Well, he's got to take a deep breath now, the 25-year-old
representing Poland here.
This is the fourth time for him at the World Championships.
He's never made the cut.
He's never got into the top 24.
He's got to skate as clean as he can here.
This is Vladimir Samoylev for Poland.
That should have been the quad salchow.
Perfect comeback.
Quality etched all over that triple axel.
And again, so quick with the rotation on the combination, triple lutz, triple toe.
Well, he gave it everything he got.
I'll tell you what, Fatboy Slim has never sounded any better, has he?
Some great interpretation there.
And another phenomenal comeback, to be honest, because the mistake
on the salchow would have felt dreadful.
His right foot was about three miles away.
It was down the park, wasn't it?
He was on his way to New York.
But somehow, someway, he got his rhythm back and moved on.
Perfect triple axel, wasn't it, to follow.
And then he never looked back.
Loved it.
It was a great recovery.
And who knows how skating after a hometown skater
would have affected his nerves or brought him out of his own headspace.
But he did a great job to recover after that first element.
He only was awarded 2.21 points for the opening triple salchow,
where when he does his good quad with a positive grade of execution,
like at Europeans, he earned over 13 points.
So that will see a huge reduction in the total score we're going to see.
But he did everything he could after that mistake.
The problem is you can't give 10 points away in the short program, can you?
Let's take a look.
Oh, man, it's the worst feeling, isn't it?
When you're up there and you think, where the heck is my right foot?
That's scary.
This was beautiful, though.
Really well done.
Earning a healthy grade of execution on that
to earn over 10 points on the triple axel here, the triple lutz.
Little unsteady there.
He does well to be patient
to reach back for the triple toe loop.
About now, the funk soul brother.
Check it out now.
The funk soul brother.
Right about now.
The funk soul brother.
Check it out now.
That spin position was a highlight as well.
Another cartwheel.
That's a difficult exit of a spin.
Again, not always visually appealing.
I think when you skate to Fatboy Slim, it's OK.
Yes, you can get away with it, can't you?
He has some really good interpretation, I thought.
That's not going to challenge for the lead.
Obviously, he wants to get as much as he can.
Eighty five point nine eight.
He got to the European Championships.
He's not going to be in the 80s, obviously, with that mistake.
Seventy five. Seventy three. Yeah.
I think he'll take that, to be honest, with that mistake.
And that has him in fifth place
in behind Mikhail Selevko for Estonia.
