Hello, this is a new perspective on the international issue.
I, Sohnews, will tell you the news of the Earth Village on April 22nd.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the June 4th Tiananmen attack.
On June 4th, 1989, the Chinese army led the tanks at the Tiananmen Square in China
and ended the democratic movement of college students and citizens with a bloody tragedy.
On the 18th, He Xiaoqing, a historian and former professor at the Hong Kong Middle School,
who studies the June 4th Tiananmen attack,
emphasized that if China does not give up its efforts to build a civil society
at the University of Georgetown in the United States,
there must be hope in China.
He Xiaoqing participated in the Guangzhou Hong Kong protest as a high school student in Guangzhou in 1989,
and in 2019, he taught students in Hong Kong and experienced the anti-extradition bill
and the implementation of the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law.
She said about Hong Kong,
Just like China in 1989, we had nothing at the time,
and they had guns, cannons, tanks, and machine guns.
But in the end, many people in our generation
still think that they are being monitored in their hearts.
He Xiaoqing also mentioned that Hong Kong students who participated in the 1989 generation
or the anti-extradition bill movement
did not properly recognize the Chinese communist regime.
She said that in 1989, when Chinese students came out into the streets,
the communist regime really placed tanks and machine guns
and did not think that they would target unarmed students and civilians.
In 2019, Hong Kong students did not have a so-called fantasy about the Chinese Communist regime,
but the Chinese authorities were still afraid that Hong Kong would lose its position in the international financial center.
The response of the Chinese authorities was beyond imagination,
and the reason was that the most important thing for the Chinese Communist Party
was to maintain their regime.
She has been studying the history of the June 4th incident for 35 years
and has recorded this part of history.
In an interview with Free Asia, she said,
This is not because of sad emotions.
What's more important is that this part of history is vague,
and this dictatorship has been distorting history itself.
This has actually had an impact on China's society, politics, and psychology.
As Milan Kundera said,
the struggle of mankind against the dictatorship is a struggle between memory and oblivion,
so 1989 is not the end, but just the beginning.
As a result, Article 23 of the Hong Kong Basic Law,
which is ahead of the end of China in the judicial system, is passed,
and she thinks that there is still hope in difficult situations.
The moment we give up this effort to build a civil society,
we lose hope.
I think history is on our side.
Wang Dan-do, who was the leader of the June 4th Tiananmen Study Movement,
said that celebrating June 4th in a situation where China
is in the midst of Xi Jinping's dictatorship
is realistically significant,
and that we should not forget about June 4th.
Xi Jinping's counterattacks are all directly related to the massacre of June 4th,
and as the 35th anniversary approaches,
we will take action to prepare for a large-scale global commemoration event.
