that uh the president elect has been
talking about common sense saying that
he's bringing in an administration of

he's made some choices one of them is
your colleague Matt Gates and your
friend of Matt Gates
uh my observation sitting in the
Judiciary Committee he's always prepared
his questions are very
insightful um what would you like some
of those Senators to know about Matt
Gates as they as they question him and
they contemplate uh a a nomination vote
for him I think you're right he's one
one of the most
talented members uh certainly I've seen
it his ability to cross-examine is is
you know probably is one of the best
I've ever seen in in in Congress um and
I would just say this Matt Gates is
going to if Matt Gates is running the
doj uh they're not going to be you know
investigating moms and dads showing up
at Schoolboard meetings they're not
going to be uh having an FBI that's
putting out memorandums that say if
you're a pro-life Catholic you're an
extremist uh and maybe we'll have a
justice department that can actually
answer some some pretty basic things
that the American people like to know
for example we'd like to know who
planted the pipe bombs on January 6 been
four years I can't tell us um who leaked
the do's decision we we had
assassination attempt on on uh threats
to to uh Supreme Court of justices like
uh and and maybe how about how about
this one who put cocaine at the White
House my guess is you get someone like
mat run the the the justice department
will get an answer to some of those
questions and not be engaged in in some
of the ridiculous things like the Civil
Rights division sending a letter to
Glenn yunan sending a letter to Ohio
Secretary of State a few weeks before
Election Day saying oh you take you
can't take non-citizens off the voter
registration roles are you kidding me so
um again back to Common Sense and back
to enforcing the rule of law not not
