Thank you all so much for being here. Welcome to day 30 of the Elegance Bootcamp. We made it!
We made it! Go ahead and drop your name in the chat. In the chat, shout yourself out. Let us
know what has been your favorite subject so far or maybe your biggest takeaway. For anybody new here,
hi, I am Maggie. You know me as Maggie the Substitute Teacher from my cooking channel.
I love food and femininity and I really love helping feminine women attract and keep the
masculine man of their dreams. Lucy and I have founded the Finishing School for the Modern Woman.
We are very excited. We have a new class starting in January. If you would like to join us, it is a
Saturday school. It is virtual. All the classes are recorded. You have lifetime access and it's
for ladies of all ages who want to improve their femininity, elegance, and etiquette. So we are
doing a series as a way of giving back. We're sharing with you all Vivian's book, The Ultimate
Elegance Guide, and we're teaching one subject per day for 30 days and we're up to day 30. Lucy,
please introduce yourself. Thank you, Maggie. I'm Lucy. You also know me as Luke Casely, 20, and I
a lot of you know me from Kevin Samuels' channel. God bless the Godfather. We miss him. We learned a
lot from him. But my channel mainly focuses on teaching Spanish, basic from to midpoint Spanish,
and from time to time, I post content about femininity, elegance, and how Western society
can be fixed by us women going back and pulling that feminine essence out of us and sharing it
with our husbands, our significant others, our families, our communities, and society.
Absolutely. I can hear him now saying, ain't that right, Luke Casely? Yes, Lucy is a moderator on
the late, great Kevin Samuels' channel. I booked a session with him when he was with us, so we
definitely have that connection. Okay, so I'm going to bring you all up to speed on what we've
been covering. So you have a lightning fast recap. Hopefully you are realizing that this elegance
journey is so much more than just putting on some fancy clothes. So we did talk about dress and
grooming in the first section, ladies. Make sure you have that personal style. Make sure your
is organized and ready. Make sure your shoes and accessories compliment you. Make sure your makeup
and hairstyles are simple and elegant. You can recreate them. Make sure your grooming is on
point. Always look nice. Always smell good. Make sure that posture is good, ladies. That's a great
way to have silent confidence. Then we started talking about the conversation part of etiquette,
ladies. Make sure you're listening more than you speak. Make sure you're taking a moment to think
before you talk and type and text and respond. Make sure when you do speak it's articulate so
people can understand you. But be discreet, ladies. Elegant women don't share everything that's on
their mind. Watch that body language. Make sure you don't have any nervous tics or clicks that
make people feel anxious around you. Make sure you're well read. Try to be up to date on what's
happening in the world so it's not just pop culture. Then we moved into the dining section,
ladies. Eating is so much more than the food. Make sure you know those table manners when you
dine with others. Make sure you use those utensils correctly. They all have a purpose. Make sure you
read the menu and you know what to expect when you eat out and the protocol when you share a meal
with others. We talked about afternoon tea. Very excited to bring this British tradition to you
and we learned about that for a couple of days. Then we moved into the relationship section,
ladies. Choose wisely. I cannot emphasize this one enough. Who you choose for life matters a lot.
But don't lose who you are. Stay true to yourself. Make sure you're bringing something to the table.
You're not just here to take and receive. Definitely don't act desperate, okay? If you've
made mistakes in the past, learn from them and get better. Make sure you earn that trust. You're not
entitled to anything. You have to earn it with everything that you do. And if it's time to go,
you need to know how to do that and exit with grace. This last section, we've talked about
mastering your elegant online presence. I love this one, ladies. We love technology,
but it is a tool that can do good and it can do harm. Make sure you're being true to your
authentic self. Make sure you watch what you say when you're online. Watch that reputation,
that digital footprint. Your kids or somebody else's kids are always watching. Stay safe. Make
sure you don't share anything that would compromise your safety. And make sure you're
adding value when you do talk, when you do share. Make sure it's worthwhile and uplifting. We are
up to day 30. Ladies, sometimes you just have to disconnect. And Lucy and I love sharing with you
all. But also, sometimes we need to disconnect. It is just good to take care of yourself. So I'm
going to share with you all Vivian's book and then we'll get started. For the last time, you
can see this is the lovely Vivian here. Her book is The Ultimate Elegance Guide. It's a digital
download. You can get your copy. Link is in the description. You can get 20% off with code
ELEGANCE20. You can become elegant in 30 days by incorporating these things one per day. And I hope
you all have seen through everything that we shared with you, elegance is so much more than
that little black dress that you put on. The overwhelming majority of it is how you carry
yourself as an elegant lady. So let's go up to day 30. But before we begin, Lucy, what would you like
to add? And I think it's important to remember that if you take a look at every topic that we've
shared within these 30 days, it has to do with consideration for others. Always think about
how are my actions are going to impact others? Of course, you first, but then think about how is
this going to hurt or help my significant other, my children, my family members, and so forth.
I love that. All right, ladies, let's dive in for the last time. Day 30, disconnect. Limit the time
you spend on social media, commenting on every post and chasing likes and comments are for those
who have nothing serious to do with their lives. Oh, dear. Sounds like she has described a troll.
I mean, ladies, what we have to understand, and you know, social media is great. We're using social
media here to bring this content to you all. So it can be a very valuable tool. However,
don't be confused that this is a business. And the companies that own these platforms, I'm grateful
to be able to have access to them, but they want to keep as many eyeballs as they can on their
platforms. So there's so much science and so much behind the scenes that goes through what they can
do to keep you scrolling. I've fallen into that rabbit hole too. You open it up and you think
you're going to search for one thing and then you see that, oh, what about this? Oh, what about that?
Oh, squirrel. And the next thing you know, you've forgotten what you came to social media to look
up and you spent 10, 20, 30 minutes or more. All right. So just know that and whatever you have to
do, maybe you have to put the phone down. Maybe you have to uninstall some apps. Maybe you need
to turn off notifications. Maybe you need to set a timer that says, okay, 30 minutes. I think,
I don't know if it's Apple or there's something that I've seen before that shows you your screen
time every week and it can go up or go down, but you can control what you take in on social media.
Don't just allow it to wash over you and you're just numb and you just like, oh, next video. Oh,
next thing. There's always going to be something else to see and watch and funny. I've shared with
you all on my cooking channel. I will use the watch later function or save things in folders.
If there's really something that you want to get to, and now it's not a good time,
you can take some of that FOMO fear of missing out, out of it by saving it, bookmarking it,
starring it, whatever it is. Then when you have some downtime, if you're waiting, you know,
at an appointment or whatnot, you can go back and read that article, but ladies just
limit it because if not, it will just suck you in. And you're just going to be almost addicted
to the next piece of content. So what would you say to that, Lucy?
I agree. And also remember that anything that you take in, it's, it's your diet. It's not only
what you eat. It's also what you listen to, what you watch. So if you're only watching content
that specific to one topic, you're going to believe that the world is only that one topic.
So I think that if you're going to be a social media, I want to say addict, make sure that it's
something that builds you up, that is for personal development, that allows you to learn more. I can
tell you in my, my YouTube, a lot of my channels are about, you know, behavior, how, how to improve
certain behavior. How do you eat the, you know, diet Maggie's channel, Maggie's a substitute
teacher, a cooking channel, how to substitute the, you know, bad sugars for good sugars with,
you know, fats with good fats and so forth. So take in things from social media that will
develop your personality, your behavior, who you are. I know that there's a lot of
negative content, gossip just really non building things. So limit that because then your world is
only going to become the things that you see within what you have as favorite content.
So just be careful. I absolutely love that. Yes, ladies. So be mindful and that discipline,
not just for social media, it shows up in other areas, you know, with your spending,
with your eating, clearly that's a struggle for me, but you know, just
reign it in as another area that you can show some self-control. Vivian also says commenting
on every post and chasing likes and comments are for those who have nothing serious to do
This may shock some of you all, but as much as I share and I do share a lot on social media,
I have so much more that I don't. I have a very full life. There are times that I'm like,
oh, I want to make this post. And I have stuff on my phone that I just haven't gotten around to
because I'm living in the real world. I have real responsibilities and real connections with
real people that I do. So the social media is a great hobby. It's a great escape. You know,
I would love for it to be, you know, my legacy as part of my exit strategy one day. But
I like what Vivian said. If all you know is social media, if that's your only source for
news and information and pop culture and whatnot, it can be very limiting. And then it can make you
like the late, great Kevin Samuels used to say, very socially awkward when it's time to have an
actual conversation and talk to someone and maintain eye contact and actually compose yourself
in a way that shows that you are aware of the world around you. So just know that. I mean,
it's heartbreaking to me to see. And we all have the phones, but see people at a table together or
together and everybody's just got their face down. And, you know, as a mom of teenagers,
you know, sometimes we just have to take the phone away. You know, it's Thanksgiving. You're
down here and be with the family. So ladies, just know that it's Lucy talked about this in another
episode, that attention from people who don't know you just as much as they want to like and share
and peer into your life. Sometimes as soon as you mess up or as soon as something bad happens,
they're salivating at the chance to celebrate that. Oh, you're not as good as you thought you
were. You're not as pretty as you thought you were. You're not as smart as you thought you were.
It's just human nature. So just guard yourself and don't be so dependent on what people think
who don't know you and don't care to really get to know you. What would you add to that, Lucy?
The part about learn to disconnect from time to time is so important because, again, your life
shouldn't revolve around social media. You know, I have a husband. I have my dogs. I have a house
that I need to clean. I have, you know, a backyard that I need to tend to. I have my family that I
need to, you know, go visit and different things. So, again, you know, learn how to balance that
social media behavior with the real world, because, again, go out there and experience sun in your
or walking, touching grass, because, again, it seems like we're losing touch with reality by
being so much into our technological AI world. I love that. Why don't you all put in the chat
some of the ways that you disconnect. We can all learn from each other. And I love what Lucy said.
One of the last things that Vivian says, and, again, this is your elegance boot camp,
and she says, learn to disconnect from time to time. Scarcity promotes value. I love that,
and that's a struggle for me. You know, I love to stay connected, and I've shared with you all
in a previous episode that, you know, I would share even much more, but not everybody in my
family is okay with that. Sometimes we have people in our lives that are private people,
and we have to respect that. So, the scarcity promotes value. It almost makes me think of,
absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? And I have had to just shut it down. I mean,
part of the reason why we've adjusted this last week of the finishing the elegance boot camp is
because, you know, we can't always be what you all would like for us to be. It's so easy to sit
back and just more, more, more. We'd love to give it to you, but it is a lot to put on good quality
content, and that's what Lucy and I intend to do, and we're so grateful that you all have been here,
but we will go back after this to our weekly Wednesday Ask Us Anything, and there's so much
more that we do offline because the value of what we bring is information, yes, but really educating
and teaching women who are really ready to do the work, and that takes a dedication and a focus,
and we hope that in this series, you all have, you know, gotten to know who we are and seen our
teaching style. We really hope that it's brought you value, and we would love to continue teaching
with you all, but even we need a break, you know, sometimes, and I think it's good, and I think it's
healthy. So, don't put pressure on yourself, talking to myself, to be everything to everybody.
Sometimes, just disconnecting and going away is like food for the soul. It's almost like a medicine
that you can take that's not in a bottle, right? Lucy talks about the sun. Sometimes, you know,
I think, what would it be like if I just really enjoyed this meal and didn't take any pictures
of it, you know, but then my other brain is like, oh, but, you know, the world needs to know. So,
it's things like that, ladies, and I wrestle with it, too. It could be different, you know, for you.
You may get a shopping haul and just think, oh, you got to do this unboxing, but I promise you,
you'll be okay, and you can always capture it if you want to, but sit on it for a moment, you know.
Maybe you don't post it right away. I still have some stuff that I haven't shared that, you know,
when the time is right, not anything that I'm trying to hide, but it's like, you know, sometimes,
I just got to stop and say, okay, we have given a lot, and we love to be a blessing, and we know
that it's been helpful because the community keeps growing, but yes, that value really comes from
when you don't have access to something all the time. You tend to appreciate it more. What would
you say, Liz? I agree, and the sad thing about this content creating thing is that, unfortunately,
to earn more, to get your, I don't know, if you're expecting to get some financial gain
from posting things on social media, the more you're online, the more subscribers you're going
to get, the more hours that you're going to need to add to get monetized, I guess it is,
but that's where you make the decision whether you want to create content that is quality,
and because you want to share, or is it that you want to make social media your main line
of financial stream, and if that's what it is, then you're going to have to be fully invested
in creating content all the time without stopping, because I think that with YouTube,
if you stop posting, then somehow the algorithm doesn't share you with possible new subscribers,
so that's where you've got to make a decision whether you care about being monetized,
or you just want to create content to share it, and those who want to be with you will come,
and those who don't, then they won't. Yes, I love that, and ladies, ultimately, what Lucy said,
it is a decision, so you really want to take some time to sit with yourself to realize,
what do I want? There's so many forces out here, and sometimes people really mean well,
even in the corporate space, you know, sometimes they'll push you for that promotion, and
you've got to have that confidence inside, it's like, you know what, yeah, I know, that's not
really what I want, I appreciate it, but this is what I want, and don't be afraid of that,
don't let anybody bully you, you know, what I will say as, you know, a content creator who,
this is still a hobby for me, I mean, I love the audience that we have here, but
it's not my full time, maybe one day it will, but I follow a lot of creators that this is their full
time, and once you get behind the veil, you will hear them share about moments of burnout,
moments of, I don't know if I really want to do this, or I really don't want to make content today,
or stream today, I follow a certain content creator in the elegant space, and she has a very
big channel, I'm part of her Patreon, and you know, she has shared that sometimes she's just kind of
like, you know, I'm kind of known for this one thing, like being a one trick pony, you know,
this is my subject, and it's like, there's so much more to me, and sometimes I wonder
if I even want to do this, she was in a friend's wedding, it was a destination wedding, and so she
went to another, to an island to be like a bridesmaid, and all that, and was really happy,
and wanted to be, you know, part of the experience, but in her brain, because she's gotten so big,
she's like, oh, should I make content, people are going to want to know what it looks, and the
island, and the food, and all of that, I struggle with that a little bit too, I have a very small
channel, this person is well over a million, however, she said something that I just kind of
made a decision listening to her, she had videos that needed to go out, she wasn't there to do
filming, she had to get like a stunt double, because she does clothes, and whatnot, someone to kind of
model these clothes, she's back and forth with her team, and you know, trying to stitch the video
together, to make it look like it was her, and I'm just listening to all of this, and I'm feeling
stressful, I'm feeling stressed out, and it's not even my channel, and I made that decision then,
and there, and I told my man, I said, you know what, I love what I do, and ladies, I love teaching you,
and I do one-on-one consults outside of YouTube, and I'm still, you know, willing to help, but it
will be for a limited time on my time, so it's going to be first come, first serve, because I'm
no good to anybody if I'm burned out, and I'm not there, I'm actually in a really good space, I think
this has been a great series, and a great experiment, and you all have made it a success, and we are so
grateful, now it's recorded, it's on YouTube forever, Facebook forever, Twitter forever,
Twitch forever, Spotify playlist, you all can find our podcast on Spotify forever, as well as Pinterest,
so you can review this at any time, but you know, being a real person, those good days, and bad days,
I made that decision, and I told my man, I said, I really love what I'm doing, but I don't, I don't
want to grow so big, that I have a team of people that I'm responsible for, I want to be able to
turn it off, do it when I want to do it, but if I'm somewhere with you, I want to be able to turn it off,
and not have that drum beat of, you got to do this, I mean, we have seen content creators who,
you know, things have happened to their channels, or whatever, and they start panicking, because
they have taken on this responsibility, so you know, I know that's from the content creator side,
and that's what we share with you ladies, but even still, as a consumer of social media, or news, or TV,
or music, even me, sometimes I'm like, earbuds out, TV off, I'm just gonna wash dishes, for me
cooking and cleaning is very therapeutic, some, you know, it may be different for some of you, but
sometimes just that repetitive task, I'm just gonna fold this laundry, and listen to the silence,
there's birds outside, or you may hear an engine, or a motorcycle start, like I just really want to
get aware of other things, because I can just go podcast, after podcast, after playlist, after content,
after filming, after editing, so anyway, I hope you all have taken some things away from this,
and as much as you give, make sure you take time to disconnect too, anything else to say, Luz?
I love what you said, it's kind of like a social media cleanse, from time to time, just do like a
spring, summer, winter cleaning, and just stay out of it, and the concerning thing is that
it becomes addictive, and sometimes you can't get away from it, and I know that my husband sometimes
tells me, you know, you need to stop that, you know, you need to be with me in the moment, because
sometimes I'm watching TV, while I'm online, just, you know, moderating for someone, and he's like,
what are you doing, and I'm like, well, I'm moderating, he's like, I'm not understanding, so
that has, you got to be careful too, because then it becomes, you know, time away from your loved
ones, so again, just be careful, when you start hearing people saying, you're always online, what's
going on, that should be a flag to tell you, yeah, I need to, you know, slow down, and shut it down,
and focus on real life. So with that being said, ladies, that is the end of our 30-day
Elegance Bootcamp. This has been an absolute joy. We love seeing you all in the chat. We love hearing
your feedback, what your takeaways were. We loved putting this together for you. Thank you to Vivian
and Woman of Elegance for allowing us to teach from your book. Thank you to Brandon L. Jett for
making this available for our students, and thank you all for watching, whether you watched live, or
watched the replay, or shared, whether you were with us from the beginning, or whether you pulled up on two
wheels on the end, we are so happy to have you here. Again, the finishing school for the Modern Woman
starts again January 6th. Registration is open. We would love to teach ladies of all ages. It is a
Saturday school, recorded. You will have lifetime access. You can go to TeachableMomentsWithMaggie.com
for the registration and use discount code Black Friday for significant discounts for a limited
time. Lucy and I are planning a Maggie Lou meetup in April of next year. Stay tuned. 2024. We're going
to put something together. All of you all who want to travel to Atlanta and meet in person,
we will put something together so we can meet, and greet, and eat, and drink, and be married.
Until then, thank you on behalf of me and Lucy, the founders of the finishing school for the
Modern Woman. Lucy, anything to close us out? Can't wait to see you all in April. That's going to be
fun. Thank you all. Absolutely. The comments, the moderating, just any kind of ideas that you can
provide in our comments, that would be great. Maybe we could, if you provide one comment that
you would want us to share or to create content for, we'd love to. Thank you so much for being
with us on these 30 for 30 presentations. Absolutely. Yes. We'd love the feedback,
and we'd love to take your ideas. We will go back to our regularly scheduled program
on Wednesdays evenings. I've already forgotten the time, but stay tuned and turn on your
notifications. Lucy and I will be with you once per week instead of every day for a Q&A.
Ask us anything. You all will have the floor, and we can't wait to see you then. Until next time,
happy holidays. Thank you all so much. Adios.
