大家好,我是奧迪迪的小虎
今天我和你們分享歐洲人怎麼喝英式下午茶
這個視頻是布蘭圖贊助的
謝謝布蘭圖
這個是英式下午茶
所以我們不說中文
My British English is also not that great
所以我們就說German English
In 1600, the first British sailors brought tea back to Britain
and praised this drink as the Chinese people did
as a really great medical drink
At first, it was only for the super rich
It was also a way of showing status
that you can afford great tea imported from China
plus very expensive sugar
Really quickly, tea went much deeper into English history
And also, the upper middle class could afford it
but they always wanted to show status
So when they drank it, they behaved like the super rich
The upper society used afternoon tea just for a social event
for some gossiping
The lower class used it to take a break in the afternoon
and just refill that energy to have a strong working day
You can find it nowadays in a village
just with homemade bakeries and really cozy environment
but also in high-class five-star hotels in London
Afternoon tea is not just about tea
It's also very much about food
There are various traditional snacks
that English people love for their afternoon tea
Estachier like this became very popular in England for afternoon tea
On top, normally is a very sweet section
It can be different cakes
Often, spongy cakes
On the second layer, scones
Very, very typical for England
and should never miss at a good afternoon tea
On the third level, there is a section of savory sandwiches
Traditionally, it can be egg, tuna
or just some butter with some chives
Nowadays, there's also some more fancy afternoon teas
They will serve all kind of different salty snacks
Maybe some smoked salmon or other things
Like in China, British people have their very own ceremony to drink tea
And you better get that right when you travel to England
At first, add some boiling water into the empty kettle
Swinging it around just to warm the kettle
This water, just throw it
We are ready to add tea
In England, there's three ways to add tea to the can
Just loose as Chinese people do it
And use this sieve to sieve it out just before serving
Or you use a tea bag
Or you use this kind of tea egg
In China, I've never seen this
But European people use it quite a lot
After adding the tea, add the boiling water
British people have various times of the day for drinking tea
Morning, lunch and afternoon
Each time requires a different tea
And a different strength
In the morning, you might brew it not that long
And in the afternoon, when you want that extra punch of energy
You brew it one, two minutes longer
Normally, it is in between two to five minutes
Black tea was by far the most spread tea in England
Nowadays, green and oolong tea is also easy to be found
Earl grey black tea is something you will see a lot
If you travel to England
Which used to be a black tea
Infused with certain oils to give it extra flavor
Nowadays, though, watch out
There is also green and even oolong earl grey tea
Restaurants in Europe and also families
They like the convenience of tea bags
They might offer you something like this
A selection of different teas just simply in a bag
Many these kind of tea bags in Europe
Often don't even have tea inside
European people like to call anything with hot water tea
They even have fresh mint tea
Which is basically just water with fresh mint
These kind of tea bags
They can also be fruit teas
They could be like rooibos teas
Which are very popular
But they could also just be black tea, oolong tea or green tea
After a few minutes of brewing
The tea is always taken out
Otherwise, it becomes too strong
Many of you have seen in movies or read about
English people like to drink their tea with sugar and milk
This is a very old traditional thing
As I told you, tea and sugar always went together
As two luxury commodities
But watch out
This only counts for the popular black tea
Green tea can be sweetened with sugar if you like it
But you don't add milk
At first, goes the tea into the cup
After that, some sugar as much as you like
Traditionally, British people used white sugar
If you go to a fancy hotel nowadays
To have some English afternoon tea
They also have brown, white or sweetener
You can choose whichever you like
Last but not least, some milk
Afternoon tea in the English cottage can be quite casual
You go there as you please
And you just have a good time
But high afternoon tea in London
You better dress up a little bit business casual
A shirt and some nice long pants
Watch out
If you do drink tea on a table
You never remove the plate from the table
The good manners is to only remove the cup
And always leave the saucer just where it is
After sipping one sip
Just place it back on the saucer
Never on the table
If you're drinking tea sitting or standing
Just make sure hold the saucer with one hand
And when drinking, take the teacup
Drink and place it back
Watch out though
The saucer should never go higher than hip waist
You don't want to swing the teacup wildly around
Or bring it above your hip
That is considered very rude
Just keep it low and nice
In some movies, you might have seen people
Drinking tea something like this
But actually in Britain
This is considered very rude
You should have all your fingers
Nicely benched together
Not spreading any of them out there
The teaspoon is just a tool
After stirring, just place it on the saucer
Not on the table and not in the cup
Afternoon tea with some snacks
We European people like to go from salty to sweet
We start with some small finger sandwiches
Just grab it
Don't spread your fingers out
And have a bite
Something that can never miss
At a good English afternoon tea is scones
Scones are always eaten with clotted cream
And some strawberry jam
This is very traditional
And this is how British people love to eat their scones
This one is a little bit crunchy
In Britain, they are normally soft
Still an oucher
For the sponge cake
English people traditionally like a sponge cake
Like a Buttenberg or a Victoria cake
But nowadays when you go for some afternoon tea
You can get all kinds of different versions of pastries
At home or at work
Not everyone follows this high class ceremony
Many people just use a mug and brew a builder's tea
The mug, tea bag inside
Hot water on top
This is not supposed to happen
Best is to just sling it around the cup one time
After brewing to the desired strength
Remove the teacup
Add some sugar
And some milk
Tea break like this
Just a builder's cup of tea
Is nowadays taken around 11
Or in the afternoon between 3 and 4
A more traditional way of afternoon tea
With all kinds of stuff to eat
Plus a more traditionally served tea
Will normally be taken between 3.30 and 5
As mentioned, European people love fruity teas
Bourbon too makes various kinds
And blends of European style teas
With all kinds of different fruits
And all kinds of different flavors
You can buy their products in various cities
All over China
Or of course on their Taobao store
If you mention you're an Audi leader
Xiaohu fan
They will give you a small gift for free
Also make sure to like and share this video
And there will be a lottery for three lucky people
To win some tea gifts
Thank you so much for watching this video
And I hope next time
When you travel to Europe
You're settled for your
European style of tea ceremony
