New Carburetor Replacement for Briggs & Stratton Tractor Engine 590399 796077 Carb 15hp-21hp https://amzn.to/3bJVYXA
Hey guys, how you doing?
It's Henry, and Mowers and Blowers!
Good afternoon.
As you guys know, I replaced the carburetor on this Troy-built 2620 dual-stage snowblower.
I also replaced the broken stud that adhered the carburetor onto the engine.
Also, one of the reasons why this didn't work was that the chute wouldn't turn.
Well, it was missing the rod!
So you guys know the story, but for new people who are just joining the channel, I fabricated
a rod because the rod that I tried to buy was back-ordered until April.
Well, I'm not going to make the kid wait two months for it, you know what I mean?
So I just made a rod, saved him 30 bucks.
Mike's here with his buddy to come and pick it up.
Yeah.
Awesome!
You know, I kind of tweaked my back the other day doing my windshield wipers, so I don't
think I can help him.
I'm glad he brought his friend over.
All right, let's push this over to the pickup and see them load it.
Let's start it up and see, huh?
You know these Power More engines, right?
When you first start it up, it surges for about a minute or two, but if you let it run
for a while, it'll be all right.
And maybe it doesn't surge all the time, it starts to surge a little bit.
I don't have to help him.
I'm lost.
Don't hurt your back, bend your knees, fellas.
Good job, fellers.
So my boy Mike, he always needed a chainsaw, right?
And then he actually brought me an Ethel once, right?
And then I fixed it and I sold it to Andy, the brick, across the street, right?
I felt kind of bad because I remembered he said he needed one, right?
So you know I just fixed this.
This thing runs really good.
So I figured I'd just give it to him.
Remember that 8 horsepower Toro snowblower that he wanted me to fix that changed belts
on it?
He says it doesn't really run right.
It doesn't blow snow at all.
So I have a feeling the gearbox is probably busted.
Anyway, he's going to bring that to me as a trade.
It all works out, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
Thank you, man.
Later, bro.
I'll see you later.
Thank you.
It's Henry.
Good afternoon.
It's a balmy 48 degrees today and the big thaw out is on.
A lot of the snow has melted off of my yard and I have to do a trade with my friend Nick
Iardi.
The only way I can do that trade is if I go into my collapsed shed in the backyard and
try to dig out that Toro Recycler push mower that he wants to trade for an LT1000 deck,
which I need.
So I'm going to mosey on back there and see if I can get that.
Now the deck is supposed to be intended for this thing.
As you recall from a previous episode, this isn't, wasn't sure.
It's an LT2000 that I got from Nick Bellport a while back.
Painted it red.
It's a fantastic tractor.
I put an engine on it.
The only thing that's wrong with this thing right now is that this is the deck that I
welded a plate on that I got from Larry and Bobby a while back.
It still has a lot of Swiss cheese holes.
So I couldn't sell this tractor with that deck.
So when I get a new deck, I said I was going to put it on this one and I'm going to take
this Swiss cheese deck.
When I take it off of this one, I'm going to try to repair it some more with my welder.
I kind of like welding.
Not that I'm any good at it, but it's good practice, you know, and I'm going to put this
Swiss cheese deck on this carcass of crap.
This is in really bad shape.
I'm going to put a 12.5 flathead engine on this.
The one I got from a local guy around here.
And put that Swiss cheese deck, after I try to repair it, on this one.
So this will be another tractor I can create.
I don't know what I'm going to do with all my Toro power handle stuff.
I just got to get rid of it, man.
The next project after that is this second carcass of crap.
But this carcass of crap is not that bad.
This has a seat.
Everything is there.
Tranny, wheels, even a deck.
All it needs is an engine.
So here it is.
This is my collapsed shed.
As you can see, the weight from the three or four storms that we had just was too much.
And it's actually my fault for not, you know, trying to get down the snow.
Take down the snow every time it snowed.
I just didn't do it, you know.
In here, I know you guys can't see, there's about 15 push mowers and one lawn tractor.
The Pulon PXT is in there.
I don't know how I'm going to get that mower out.
It's all the way in the front, underneath, buried under two or three push mowers on top of it.
That was something else, trying to get that out of there.
So this has been in there the entire winter.
Not that winter is over, but it has been in there the entire winter.
From what I remember, it started and ran great.
I'm just going to put some gas in here.
And check the Earl.
And see if this baby will start up.
I can't give Nick an engine that doesn't start.
Not that, you know, he can't fix it.
He is a small engine guy too, you know.
Not good Earl.
Alright, what do you guys think?
It's going to start. It's an auto choke.
Let's see, I've got a Kohler XT 675.
And it looks like this reflow starter is not really that good.
It needs a little lubrication.
675.
And it's not salting.
I just took off the air filter, brand new.
And it does not have a fuel shut off.
So it should be getting fuel.
Choke flap is closed.
I'm going to use some contact cleaner from my friends over at Lube.
Just a little bit of go-go juice.
Just to the mouth of the carb.
Just to help it out.
Just needs a jolt maybe to get the needle from sticking from the seat.
Maybe.
Apparently it doesn't seem to be getting any gas.
I've got you on my magnetic GoPro on the deck of the mower.
So you can have a good look at the carburetor here.
There's two bolts.
Well, nuts.
This one here is just to drain the fuel if you wanted to.
This one over here is to loosen the bowl from the carburetor.
I've got a 10mm wrench.
And we're just going to loosen the bowl.
See if any fuel comes out of it.
If no fuel comes out of it, it means that the float and the needle is stuck.
I feel a little bit of fluid here.
I'm going to put this there.
Let's see if fuel pours out.
Holy cow.
It is coming out.
But check out what's in here.
Oh my god.
I've got to hold this somehow.
So you can't see it.
Okay.
Are you ready to see what's in this bowl?
What the hell.
I don't know if that's water or gas.
But what's the white stuff?
The white stuff usually is water.
But this thing is definitely not going to start like that.
There's just no freaking way.
I've got this cup.
I'm going to pour that in there.
Look at that.
Somebody poured milk in there.
With some fresh cream.
Unbelievable.
That's disgusting.
Now I wonder if maybe the entire gas tank might be filled with that.
I might have to drain the gas just to see.
Let me get a dish so I can put it underneath the carburetor.
Let the fuel drain out into the dish.
We'll see if that's water.
I'm going to put the mower flat on its regular position now.
Let's try to catch that fuel that's coming out of the gas tank.
Let's just see what the condition of the fuel is in the gas tank.
You can see it slowly trickling down.
If it's in good shape, then we don't really have to worry.
But if it's all that white watery stuff, then we have to drain the gas tank completely, you know.
So I've pinched off the fuel line.
And now I've drained this cup.
It still has white residue in it.
I'm going to take the fuel that was in the gas tank.
And as you can see here, it's clean.
It has a couple of drops of water there, but that was from the excess of the bowl.
So the fuel seems to be okay in the gas tank.
It was the carburetor that was trashed.
So I'm going to clean out this bowl and spray the carburetor with some carb cleaner.
And then we'll put the bowl back and see what happens.
I've got my carb cleaner straw pointed upwards, up towards the emulsion tube.
And I'm just cleaning that out.
Cleaning it out of that white substance that was there.
That ought to do it.
I have cleaned out the bowl.
I just wiped it, and it came off easily.
It was just like white milky substance and the nut.
I'm going to put the bowl back on now.
Now the nut that holds the bowl on.
10 millimeter.
There we go.
So the bowl is cleaned out.
Tighten the bolt, the nut.
Let's release the hounds.
Put it upright again.
Let's see if this starts now.
Okay, after our quick and dirty, we discovered that the bowl was filled with this white milky substance.
Let's see now.
All right.
That's all it was, you know.
We'll let it run for a little bit, let it smooth out.
I'm going to oil the recoil start a little bit with some penetrating oil.
From my friends over at Luke's Oil Products.
I'm going to find that area where you can see the metal tab that holds the spring.
Right there is an area where you can get into the recoil area.
So it loosens it up.
As you can tell, it's running kind of rough.
Let's try to smooth that out with a little bit of motor treatment from Seafoam.
I only have like a half a tank of gas in here.
So just a little bit, usually it's about an ounce a gallon.
So we're just going to put a little bit, like an ounce.
That's more than enough.
Let's run this a little while and see if it smooths out a bit.
I mean, you know, it runs fine and stuff, but it could be smoother.
And I know that Nick will be too.
After all, a lawnmower is a lawnmower.
Put the air filter back on again and give Nick a text and see if he wants to do a trade today.
So I just texted Nick.
He can't do it today, but we'll do the trade another time.
I think he has a Toro Power Clear single stage snowblower he wants to give me too.
So that and the deck for a trade for this.
He has a bag for this, which makes sense.
I don't have a bag, so he could probably sell that for maximum money, where I can't.
And I need a deck. He needs a mower to sell for the spring.
So it all works out.
I'll show you the trade when we do it.
In the meantime, the afternoon is still young.
I still have something I need to do with that lawn tractor that I just pulled out.
The Pulon.
I'll show you what I have to do.
First, I've got to pick up some boba plants.
This has been here for a while.
This is my Pulon PXT.
1, 2, 5, 3, 8.
It's a 12.5 engine.
38 wide deck.
I got this tractor for free from a local guy around here, Mark from East Northport.
He gave me this one, as well as the green one over there.
I've got this engine running, running great.
But the deck did not have the side deflector chute.
So I bought one on eBay for $18 or $20 shipped.
They didn't have the 38, so I had to buy the 42.
This fits on here, at least it should fit on there.
And if it doesn't fit on there, I'll make it fit on there.
But to make it fit on there, I need to install the spring so that it springs up and flaps back down again.
And also it has this tab here.
Because this deck is a 38, it differs a little bit from the 42s.
This has a tab that sticks up.
So when you put this on, it doesn't go down because the tab is there.
So I've got to push this thing into the garage.
I could drive it, but there's no gas in it or anything like that.
And my kids are in remote learning, so I'm not going to start up any engines other than the lawnmower I just started.
So I'm going to take this to the garage.
I don't want to leave it outside anyway. It's such a nice tractor.
And I'm going to grind this piece off, find a long bolt to mount this deflector along with the spring.
See what I mean? This is the Drillmaster grinder that I've had all along.
My friend Ernie McDonald just bought me a new porter cable one, but it has the grinding wheel on, not the cutting one.
So I just grabbed what I could find real quick.
That was kind of hairy.
I found this bolt that seems to fit perfectly there, along with the nut that fits.
I have to keep the spring here, put it through the spring while it's under tension.
It's kind of tricky, actually.
So there we go. A little bit of TCB today.
Taking care of business.
One last thing I've got to think about now.
This thing's ready to sell.
It only has a 12.5 engine in it, but it's a modern one.
Power built.
Overhead valve.
Still seems kind of weenie, doesn't it?
But anyway, I think I'll probably sell this for $6, $6.50, only because it's in really good shape, you know?
That's it for today.
I'll see you next time.
Bye.
Doing a quick and dirty on a Kohler XT 6.75 Toro Recycler.
Ready for trade with my friend Nick Iardi from West Iceland.
And getting the new deflector chute on here, which makes this lawn tractor complete to sell.
Thanks a lot for joining me on today's sunny day.
