🔰Ondrea's Story | Harris-Walz 2024
I think our first love yous were within two weeks.
Kind of felt like a perfect love story.
More than anything, I've always wanted to be a mother.
Our prayers were answered when we found out
that I was pregnant, and we were just happy.
At 16 weeks, my water broke while I was at work.
That moment is something that changed the course of my life.
I was told that my baby would have no chance of survival.
I had lost all my amniotic fluid,
and I was high risk for infection.
Because I live in Texas,
I was denied the abortion care that I needed,
despite being told that my daughter would not survive.
I was terrified, and I just had to wait.
My daughter, Emery J., she passed away.
I do feel like I was robbed a chance to grieve my daughter
because immediately after her birth,
I was in the worst pain of my life.
I'd developed a massive septic infection,
and I went from burying my daughter
to fighting for my life.
I felt like I'm not gonna get to say goodbye.
And I remember thinking,
just God, allow me to be peaceful when I go.
First of all, I'm the one that got rid of Roe v. Wade,
and I'm proud to have done it.
Do you believe in punishment for abortion?
There has to be some form of punishment.
For the woman? Yeah.
He did this to me.
It almost cost me my life,
and it will affect me for the rest of my life.
Even though my wound is physically closed now,
there's a lot of parts of me that still feel open.
And now we may never, ever be able to get pregnant again.
This only happened to me
because Roe v. Wade was overturned.
I almost died because I was denied a medical abortion.
It shouldn't have ever happened, you know?
If these laws continue, it will cost more lives.
We must elect Kamala Harris.
Otherwise, what happened to me
will happen to even more women across this country.
