
Human beings were designed to drink water loaded with magnesium
throughout our evolutionary history.
So up until 100, 200 years ago with water treatment plants,
there was magnesium in all the water we drink.
And if you drink too much, it would just loosen your stool a little bit.
The only real people that should be afraid of taking magnesium
are people with severe metabolic system collapse,
like kidney failure or some type of bowel obstruction.
There's a couple other little tiny things.
Realistically, a little scoop right there.
400 milligrams for men, 300 milligrams for women.
I think 200 for kids is the dosage.
But see, I just put a little bit on there right here.
Easy drink.
Takes me five seconds.
When I go do my charts in the morning, I take this.
It fills up your stomach.
The fizziness, the apple cider vinegar, all these two things.
When I sip this, I just don't feel hungry anymore.
And this lets me essentially go 16 hours of fasting at a time.
This is how I'm able to lose rapid amounts of weights,
you know, until I get to my ideal point.
So that helped me quite a bit.
Maybe it can help you.
Things you can add too.
Stevia, if you want some more flavor.
Turmeric can be really good.
I have videos about turmeric.
It's an all natural spice, which also is very difficult to overdose on.
It works as a great anti-inflammatory.
Sometimes I add that in the morning.
I put it in soups as well every day.
If I eat some soup, that can work really well.
You can add some mint.
You can add some cinnamon.
Those are healthy as well.
Tell me if you like my extra ingredients of the carbonated water.
If you like the magnesium, the vitamin C.
Tell us if you have any other things you'd add.
But like I said, it takes me about 30 seconds to put this together.
Works outstanding.
I love it.
It's helped me lose a ton of weight this month as part of the routine.
Tell me what works for you.
