The topic of this lesson of free B1 German language course is the use of German conjunction bevor. Bevor is a conjunction in German language, there it requires hauptsatz and nebensatz. While using the German conjunction bevor, we require 2 events. The event of hauptsatz will have to occur first than the event of nebensatz. Nebensatz starts with German conjunction bevor which is followd by subject of sentence, then comes object of sentence and the verb of nebensatz goes to the last position in the sentence. So the lesson number 17 is again about a German grammar topic and at the end of lesson there is an exercise for the students to practice their learning of use of bevor conjunction in german language as well as the german sentence structure when using hauptsatz and nebensatz.
Assalamu alaikum and welcome to Germany for student channel.
Today is the 17th lesson of German language course B1 level.
In lesson number 17, we will study about a conjunction.
How can we make it using before conjunction?
In which situations can we use before conjunction?
And if we want to make sentences in German language with its help,
then what grammar rules should we follow?
So, let's start today's lesson.
Before is a conjunction.
So, we need two sentences to use it.
Hauptsatz and Nebenzatz.
First of all, let's see Hauptsatz.
Hauptsatz should have an event.
And this event should have happened before the event of Nebenzatz.
And from here, we know that there will be an event in Nebenzatz.
So, there will be an event in both Nebenzatz and Hauptsatz.
Event of Hauptsatz should have happened before.
And event of Nebenzatz should have happened later.
We will see this with the help of examples.
It will be very easy for you to understand.
Before that, let's see what will be the sentence structure.
Hauptsatz can be in present, perfect and preteritum.
If it is in present, then we will follow present sentence structure.
If it is in perfect, then we will follow perfect sentence structure.
And if Hauptsatz is in preteritum, then we will follow preteritum sentence structure.
Similarly, Nebenzatz can be in present, perfect and preteritum.
Now, let's see the examples and try to understand the usage of before.
We have two sentences.
Die Schüler wiederholen den Stoff noch einmal.
Now, these two sentences are in present.
So, we will follow present sentence structure on these two sentences.
Wiederholen means to repeat.
And Stoff has multiple meanings.
Here, it means content.
Die Schüler wiederholen den Stoff noch einmal.
Students repeat the content once again.
Sie schreiben die Prüfung.
They write the exam.
Now, if we pause here for a moment.
And see which event should be first and which event should be later.
So, students have to repeat their content first.
After that, they will write the exam.
Students have to repeat their content first.
So, the first event will be in Hauptsatz.
And in Nebenzatz, the event will be later.
So, they will write the exam later.
Sie schreiben die Prüfung in Nebenzatz.
And we will start Nebenzatz with the conjunction of before.
And the same formula will be applied on it.
Which we are applying on all conjunctions.
So, if we combine these two sentences with the conjunction of before.
So, it will be
Die Schüler wiederholen den Stoff noch einmal.
We will start Nebenzatz with comma before.
After that, subject of sentence will come.
Subject of sentence is Sie.
And Sie is referring to students.
Die Prüfung is the object of sentence.
Which is a feminine noun.
And Schreiben is the verb in Nebenzatz.
It goes on the last position of the sentence.
That's why Schreiben is at the end.
So, the meaning of this sentence will be
Students repeat their content again before they write the exam.
Let's see the next example.
In the next example, we have two sentences.
Wir haben die Tickets gekauft.
We have bought the tickets.
Die Preise sind gestiegen.
The prices have increased.
So, we bought the tickets first.
After that, the prices increased.
So, here we are describing two events.
One event happened before.
We will keep the first event in Hauptsatz.
We will keep the second event in Nebenzatz.
And using the conjunction before.
If we combine these two sentences.
So, it will be
Wir haben die Tickets gekauft.
We have bought the tickets.
Before die Preise gestiegen sind.
The prices have increased.
Here, both sentences are in perfect tense.
And we are using the verb haben in the first sentence.
Because whenever we use haben.
For that, we have to use haben.
And in the second sentence.
We are using the verb steigen.
Whenever we use the verb steigen.
So, we have to conjugate the verb sein.
If we conjugate the verb sein.
According to die Preise.
So, it will be
Sein.
Let's see the next example.
In this also, both Hauptsatz and Nebenzatz are in perfect tense.
Sie hat ihre Hausaufgaben erledigt.
Sie ist mit ihren Freunden ausgegangen.
There are two events.
The first event will be in Hauptsatz.
The second event will be in Nebenzatz.
We will apply the conjunction before.
So, the first event is
Sie hat ihre Hausaufgaben erledigt.
So, on these two sentences.
We use the conjunction before.
And we combine these two sentences.
Sie hat ihre Hausaufgaben erledigt.
Sie ist mit ihren Freunden ausgegangen.
Let's see the next example.
In this also, both Nebenzatz and Hauptsatz are in perfect tense.
Er hatte lange in der Bibliothek recherchiert.
Er fing mit dem Schreiben seiner Arbeit an.
There are two events in these sentences.
The first event is before.
The second event is after.
The first event will be in Hauptsatz.
The second event will be in Nebenzatz.
The third event will be in Nebenzatz.
If we combine these two sentences with the conjunction before.
Er hatte lange in der Bibliothek recherchiert.
Er fing mit dem Schreiben seiner Arbeit an.
He researched in the library for a long time.
Before he started writing his work.
Let's see the next example.
Ich wartete eine halbe Stunde.
I waited for half an hour.
Der Bus kam endlich.
Finally the bus came.
Both sentences are in Preteritum.
If we combine these two sentences with the conjunction before.
Ich wartete eine halbe Stunde.
I waited for half an hour.
Before der Bus endlich kam.
Before the bus finally came.
This was the use of the conjunction before.
Now let's come to the homework.
There are two sentences here.
Er hat sich gut vorbereitet.
He prepared himself well.
Er hatte Präsentation gehalten.
He gave a presentation.
Präsentation gehalten means to give a presentation.
Pragehalten means to give a lecture.
To give a lecture or a presentation.
We use the verb halten.
Die Firma Analysier den Markt gründlich.
Did a good analysis.
Sie entwickelte eine neue Strategie.
He created a new strategy.
Who? The company.
In these two examples you have to apply the conjunction before.
Here you have to see which is the first event.
And which is the next event.
The first event will go to Hobsarts.
The second event will go to Nebensaars.
Nebensaars will start with before.
And the sentence structure of Nebensaars.
We know that the verb will go at the end.
After before will come the subject.
Then the object.
If there is an object in the sentence.
And if there is a preposition.
Then it will come.
And the verb will always be on the last position of the sentence.
I hope that you will clear the conjunction before.
If you have any questions.
Then put in the comment.
See you in the next video.
Allah Hafiz.
