Hey Yu Ming, how's it going?
Brian, well, I remember you, Brian.
Senior analytic figure drawing class in the Spring Art Center.
Can't thank you enough for how much that class improved my anatomy and for being my favorite class so far. Thanks.
I appreciate that.
Are you still in term now? How are classes going?
What quality do you love to see in your students?
What do you call a real hard work?
I think the students that are most successful are the ones that are the most kind of inquisitive or interested in whatever the subject is, I guess.
So people are asking a lot of questions and doing the work or doing more than what is asked is also good.
Also great playlist recommended and I still use it when I work. That's very awesome.
I'm still adding songs to that, by the way.
Will you be offering your head drawing course again in the future?
Yes, Zaruzak. The next sessions are probably going to start sometime in September, although I don't have an exact date set.
Hey Ethan, how's it going?
Got my sketchbooks and have realized I haven't been drawing clothes models. I'm fucked.
Uh oh, J-Rock.
Better get on that.
Not doing summer since online isn't really for me without a good studio space to work.
Yeah, that's kind of how I feel teaching at art center.
So I don't know. We'll see how the year rolls out, I guess. Hopefully it's not years.
Who is your teacher?
A few teachers, I guess.
At art center, I think the big one I learned from was Laurie Madden.
She was actually a contemporary of Glenn Vilppu when he was at art center.
And around the time Carl Ganas and Carmian and all them were there.
And then the other person I learned a lot from was Danny Gagliotti.
He used to be a Disney animator, but now he's kind of doing his own fine art painting stuff.
You can find his stuff on Instagram. He's doing a lot of cool stuff there.
But Laurie, you don't really see her work anymore.
She's kind of old school and very private.
So she really doesn't have any kind of social media presence.
Michelangelo is pretty good. He's all right.
I'm a huge fan of the old masters.
If you go to the Italian Renaissance, you can look at Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo.
All the Ninja Turtles and Peter Paul Rubens.
Any artists to look at for learning?
I would look up the famous artist course.
I might have brought that in for the class.
There's binders for that online class.
Or not online, but there's a mail away class from the 60s.
You might look up like Albert Dorn or any of the Golden Age illustrators.
Layne Decker, Norman Rockwell.
All those guys are pretty good.
Let's see.
That's about 320.
Do something kind of quick.
And it's off the bed.
The hatching is so nice.
I'm going to look up Will Weston.
Will Weston is good.
All right.
See you, Zeng.
Have a good night.
Drawing the underside of the jaw is my weakness.
Any other tips?
Just keep it simple.
Just draw this wedge.
That's all the head kind of breaks down into.
You can see Mikey here drawing that same wedge.
There's definitely more stuff going on, right?
There's more anatomy that happens on a very basic level.
It's just that wedge.
This guy is really skinny.
I'm going to go to sleep.
Thanks for tuning in, everyone.
And I will see you later.
Hope you enjoyed the stream.
Have a good night.
