Performances like that remind me of Arsenal's nickname. That's why the hell we're called the
Gunners. That's why we've got cannons on our crest. People deluded, I'm back again. As you can see
above my head, Arsenal 5, Sheffield United 0. A performance that we've been long overdue now.
Haters and critics, and they're not necessarily wrong, they will say that's a performance you
should be putting against a side like Sheffield United. With the greatest of respect to Sheffield
United, they're right there, people. We should have. I'm happy about so many things. I don't
know where to start. I'm happy to finally see Smith role play and get significant minutes.
I'm happy to see El Nene back. I was happy to see Tomi Asu score. I can't lie, Tomi Asu did
that elastico, you know, next time we play Sheffield United, you're going to clamp him.
But lovely to see Tomi Asu score. Eddie Nketiah, big, bad player. Whatever you say about him,
critics will say he's found his level. We all know Eddie Nketiah, and Jesus actually,
he hasn't scored that trick for us. We all know Eddie Nketiah doesn't have a strong record of
goals. And I understand that. I understand people who have concerns about Eddie Nketiah. Is he good
enough to go to where we need to go to? Do they want another striker that could potentially,
you know, eclipse Gabriel Jesus as being the number one at the club? And Jesus is the number
two. I hear that. But one, you have to give Eddie Nketiah credit. The man's mentality is elite.
He scored a, you know, he is improving and he's shown he can fill in for Gabriel Jesus. Those
are facts. He showed it last season. You know, early in the season, he was one of our better
players. Now, weeks to come, he's come off the boil, you know. All is forgiven for that little
cameo against Sevilla, you know, because he got a hat trick. I think the third goal is the best
ever goal I've seen Eddie Nketiah score. And I don't think he will score a better goal for Arsenal
than that. The swagger and the confidence to smash that goal in and get a hat trick. You're playing
it. Games like that, that's the number four. Now you can wear the number 14 shirt when you're
behaving like that, people. Amazing. I'd love to see him get a hat trick. Love to see everybody
congratulate him. Love to see everybody that was happy for El Nene and actually Fabio Vieira.
Obviously, Fabio Vieira done the celebration where you put the ball in there, so he's probably
expecting the kid. You know, again, on the face of it, we did what we needed to do, you know.
I know it's a bit of a crude example, but the first half I'd describe that as foreplay.
The second half was penetration, as simple as that. You know, I don't think we was bad in the
first half. We knew Sheffield United were going to come. They were going to be rigid. They were
going to defend well. They were going to have numbers. We'd have to be patient to break them
down. We all know chance creation and chance conversion ultimately are issues of Arsenal
Football Club. So, yeah, the second half kind of papered over that. I think, like I said,
I don't think it was bad in the first half. I think we was good. We just needed more invention.
We needed more intention in our play. I just think we needed to break them down,
because for a large part, I know Declan Rice set up Eddie Nketiah to kick off proceedings,
but it's only when I saw Martinelli have that effort in the 40th minute where the
keeper saved that I thought, yeah, cool. Because I feel for a large part, both keepers had nothing
to do, but Ryan plays for Arsenal Football Club. We're significantly higher than Sheffield United
in the league, so he can have the day off, really. I thought Fodrington was getting off
too easily, people. I did want to see Smith-Rowe and Havertz probably play a bit with more intention
than everybody, really, because I actually feel Zinchenko played all right today. I think he's
played well from the beginning. I didn't think in the first half our decision-making in the final
third was the best. We was getting caught in possession and moves were breaking down unnecessarily.
I did like on occasion when we went a bit direct, like Saliba when he popped one over for Zinchenko,
Crusty followed him and it was a corner. Raya played a lovely pass into the left-hand channel
for Martinelli and then Saka kind of was ramping a bit. So, yeah, man, I think the first half,
really and truly, we should have done what ultimately happened in the second half in the
first. Who knows what scoreline we would have ended up with, really and truly. I did think
Sheffield United grew in confidence a bit as the first half went on, if I'm completely honest with
you, but fundamentally it was dead. It took us a while. The first 20 minutes probably putting
everybody to sleep, you know, for the first 20 odd minutes we had about 67% of possession.
Possession means everything in a Mikel Arteta team and it means everything in football,
but it's pointless if you don't do anything with it, which we did. I have to give credit to,
in their own way, White, Saka and Havertz and obviously Declan Rice for getting the assist,
big up Eddie Nketiah for his first goal because that kicked off proceedings. I think we was a
bit indecisive in the final third, if I'm honest. So my thoughts at half-time was I'm genuinely
happy with the performance. We're doing what needs to be done. We're not really being tested
or having too much to do. We've got the goal, but we have it in our locker to score more,
create more, play with a bit more invention and intention, play at a higher tempo and make it
more difficult for them because at 1-0 there's going to be a bit of hope and optimism with them
really and truly. I did want to see a slightly more from the right-hand side because I think
the left was kind of in it, if I was honest with you. I needed to see more, you know, galvanisation
from our midfielders. I understand it, obviously, where you look at Saka, Martinelli, Saliba,
Benjamin White. I know he's a goalie, so it don't count. But Raya, a couple of these players have
been loaded with a lot of minutes in the legs. Obviously, there was a couple of changes from
Mikel Arteta, so maybe that had a hand in the fluidity and us not being as sharp as we
potentially could be. But I do think there was enough to probably score for five goals in the
first half if we really wanted to, really. It did feel a bit pedestrian-based at times,
if I'm completely honest with you. In the first half, you look at the statistics, we had five
shots in the game. Sheffield United had two shots, none on target. We had five shots,
three on target. We had 67% of the ball. We played 352 passes to their 183. We had four
corners to their none. So ultimately, we got what we needed, the goal to kick things off.
But you want to kill their hope, kill their optimism, ultimately just, you know, mess up
the goal difference for them, really and truly, which has a knock-on effect. You know, on reflection
of the second half, they still had two shots. So they were not in it in the second half,
which I love it. We played a lot sharper, a lot more crisper, a lot more intention. It was like,
you know, sharks smelling blood in the sea, really and truly, if I'm honest with you.
We had 13 shots, eight on target, 68% of the ball in six corners. And ultimately,
you know, we made a corner count where Tomi Asu scored. Don't know where 10 minutes came at the
end of the game, really. You know, if I was Sheffield United, I'd feel a bit hard done by it
because we scored two more goals in that, really. The second goal, I was here for it because I feel,
you know, we kind of earned it. You know, Smith-Rowes played a corner early. Eddies earned
the corner. Then, obviously, Nketiah's terrible from a set piece for Sheffield United, but he's
reacted in the box and he's got his second. As I said, his third, disgusting in a good way.
Disgusting. That's what you do when you wear number 14. And it was lovely to see him and
Saka wear the captain's band. Disgusting goal. Absolutely filthy. He had no right doing what
he did, but he rifled it in. Game, set, match at 2-0. As you lot know, it's a dangerous lead.
You can see there's a bit of optimism. We score three goals, heads start dropping,
and that's exactly what we did. Obviously, you know, I can't believe the pen wasn't given first
time around where you could see Fabio Vieira was clicked there. Nice to see him step up after
obviously winning it and back. Nice to see Tommy Yasu get his goal as well. So, ultimately,
the second half, you know, we did what we needed to do. The only thing I would say on that while
I'm, you know, I'm happy, you know, players got minutes, players got rested. Arteta made all the
right decisions. Arteta rested certain players. A certain man didn't play. Arteta took people off
at the right time. You know, the only, if there was a criticism, would be the first half. Can we
do what we did in the second half in the first? Would be it, if I'm completely honest with you.
That's the only thing. And generally, you know, we need to, perfection is an illusion,
but we need to chase that illusion of being perfect, in my opinion, across 90 minutes,
because you look at the Chelsea game, which has been and gone. Had we all played in the second
half against Chelsea in the first, what would have been said? So, there's little things that
we can kind of fine tune, but end of the day, there isn't really anything to say. We scored
five goals. We got a clean sheet. Mano scored a hat-trick. Clean sheet is the most exciting
thing for me. I'm lying a bit. Of course, it's not. But clean sheets are a rarity and they all
can make the difference. Obviously, after the disappointing result against Chelsea,
we've got maximum points. We know next week we've got West Ham United in the cup.
And obviously, you know, we've got Newcastle at the weekend. So, it was a bit of an insurance
policy. So, I'm happy for a bunch of reasons, people. Clean sheet, five goals, you know,
everything worked. It was a great day at the Emirates. It was raining in North London currently
and it was raining goals. What more could you ask for, essentially, people, really? And now,
obviously, we've been dealing with injuries since the start of the season, but now is a big test on
the squad. There's minutes in the legs. We're going to have to rotate. Everybody's going to
have to stand up to be counted. I think all the subs that came on did brilliant. It's been a
regular theme of Arsenal, subs coming on and changing the game, if not necessarily goals
and assists, but changing the game. Happy for Tommy Yassi because he's had a, you know,
last couple of games. He's been really good and that's a good reward for him, especially scoring
at home. So, I'm happy, people. You know, I'm a happy man. You know, we enjoyed today and next
week, well, Sunday, the boys begin to focus for West Ham and obviously Newcastle. Let me know
your thoughts, people. Undoubtedly, Eddie Nketiah is the man of the match, but let me know your
thoughts on the man of the match, how the game went, the first half versus the second half,
et cetera, et cetera, people. Stay blessed, stay safe. Check out the rest of the content.
And at the time of making this video, it's obviously a Saturday. Tomorrow, I'm doing a
watch-along for the Manchester Derby, just like we did a watch-along for Arsenal versus Sheffield
United. So, yeah, you lot stay safe, stay blessed. Like, comment, subscribe. Thank you very much for
tuning in. As always, one love.
