In a life phase of great decisions,
you think about which things are really important.
Looking back, there were moments when we experienced extraordinary things,
the most influential.
That's why we decided with a sailing boat
to go on the journey of our life and discover the world.
We have now arrived here in the Netherlands
at the Brassau Sea between Amsterdam and The Hague.
Here is our new boat at the moment.
We are now starting with the first repairs
and want to present our world tour on YouTube.
We bought a boat.
We bought a steel boat.
It is 11.66 meters long and 3.50 meters wide.
It weighs about 8 to 9 tons when it is filled.
It has a depth of 1.70 meters.
In the next 8 months we want to renovate it as much as possible
and then go on the big tour.
It was built in 1986.
It is made of steel with a middle cockpit.
Because it has a middle cockpit, it is also a catch.
The main mast is in front of the cockpit
and the smaller one is behind the cockpit.
It is quite solidly built
and you can therefore also drive somewhere.
The middle cockpit is also quite safe,
so it is very suitable for long-haul boats.
Because you don't sit directly at the back of the boat
where waves can hit you,
but you are protected in the middle.
The boat is divided in such a way
that the anchor and the anchor winch are at the front of the boat.
Behind it you still have a bit of space
to later stow a dinghy or something else.
Then comes the first hatch of the double cabin,
which is in front.
Behind it is the main mast.
The main mast and the hatch are on the front deck,
where you can lie down or sit down well.
We are here for about the fourth time now
and the first time we cleaned up the boat
from all the things.
The previous owner had left a lot in there.
Then we brought everything home and sorted it.
Then we took a closer look at the boat,
took off the plates, looked at the electronics,
looked at the engine, looked at the pictures
and then we realized
how much more we have to repair,
because a lot of things are already broken,
but it is definitely possible.
Right now we are in Holland
to do repairs on the boat.
For example, we have already flexed rust spots
inside the ship.
In order to apply primer to the raw steel again.
In addition, we have also renewed windows,
removed old sealant and glued it back on.
And it has a really cool steel railing.
And Tilo, what do you think of the railing?
I have not seen another boat that has something like this
and I have already seen quite a few boats.
At least in my research.
Our timeline looks like we want to refit the boat
and prepare it for the world tour.
And then next year in April, roughly May-April,
we want to sail off.
Because we bought the boat in Holland
and still have so much to do,
we thought it would be much more practical
if we had the boat at home.
Because it just costs us a lot of time and money
to drive to Holland every three hours.
And that's why we're going to have the mast
laid for the next few weeks.
How high is the mast?
11.50 meters.
And then drive to our home via the canals and the Rhine.
And then we can just put work into the boat every day
and repair a lot.
And then the boat will slowly become our new home.
We want to sail around the world
to capture the whole world we have been living in
since we were born.
By really moving around the world with 8 km h
within three years, which you need at least.
And experiencing everything and gathering new experiences
and also seeing how people live differently everywhere
in order to be able to decide afterwards
what you want to do, where you want to live.
Because we have simply gathered too little experience
here in Germany so far
to be able to make decisions about our lives.

Yes, and more videos will follow in the future.
For example, how we go home by boat via the canals
and how we will prepare the boat for the journey in our homeland.
And from now on we want to post a video on our YouTube page every two weeks.
Subscribe to us if you want to follow this further.
Otherwise we are looking forward to the trip
and whether you are interested in the video and how you found it.
