Deep beneath the surface of the ocean, there is a mysterious world.
Almost completely in the darkness, the oceans of this earth hold the greatest yet undiscovered secrets.
Brave explorers, scientists and adventurers ventured into these unexplored depths
and breathed in hidden treasures and creatures never seen before.
Some of these facts will put you in panic, others will simply make you speechless.
So stay tuned and join us on this journey into the mysterious and dark world of the deep sea.
CREATURE IN THE ARCTIC
During a dive in the Arctic, divers came across something inexplicable.
It was a scientific routine mission into the rather unexplored depths of the Arctic Sea.
The divers were looking for signs of unusual activity.
They had been in the water for a while and everything seemed calm,
until one of them noticed something strange nearby.
At first the divers thought it was a very large seal or a smaller whale.
But as they approached the creature, they realized that it was something completely different.
It had pale skin and a body that resembled a human being, with hands that resembled fins.
The eyes of the creature were dark and covered with a strange layer.
The creature moved courageously towards the water,
and the divers noticed that this creature was perfectly adapted to the environment.
But what was it?
None of the divers had ever seen anything like this before.
The divers were speechless.
At first, the creature showed no fear, but slowly moved away as the divers approached.
After the discovery, the researchers looked for explanations.
The creature was not a fish, everyone was sure.
Some felt strangely reminiscent of a mermaid.
In Japan, there are stories of very large, mermaid-like creatures,
which are mainly found in the cool northern seas.
The locals call these creatures Ningen.
It is said that they can reach lengths of 18 to 27 meters or more,
with fins or tails instead of legs, like mermaids.
The only visible features of the Ningen are their eyes and mouth.
The fact that these stories are not fairy tales shows several sightings from Japan.
Among other things, Ningen were already sighted by Japanese submarines,
which were located in the northern waters of the archipelago.
Ningen are not fish, but are described as humanoids adapted to life in the water.
Stories about mermaids are found in many cultures of this world,
and the discovery of the divers in the Arctic raises the question once again
whether there is more to fairytales and myths in this world than is generally accepted.
Mud Volcanoes
If you think the Caspian Sea could be an exotic vacation destination,
you could suddenly find yourself in an inferno.
Around the deserted sea and in the nation of Azerbaijan,
there are 400 of the world's around 700 mud volcanoes.
Mud volcano may sound funny at first,
but if you have ever seen an eruption of such a volcano,
you'd better hurry up and look far.
Mud volcanoes form near oil and natural gas fields,
as well as seas or large inland waters.
The dangerous thing is not even the boiling hot mud,
which these natural spectacles push into the environment.
The eruptions of these volcanoes are 100 times more violent
and have more pressure than the eruptions of normal volcanoes,
which are on geological eruptions.
The eruption is triggered by burning natural gas or oil in the depths,
and not a few of these volcanoes are active all year round.
Jesus in Lake Michigan
What on earth is the salvation of Christians doing on the bottom of an ice-cold lake in North America?
The answer to this question is by no means scary or shocking,
but a real miracle.
Imagine you are on a lonely dive into the murky waters of the lake,
nothing but cold and darkness,
and then suddenly you notice a flickering light in the distance.
As you approach, you see a huge cross with a statue of Jesus.
The family who commissioned the statue lost their young son in an accident.
They ordered the statue in Canada to honor the boy's memory.
During the transport, Jesus was damaged and the statue remained on the border.
Later, they bought some divers and sunk them as a memento of the divers who died in Lake Michigan
and as protection for all other divers who are on their way in these waters.
According to history, since Jesus was on the bottom of the lake,
hardly any fatal diving accidents have occurred.
UFO in the Baltic Sea
Deep in the Baltic Sea, professional divers come across a formation that looks like a spaceship.
After the divers from OceanX reported their findings,
competent marine geologists announced that this formation would be a rock structure
created by bacteria and other marine microorganisms.
But OceanX was not satisfied with the answer,
because the incidents that took place around the find were simply too special.
At first, all the diving watches fell out near the anomaly,
which caused a short shock.
But the divers of the company, which specializes in the recovery of sunken shipwrecks,
were professionals and came out without the gimmicks.
Luckily.
When they moved away from the anomaly, the function of the technical devices resumed.
No, the base ship of the diving group also noticed something special.
When crossing the anomaly, the radio devices first fell out.
Then they received a strange signal,
whose frequency was repeated regularly and could not be traced back to a natural phenomenon.
At the moment, OceanX is looking for sponsors to be able to examine the anomaly in detail,
and we can look forward to what this thing really is.
The oldest shipwreck in the world
For the reasons of the world seas, thousands of ships must lie.
Ancient wooden boats, proud galleys, U-boats from the world wars, the Titanic,
and countless trading ships or sunken ferries are slowly rotting
or have already completely dissolved over the centuries.
Strangely enough, old wooden ships survive best in the depths of the seas.
Almost nothing is left of the steel colossus Titanic after only 100 years.
Wooden ships, on the other hand, sometimes survive for many thousands of years on the seabed.
The oldest currently known sunken ship is located at the bottom of the Black Sea,
and that has been the case for 2,400 years.
The old sailor was certainly one of the successful city-states of ancient Greece.
Sparta, Athens and others were doing business with the inhabitants of the Black Sea at this time.
Why the ship sank cannot be completed today,
although the parts are almost completely preserved.
In the depth where it lies, oxygen hardly occurs,
so that decomposition processes are limited to a minimum.
It was probably loaded grain and other commodities when it sank in a storm or by overload.
The Red Tide is an algae species that occurs around the globe in warmer waters.
The phenomenon is caused by various algae species such as the dinoflagellate.
The algae spread irregularly in the seas and their emergence usually happens suddenly.
They begin to bloom, the water turns red,
then the first dead fish are usually washed up.
The algae releases a highly toxic substance in the flower,
which can even cause itching and shortness of breath in humans.
Larger fish and marine mammals flee as quickly as possible.
A prevention and fight against the Red Tide is not known.
Where the Red Tide is noticed, beaches are closed and fishing in the wide area is stopped.
The water turns blood red and with strong blossoms,
polluted waves are washed to the beaches.
The plague can last for weeks and then disappear again as quickly as it has emerged.
A culture of around 1,300 years is based on a reservoir in China.
Shicheng, the city of lions, is also known as the sunken city of China.
In 1959, the cultural property of the communist government was flooded
to set up a dam on a passing river.
For a long time, the city was forgotten at the base of the Guandao Lake.
Only when China opened to the West came journalists and divers.
Now the government of the province of Xinjiang is establishing a modern diving park at the lake.
In addition to divers, tourists should be allowed to dive in submarine or glass submarine,
which are allowed to admire 1,300-year-old temples, buildings and magnificent streets.
In the professional world, the architectural features and artistic designs of the Ming and Qing dynasties are considered a cultural heritage
and the offer to visit the lion city underwater is very welcome.
In addition to thousands of wrecks that lie on the ground of the world's seas,
many more thousand ships rot on shipyards of this world.
In some military installations, hundreds of warships, reconnaissance vessels or submarines are slowly rusting in front of them.
Nobody knows where to go with the old ships, wreckage is too expensive
and no one is interested in the old wrecks anymore.
The most bizarre, largest and most dramatic shipwrecks are said to be in North Korea.
In the country that hardly lets strangers in,
prohibits journalists from entering and violently oppresses its own people,
entire coastal sections are swamped by old fishing wrecks.
If you are brave and start to be interested in the fate of the boats, you will experience terrible things.
Allegedly, the poverty and hunger in North Korea cause thousands of people to grab old ships
and go out to sea with them.
With poor experience and little equipment, they want to try their luck as fishermen
and most of them fail miserably.
They keep going out or go to sea sections that are difficult to navigate or deadly.
The ships often come back as ghost ships on their own.
Every trace of the crew is missing.
Then they are dragged to one of the many ports until the next lucky knight finds them
and buys one of them or until the fishing rods rot.
Maritime giant eels
We all know small eels from the basement or those that hover over terrace slabs,
but have you ever seen 20 cm large giant eels?
These bizarre marine creatures with the scientific name Batynomus
live in the deep sea between 170 and 2,000 meters below the surface of the water.
They don't look much different from their comparatively tiny relatives,
but they have solid tanks and biting tools
with which they specially destroy cadaver-ended large fish and marine mammals.
Despite their impressive size and their eerie appearance,
giant eels are completely harmless to humans and other animals.
They are even something like the health police of the deep sea.
Outside the sea, there are only a few specimens that are kept for study purposes.
The first specimens of this kind were discovered in 1870
when a ship called Challenger made its first oceanic measurements
and explored the areas of the deep sea.
Giant eels are now considered a good example of the giant growth that occurs more often in the deep sea.
Other famous giants of the deep sea are the up to 10 meter long giant crabs,
which are said to be able to destroy entire ships.
What do you say now?
Are these discoveries frightening or do you have stories of even scarier underwater discoveries ready?
