Hello, it's me.
Trong, I just went to see the exhibition in Trieng.
You're in the 40th place, right?
Yes.
Honey, the English class only takes 35 students.
For the time being, you are placed in the French class in the 2nd row.
Honey.
Hello everyone.
I'm Huynh Trang, 29 years old this year.
Are you guys busy today?
I encourage you to click and watch this video.
I guess it's because of the title of the book,
The Master of Literature.
Currently, I am a teacher at the Department of Foreign Studies.
And I am also a girl in this book.
And the girl who is crying at the beginning of the video is also me.
When you choose to watch this video,
maybe you don't want to hear about failure or negative experiences.
But a confident person is not because they know and they will definitely win.
For me, a confident person is someone who always knows that
whether they win or lose, they will still continue on the path they have chosen.
In 2010, I took the exam for the Department of Foreign Studies in an ordinary exam.
But also in the summer of that year, I dropped out of English.
English is more than a subject, it is the wings of a dream.
So one day, those wings were cut off.
I didn't study English and only had enough points to get into French class.
Between the two choices, I made a bold decision to change my life.
I chose to study French.
The excitement of learning a new language is only temporary.
Right after that are the difficulties of facing the opposite sex,
with the accent, with the French language, vocabulary and vocabulary.
I am a class president.
I also want to enter a prestigious university.
So I have to work hard to deal with the French language.
After about 3 years of hard work,
I also left behind some pretty good grades.
Now that I think about it, I still find myself really pitiful and also very despicable.
On the outside, I look like an excellent French student
with a lot of achievements, awards and knowledge.
But deep down, I know I'm just learning to deal with it.
And learning is very beneficial.
There are times when I think it's a fake.
All the lies eventually make us pay the price.
And the price I have to pay starts to appear when I enter the university.
I study media in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is famous for its very different language training.
My teacher is very good.
And most of my French-speaking friends have been studying French for 12 years.
My teacher talks, my friends argue, everyone laughs at each other,
they are uncomfortable with each other, but all I can do is not understand anything.
I just want to study something else.
And I feel like I don't belong in that class.
But in addition to the feeling of being lost, there is one more thing.
That is, I got my first C when I entered the university.
After all these years of being a good student,
I ended up being disqualified from my first semester
because my foreign language was too low and I couldn't improve.
I thought I would try to study, I would work hard, I would work hard,
I would be better, but no.
The more I studied, the less I studied, the more I was tired.
But then my foreign language was even lower.
And I started to fall into a long-term state.
I had to look for joy elsewhere.
I had to find inspiration elsewhere.
And the more I stayed away from school,
I was so bored, I felt exhausted.
I was disappointed in myself and I wanted to give up.
At the age of 20, I graduated from a foreign language school.
During that year, I tried to fill my life with a lot of activities,
with a lot of things.
And I thought that would help me forget the sadness, the pain,
and maybe I could take another exam, but no.
There was not a day when I didn't think about my school,
I didn't think about French, I didn't want to avoid it anymore.
I wanted to face it.
I considered that year as a break.
I observed everything around me and I realized a lot of things.
Then after a year, I went back to school.
At that time, I felt like God didn't believe in my decision.
So instead of creating conditions and supporting me,
He continued to challenge me with continuous failures.
Three times in a row, I failed the B2 French exam.
I failed it in a painful way.
It means that 50 points will be deducted,
but I failed every 4.7, 4.8 points.
If I didn't have B2 French, I probably wouldn't have been able to go to school.
And at that moment, I cried and then I felt like I had to embrace that pain.
I was calm to listen to see if there was any lesson
that was hidden behind those continuous failures.
And at that time, I realized that, wow, it turned out that 6-7 years ago,
I only studied to deal with, I only studied to get points for the exam.
I didn't have a little bit of love, a little bit of love for that language.
On a beautiful day, I decided that from now on, I will study for the exam.
I want to study for real.
And there is another saying like this,
if you are ready to study, the teacher will appear.
And right after that, a very special teacher appeared in my life.
It was only through the lines on Facebook that I read a text from the teacher
and felt that this was a very caring teacher.
So I applied to study.
During those 6 months, I only studied with the teacher online.
I didn't even have meetings, I didn't have online classes,
I just posted on the group.
Once, I did an exercise and did a lot of mistakes.
The teacher just finished teaching, and I thought he was very disappointed.
Maybe the teacher will scold me, the teacher will scold me badly, but no.
The teacher only said one sentence like this, and I still kept it on the phone.
The teacher said that my ability was not enough, I needed to practice more.
Actually, there are sayings of adults, teachers, and parents
that make us not want to try anymore.
But there are also sayings that help with hidden talents.
My teacher is a very kind person.
Through his sayings, I suddenly realized one more truth.
That is, I am just not trying enough.
If I try hard enough, I will be good.
My ability has not come yet.
It's not that I don't have the ability, but it hasn't come yet.
And if I persist in practicing, sooner or later it will come.
I began to realize that each person has a starting point.
I was born in a rural area, a poor community, with limited educational conditions.
And like today, it was a long process of effort.
Actually, I went very far from the starting point.
But I don't appreciate it.
And I often compare myself to my friends,
people who have a completely different personality.
I stand on my own path, but I still like to look at other people's paths,
and I want to have the peak of other people's peaks.
Comparing and creating that pressure is a very irrational and unfair thing for us.
I started to learn how to accept myself, accept the conditions and the current situation.
Then I forgave myself for my shortcomings.
Then I encouraged myself to try again.
After half a year of studying French,
I finally discovered a lot of beauties in French.
At least I know the French pronunciation.
I know that hello is not bonjour, but bonjour.
After that, I started to realize that the poems I read and listened to
were not only questions for me to practice,
but also French culture,
messages about life,
and information that I know about the outside world.
In the poems, in the speech, in the form of theory,
it's not just about presenting to get points,
but I also have to practice my ability to think.
When interacting in the French community,
I met many wonderful people,
from teachers, colleagues, to students.
It's a cultural community that makes me feel like I'm starting to see the way of life and thinking.
I took the B2 exam with the second highest score in the competition.
In a few months, I took the C1 exam,
a very good level in French,
and I never thought I would take the exam.
Finally, I went to school and started working.
Life is a chain of ups and downs.
After I graduated from school,
I overcame the obstacle of French.
Years later, there were a lot of changes in my life.
I also had a hard time.
There was a time when I was very depressed and lost faith in many things.
But after that, thanks to French,
I had a very meaningful job.
I had a stable income to take care of myself.
Then I continued my study by registering for a master's degree
in French International Studies and the University of Toulon.
And in this science,
I had a new life when I met a French professor.
He was the one who told me that I had to stick to it.
I needed to go deeper into this life.
And in French, it's from Saint-Garès and Etre compliqué.
With his advice, I decided to do social networking.
I did non-profit projects in education.
I was brave and determined enough to take the national exam
in a place that I was once afraid of.
So I applied, became a member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and became a member of the Ministry.
During those years, I struggled with many new goals.
I never forgot my dream of going abroad
and wanted to go further with my education.
In December 2023,
I prepared a thick file to submit to the Compte d'Excellence,
the French Embassy's scholarship,
a government scholarship for Vietnamese students.
It sounds easy,
but those months were horrible days for me.
Thinking back now,
I still don't understand
why I could go through such times in my life.
I worked for hours every day,
from morning to night.
I cried every day.
After the exam, I was inspired to work again
because I knew I had a lot of unfinished work.
I received a letter,
and I had a very long interview,
more than 40 minutes, with a committee of 5 people.
Next, I kept waiting,
waiting until the end of February.
And this is the result.
It's been almost 14 years since I stepped into the French class.
A lot of things have changed,
but my dream of going abroad
and falling in love with French has never disappeared.
On that long road, there were a lot of cranes,
a lot of thorns, rain and wind,
even elephants and chickens.
But clearly, I never left the road I chose.
I chose to learn French at the age of 55.
As planned, I will leave Vietnam in August this year.
Then I will continue my dream of education and media in the south of France.
At the end of the video,
I want to say thank you to those who are very important to my life.
I want to thank my parents,
my grandmother and my son,
my family and friends who have always been there,
always respected, patient and sympathetic with my decisions.
I also appreciate the help of the leaders of the Faculty of Foreign Affairs,
the leaders of the departments,
the professors of the International Department of French,
and even the professors of the University of Toulon.
During the process of preparing the flyer,
I received very enthusiastic help from the French Embassy and the Comité de France.
In addition, I know that the audience on the channel
has always followed, supported and participated enthusiastically
in my social projects.
Speaking of which, I want to say thank you to two very special people.
Thank you, Huyen, for being with me for 4 years,
respecting and supporting my decisions,
rejecting gender stereotypes
and letting me become a truly independent and free woman
to pursue my dreams.
And of course,
finally, I want to say thank you to Truong Nguyen Trang.
I want to hug myself.
I really don't know what else to say.
14 years, it's all over.
Guys, growing up is a long process,
and so is learning.
Learning in school, learning in everyday life,
learning from successes and failures,
the ups and downs that we've had.
For the exams, whether it's the exam at school
or the exam of life,
let's not let an exam define our human mind.
The exams will be the cornerstones,
will be the pillars for us to look back on the journey,
but without the thought that everything will stop there.
The important thing is that I still want to go on.
So I wish you and myself
We will enter the exams with a calm and confident mind.
Whether we win or lose, we will continue on the path we have chosen.
Let's promise each other like that.
Bye bye!
