Trolls are evil creatures and were born in Scandinavian mythology and folklore.
They are usually depicted as fighters of great stature and unfriendly appearance, but they can also be tiny beings.
Traditionally, trolls were part of the imagination of Scandinavia's children as a kind of boogeyman.
The trolls would be creatures with great physical prowess, but lacked a great intellect, being similar to ogres.
These creatures often lived in dark and dangerous places, and the highest chance of crossing paths with one was during nighttime.
Traditionally, they did not appreciate sunlight, and in many myths and legends, they would be petrified when in direct contact with it.
In Norway, there is an exotic geological formation known as Trolltunga.
According to the local folklore, this rock would be the tongue of a petrified troll.
In Norse mythology, the trolls would be something like a jötunn, the Norse giants and enemies of the Asgardian gods.
But the presence of the trolls is mostly found in Nordic folklore.
Sometimes it was said that they fed on human flesh.
And with the arrival of Christianity in the region, the troll started to represent everything that was impure and demonic.
The trolls became world-known creatures much due to J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings.
The creatures can be found in Middle Earth, and the trolls were cannibal giants, dark-blooded and with plenty of brute force.
As evil creatures, they responded to Sauron's call and began to serve in the army of Mordor.
Tolkien's troll inspired the trolls that would be one of the most common opponents in RPG games set in fantasy worlds.
Nowadays, the troll is still present, but instead of hiding in the darkness, these creatures hide behind laptop screens, promoting all sorts of evilness.
