It's been a bit of a wild day. Firstly, we've unveiled our new hardline kit.
This is my all purple Mavericks piece.
There's actually a bloke stood here. I know you can't see him.
This is Brayton's full hunter spec.
It's a photographer's nightmare.
Jono's is yet to be unveiled, but practice has been a bit hellish for me.
So I got a puncture this morning as the main crew, the alphas, moved down the course.
Everyone hit the cliff drop, which I hate, but I didn't get to do it.
Jono actually opened it up for everyone, which was sick.
Then they all hit the 90s, and by the time I fixed my puncture and got back up there,
it was too windy to ride.
So I've not really done any of the stuff I wanted to do today.
And I've been pulled to one side to do this wingsuit shoot.
So Amber Forte has been buzzing the course in a squirrel suit,
and they wanted to set up a shot.
Two-twenty-two.
My bad.
But we've got all afternoon. I'm buzzing on these kits,
and we've got some brand new rival kits coming to the website next week.
Look at us.
I'm hoping to ride every feature today.
I need all the practice I can get, but it is windy.
Let's see what happens.
Rider!
I got a puncture hitting that right-hand berm,
and so I've got to get a lift down now.
All the lads are hitting the cliff drop.
Jono's just opened it up for everyone.
This is my least favourite feature.
Now I'm going to miss the practice session on it,
which makes me feel worse, but I don't know if I'd have done it anyway.
Right, my puncture's fixed, but I've missed the brigade.
Like, all the top-fuelling alphas just moved like a swarm of locusts
down in one massive progression train.
And now I'm part of the cannon fodder left behind.
The 90s have got windy since everyone's jumped them,
so we're now in, like, the hangout club that have to wait for the wind to die
and everyone else will be headed down.
So I've still got to hit that cliff drop badly.
I've got to do these 90s.
It's amazingly sunny, but the wind does suck,
and it'll catch you out 90 foot in the air.
Get it, gang!
It's windy.
You can feel it there on the on-off, eh?
He went deep.
Good decision.
Let's do it later.
We've lost the alpha group, and now we've not got alpha mentality.
Boys at the back of the bus.
I'm going to do this beeline and get down.
Hello, Grace.
Whoa.
Woo, that rock!
I always forget about that bad boy.
All right, Brooker.
Nah, I'll stop.
How you doing?
Not bad.
What's the general decision here?
Yeah, they're all trail armor in there.
Thank you.
Chill is what we like to hear, sir.
Oh, no.
Nothing chill about that.
I can't do this bit.
Here we go.
Right, coming.
Oh, it's rapid!
Into my next least favorite section.
Oh, God, a bit off.
Oh, no.
All right, settle.
There's a run to put behind me.
You two want to go, and I'll go at the back.
That makes the most sense.
You'll know this better than me.
I do know it.
Right.
Go on, Jono.
Get it, bro.
Go on.
Yeah, boy.
There's a good line he showed me there.
Has he already pulled so far?
Could have jumped that.
Well, I've been hitting this way too slow.
That was nice of Jono.
Still too slow.
Well, nice, but rubbish for racing.
I rode all that fast, so I could.
Mate, you were rapid.
You showed me a nice line.
Thank you.
Ready?
Good luck, guys.
Get it, Jono.
Munched up now.
Mate, how munched up is that getting up there?
What's the latest down here?
Are you going to do it?
Yeah.
Go on then, bro.
All right, guys.
I know you can only see a bike, but there's a bike and rider coming.
Rapid.
You went off it so fast.
Yeah, I'm not going to go that quick.
Do you want to go?
Should I go?
You're all good, yeah.
Should I go?
Yeah.
You got it, man.
Oh, my God.
That is insane.
That's ridiculous.
You just can't stop.
Can't race that.
Why has it all got to be so preposterous?
Oh, mate, that cliff drop's so ****.
I went miles off the fadeaway.
They're doing a lovely job, man, to be honest.
Yeah.
It's the best everything's ever been.
Here's to Jon-boy.
Yeah, Jon-boy.
Oh, look how windy the 90s are.
At least that's all I've left to do, I suppose.
I hope the race is on that beeline.
Yeah, it's fun.
I cased the drop.
I went skid.
Did you hear me skidding down the hill?
Yeah.
I went, no one would have gone that slow today, would they?
No, I said, when you did your break in the corner, I was like, okay, cool.
You won't break.
And I heard the screed and I was like, but then everyone said you got it all right.
Bit long.
I just can't go down off stuff.
I probably got as much air off the following fadeaway as I did the drop.
Like that, you build insane speed there.
Especially if you go long.
Every bike length long on that step down is like another so many miles an hour.
Are you going to go straight off the road gap?
I've never got through the rock garden well.
Let's let these go through.
Oh, yeah.
Let them go.
You go, yeah.
Jono, wait, let them go.
They're good.
We can go.
Yeah.
I'll leave a gap.
Wow, he's so good.
Whoa.
Right.
That one's up there.
Slippery.
My helmet goes down over my face off that.
I can hear it.
It's all behind me.
Oh, God.
Whoa.
You're all right.
Okay.
Well, that's another box tick, but some terrible riding.
That's so tricky.
All right.
Yeah.
A bit more practice.
Still haven't done those nineties and this wind feels pretty gnarly.
Leave a bit of a gap, bro.
You'll need a minute.
Oh, it's steady.
Steady away.
There's someone behind me.
Fifth place.
Yeah, there is.
He caught me up quick.
Anyone doing that drop from the top?
Yeah.
Mateo does it.
Come in.
Yes.
Just made it round.
Oh, yes.
I hate that thing, man.
You're going all the way through him.
Are you peddling or speed tucking?
Speed tucking.
I think he'll be all right, right?
He's got a huge tree in his wheel, but I think it was all right.
It was rolling good.
Get it, bro.
Let's do this.
Big job.
Massive job.
That's all the features.
Yes.
God, I've got a fly in my mouth.
Oh, man.
Since doing DarkFest, man, big jumps just feel so good.
Way offline.
Terribly offline.
A bit of trials.
I've stopped more than I've stopped twice so far.
Big breaks.
Keep the speed.
Oh, this is...
Oh, why am I just breaking?
I'm going to have to pedal again.
I had two whopping breaks and I've still got...
Yeah, you have to.
You did the 90s?
Yes.
Well done, man.
You got no front brake?
Well, how have you done a run?
Just walking back to the start.
So the rules are that you have to do a full run, top to bottom,
before you're allowed to do qualifying tomorrow.
So I'm going to try and do that now because the wind's picking up this afternoon,
which will definitely mean they close the 90s again.
I did just jump them but I didn't complete the full run
and I kind of need the adrenaline of a race run to make me do it.
I don't think I've ever done a full run here without...
No, I've never done a full run not in qualifying or race run
and last year didn't complete a race run because my tyre came off.
Yeah, let's see.
I'm going to try and do it now.
I honestly can't see it happening.
I think my arms are going to give up.
Right, the 90s are closed.
They've shut the 90s.
Can't do a top to bottom then.
Well, I guess I can go through the beeline and not stop.
Leave a big gap, please, bro.
Like a minute.
Have fun.
You'll catch me 100%.
You might even catch me before these trees.
See you, boys.
Let's try and relax.
Thank goodness it's dry.
Oh, wow, it's slippery.
It's faster than normal.
That is insanely chopped up now.
Goodness gracious me.
Stop.
Wow, that's insane every time.
I'm doing good here.
All right, lads, I want to see a slow one.
The more dangerous line.
I've not stopped yet.
That's better.
My arms are cooked.
I can't get my feet back on the pedals.
Feet are all over the place.
Clippings next year.
Oh, I'm going so slow, man.
No one's ever taken longer to get down there.
That was knackering.
Bike feels insanely good.
I didn't stop.
Nice.
But they just shut the 90s before I dropped in.
So I had to do the beeline.
That's good practice, though.
At least I know where I'm going.
So technically, I've done a top to bottom, which means I ticked that rule.
It means I can race tomorrow.
Down there at the end, I'm like on my heels.
My elbows start dropping because my arms are getting tired.
I did it, though.
I'd like to see the 90s.
I think I could probably rest now till tomorrow.
