thank you Mr Speaker arise today to
present to you house bill
72 which amends KRS
311b
020 which deals with limited x-ray
machine
operators House Bill 72 does two things
and only two things the first thing it
does is allow limited x-ray machine
operators to operate and do their jobs
in the same facilities as other imaging
technology machines and operators such
as fluoroscopy
uh MRIs that sort of thing the second
thing this bill does is it very clearly
states and emphasizes the limited scope
of practice that limited x-ray machine
operators can perform it intentionally
identifies the limits for these machine
operators just a little bit of
background um up until 2012 x-ray
machine operators were allowed to
operate in the same facilities as other
uh Imaging and and diagnostic technology
in 2012 General Assembly passed uh
legislation that forced x-ray machine
operators to be relocated into a
separate facility from all the other uh
Imaging and diagnostic Technologies so
let's think about this for a minute if
you had a broken leg and you were
wanting to go to a
facility and um see the doctor see how
your leg was doing if you needed an
x-ray you would go into one building see
the doctor and then you would have to
limp over to a second building a
different building to get an x-ray and
then limp back over to see the doctor
again to find out what that x-ray was
because of this
legislation what house bill 72 does
again is simply amend the law to allow
x-ray machine operators competent
trained certified operators to be
located in the same building as these
other Imaging
Technologies so very quickly in 2012
what this what would have happened in
2012 was on one day an x-ray machine
operator would have been operating
legally in a building and the next day
their employer would have three options
one relocate the X-ray machine into a
different
facility Two Fire the operator or three
be out of compliance with the new
law to be honest this simply did not
make any sense to me so again this is
the purpose of House Bill 72 it doesn't
do anything other than that doesn't
change the scope of service in fact
again it re-emphasizes the scope of
service and uh it allows xray x-ray
machine operators to legally operate in
the same building as everybody else in
that practice Mr Speaker subject to any
questions I move for passage of fville
