If you're curious what a typical day in the life is like living in a motorhome, then this video is for you! Join us on a realistic Saturday in our lives as full-time RVers! In case you didn't know, we're an age gap couple with a 20 years age difference between the two of us! We make a great team, but every now and then our different generations show through 😍
Oh gross. Oh god what is it? Chris and Axel bring in so much dirt. We have to vacuum every single day.
The jeep actually working today? You can always tell when he doesn't want to be left behind.
He's like put me in the car. Butter makes everything better. Today I'm gonna be a bad
wife and just make you heated leftovers. We've been living full-time in our motorhome for the
past three years and so many people assume that it's like being on a permanent vacation
but the reality is it's a house that just so happens to be on wheels and even though it's
smaller than a traditional house, RV life still has its challenges. Today we're taking you through
a realistic day in the life of what it's like to live in your RV while staying at a luxury motor
coach resort. So grab a snack or a coffee and come join us for the day. So this is my favorite part
of the day. Usually while Hillary's getting dressed I take care of all of the black and
gray tanks. So come out here and actually empty them all. Make sure we're good to go for the day.
I won't show you what's going on but we're definitely emptying the tanks. Come on Axe,
let's go. Come on, let's go find your mom. Come on, let's go. Baby, it's a beautiful day outside.
Yeah, we should go for a walk. Maybe go to the beach. Axel wants to come with. Axel wants to
help you make the bed. I know you think this is a waste of time but I always think it's nice to
start the day with a maid bed. I love going to bed at night in a maid bed. Although there's never
much point to making it because you and Axel always mess it up every day, huh? Come here,
what do you think? Are you ready? No point in making, messing up a maid. Do you hear him talking?
Are you ready to go for a walk? Do you want to go? Somebody wants to go for a walk. All right,
come on, let me have a coffee real quick and then we can go. Let's go. Nespresso coffee pods. Chris
always makes the absolute best coffee. He's kind of ruined me. Like Starbucks and stuff,
I just don't even drink it anymore. His coffees are the absolute best. Do you want vanilla or
lavender? We're both. Surprise me. Getting the vanilla lavenders. Get your syrup collection down
here too. Not too bad, not that many. You can already see Axel come and lick him in his lips.
As soon as he sees that whipped cream canister, he just starts licking his lips like he can't wait
for a puff cup. Homemade whipped cream, fresh cream, a little bit of sugar. Ever since you
started making it this way, I feel like we can't go back. And nitrogen. And it's pretty simple.
Like, oh gosh, I see it. You want a puff cup? You want one?
I'm sure that's good and healthy for him too. A puff cup a day keeps the vet away is what we
should say. Is that good buddy? A little cream and sugar. A little bit of milk. A lot of whipped
cream. That looks really good. It is pretty good. H cup and a night. What is it? Caramel or
lavender latte? Lavender. How's the coffee? It really is. It's such a simple thing, but it is
really good. Axel is so obsessed with whipped cream now. I am too, if I'm honest. The real
stuff is so much better than the fake stuff. No, it's really good. I like the lavender. I would do
this again. I'm glad you like it. All right buddy, let me finish this and then we'll go for a walk,
okay? Deal? Is that a deal? Yeah, can you stay? Sit? Do you want to go for a walk? Shake? Okay,
come on. Of course he wants to go for a walk. All right Bubba, you ready? You ready man? Come on,
let's get your shoes on. Oh wow, look how nice and sunny it is. Yeah, it's gonna be nice. Is it
cold out? Do I need a jacket? Not at all. No, it's nice. In Michigan, it's always so hard to
tell whether it's gonna be cold, a little chilly in the shade, or perfect and sunny like it is
right now. It's probably a little chilly in the shade, but it's fun. All right, come on bud,
come on. Don't forget your slip-on shoes. Thank you. Axel, this way buddy, you're going the wrong
way. Come here. Axel's already taken off. He's ready to go. He's gonna take himself for a walk.
Axel, come here. Hey, there he is. What are you doing? All right, let's get your leash. Come on.
Okay, you ready buddy? It really is gorgeous out here. I know, I can't believe it's early October.
It is nuts that it's already October and it's still this nice out. I thought for sure like
the leaves would be gone and stuff, but we still got green trees, green grass. All right buddy,
you ready? We're finally going man, let's go. He's so excited. So what do you want to do today?
Well, something outside. I mean, it's a nice day. We should take advantage of the last few
nice days in October, I'm sure. We should take Axel swimming at the beach. He probably only has,
what, a couple days left of that before we head out for the winter. That's a good idea.
It'd be fun. Go to the winery, go play putt-putt golf. I'm going to play putt-putt golf. Why is
that your favorite thing ever to do? I don't know, I like it. I also like Disney World,
what can I say? We should go to the winery though, like you said, that would be fun. We
haven't been there in a while. Winery would be great this afternoon. Sit outside and have a
flight. That's right, and get a pizza or something. Oh, that'd be cool. Before we go though, don't
forget we got to finish our courses for the day. We do have to do our courses and get ready for our
big overseas trip at the end of the year. I can't believe in just, what, like two months we're
going to be. Cool, we get to go to a couple new countries we haven't been to. It's going to be
nice. It's going to be so weird to actually take our first trip out of the RV in quite a while.
Yeah, true. I'm excited to not have to cook or clean or do the dishes or anything for a
couple weeks. That'll be fun. Our official honeymoon. We just got back from our walk
and we're going to spend a little bit of time going through our language learning courses
together. So for those of you who don't know, Chris and I actually just got married earlier this month
here in beautiful northern Michigan and we're going on our honeymoon in December. We're going
to take a cruise to Vietnam and Thailand. We're so excited to go on this trip together and take a real
vacation away from the RV, which we haven't done in years. So this will be really fun. Before we go
though, we wanted to take some time to learn Vietnamese so that way we can really immerse
ourselves in the culture. And that's why we started using Rosetta Stone. It's not just about memorizing
words. Rosetta Stone is an immersive method that teaches through real life context, images, and
phrases. The lessons are interactive and are made for the real world. And being able to quickly learn
essential travel phrases is perfect for us getting ready for this trip. Learning a new language can
be really frustrating, but Rosetta Stone makes it easy. Lessons are as short as five minutes and
they fit right into our busy schedule. And we love how flexible it is. We can do it on our laptops or
on our mobile phones so that we can practice from anywhere. One of our favorite features is the
tool, which gives us real-time feedback so that we're not guessing on how things sound.
That way when we arrive in Vietnam, we'll be much more prepared and confident. Chris and I have been
to a lot of countries together and anytime we travel somewhere new, we try to be respectful
to their cultures by not expecting them to speak English. Plus it's been really fun to learn a new
language together. If you have an upcoming trip or if your goal is to learn a new language, then use
the exclusive link in the description below. With this link, you can access all 25 languages from
Rosetta Stone for 60% off an unlimited lifetime language subscription. We can't wait to put our
new Vietnamese lessons to the test and experience this beautiful new country together on our honeymoon.
All right, you done with your lessons for the day? I'm barely up dry. It's not easy. It's not easy
learning Vietnamese. No. All right, come on. Let's go make some lunch. Axel, you ready for some lunch?
Come on, buddy. Let's go. All right, buddy. It's lunchtime. Come on. Let's go. Let's go make some food.
Come on, man. Let's go. Today I'm going to be a bad wife and just make you heated leftovers.
It's not bad because I've had this pizza before. I know it's good. Why do you say that now? I'm a bad wife
instead of just a girlfriend now. You can't. I feel like I've been upgraded. It's true. You have been. So we
made pizza last night in our pizza oven over here, which makes the world's best pizza. So now we have
this whole pizza here, leftover, which I'm just going to reheat. I bet it's still going to be
pretty good. It's going to be great. Everybody loves leftover pizza. That looks pretty good.
You want some chips? Smells good. I don't know why you like these sweet onion chips. Those are the
best. They're so strong. I can't kiss you for like half an hour afterwards. Well, they're good chips.
There's the downside that I don't get kissed. That is true. All right, here you go, babe.
Thank you. This looks good. Yeah, those are good chips. What do you think, buddy? After we have our pizza,
we can go for a swim. How's that sound? Sounds awesome. This is really turning into the perfect day.
All right, so what do we have to do before we leave here? Like, what else do we have to pack up and get
ready? We got to start thinking about that. Everything, right? I mean, chairs, cupboards, couches,
outside furniture over there. So much. I mean, there's a lot to do. I can't believe in a month
this place will probably be covered in snow. I know, which again, we have to be prepared for, right?
So we have to tarp everything, empty the bathtub, drain the water lines, blow everything out, get ready for
sub-zero temperatures. I know, it's crazy. It's so weird to think of this place being in covered in snow
in the winter because we've never seen it that way. Yeah, I mean, what do they say they get here?
They can get up to four feet, something crazy like that? Yeah, like a hundred inches of snow or something.
Making our own pizza has ruined us from ordering pizza out. Let's do a quick load of laundry and then we can
get going to the beach. All right, well hurry up because we want to go. I have to say this is one of the best
parts about having this type of motorhome is having a full-size washer and dryer so that we can do
laundry and not have to go to the laundry room. Our resort has a laundry room but using it's kind
of a pain. You got to wait in line and machines never work right. So having this is a true lifesaver.
Yeah, and I think these dual units are much better than the single units. Yeah, yeah, having a separate
washer and dryer, life-changing. All right, buddy, let's let the clothes get clean while we're gone.
Let's go, man. You can always tell when he doesn't want to be left behind. He's like, I'll be in the car.
I'll be waiting for you in the car. That is a happy boy. You ready for a swim? All right, stay.
All right, let's go. Let's see if the jeep starts. The jeep actually working today?
We've been having all these problems with the EV charging on our jeep and it's been a real pain.
If you're interested in getting a Grand Cherokee to flat-toe it, our recommendation would be to not
get the 4xE. That is right. The 4xE is great in concept, but not so great in reality. Not fully
tested. One of the parts that we've really enjoyed about staying at our own RV lot over the past
summer has just been that we've gotten really familiar with the area and we've just found things
to do that have been really fun. So on a nice day like this, it's a Saturday, we can be outside
enjoying it instead of having to worry about traveling or going somewhere new in the RV.
We still love to travel, we love to drive, but we were kind of getting a little bit worn out from it.
So I feel like buying our own RV lot here in Michigan has been a really good change of pace
for us. Yeah, it's been extremely relaxing, right? Yeah. It's just been a great way to spend the summer.
Okay buddy, you gotta wait to get your leash on. Are you excited?
He's gonna pull so hard. Look at how pretty it looks with the sparkling water down there.
That's a far swim, buddy. Good job, man. Okay, this thing is already kind of nasty.
See how far mom throws it, Axel. That wasn't a mom throw. A better one. Good job. Good job, Axel.
All right, buddy, now you gotta get toweled off. Did you have a good swim? The best part. Is that fun, man?
Is that a good swim, huh? Axel, come here. You got so much sand on your face. Come here. He wants his
ball again. He just wants to go back swimming, even though he just finished swimming. Let's get all that
sand off your face. I know, it's not a game, baby. It's not a game. All right, come on. Up and up. Up and up. Up. Good boy.
Good job. Was that fun, huh? Of course it was. Come on. Did you have fun, buddy? Come on, you ready for your
bath? You're gonna have to get a bath now, huh, man? It's bath time, bugaboos. It's time for a bath.
Your favorite part. He usually does pretty good getting a bath. I guess it moves. I guess the water's
probably a little cold. He doesn't love it. Probably not any colder than the lake. Yeah, but the lake is more fun.
The bath is no fun. It's true. We don't like getting clean, do we, buddy? He just stands there like he's
traumatized. Like, I just got dry. Why do I have to do this again? Get all that dirty water off. You're lucky to
have a dad that cares about you enough to give you a bath. So far. All done, buddy. Good job. There we go.
Any minute the zoomies are gonna start, huh? Any minute the zoomies. There we go. Now they're starting.
You just have to go ahead to get a clean bath. All right, I'll tell you all in just a second. You gotta
shake a couple more times. Can you shake? Okay, good job, buddy. There we go. After a very traumatizing
day of having to get a bath, after going swimming, Axel fell asleep on top of the hot tub. This is
probably the warmest spot on our RV lot because it's in the sun and he can just sit here and bath
and get some warmth, huh, buddy? Is that so good? Are you such a good boy today? Yes, you get some sleep, little man.
Axel, you all nice and clean, man? Ready for bed? Take a little nap? Too much stress? Baby, it's wine time.
You ready to go? I'm just about ready. Just gotta put my pineapple necklace on that you got me. Looks very nice.
And get my shoes on. Look how beautiful you are. Get it on. Hang on. This will be probably my like, it's my
second out for the day but I'll probably change another two or three more times. You can always
change a lot. Today? Yeah. And I'm putting on a sweater because it's starting to get a little bit
colder out and I'm fully embracing the fall weather. Which is what we love about Michigan. That is what
we love about it. Shorts during the day, sweatshirts at night. That's true. It's the perfect kind of weather.
That's right. Axel, I'm sure, is just gonna nap the whole time. He's kind of traumatized after his bath
but that's good. He's stunk. All right, time to drink. All right, I'm ready. All right. The water's getting really
squeaky. I probably should fix that. Put it on the list. The never-ending list of RV repairs. Good to have
lots of things to do. It's the perfect day to go to a winery. It is nice. I honestly feel like this summer has
started to get away from us a bit. Like when we first got here we felt like we had so much time.
We were gonna do so many things that we had on our list to do. Like go to this winery and we haven't
been yet. Yeah, I think it's gotten away from us a hundred percent because we are now at the end of the
summer. It's crazy. So much of that had to do with the fact that we had all that medical stuff to deal
with. I mean you had those couple surgeries. I had doctor's appointments. Just felt like a
never-ending saga of doctor's appointments. Is that what getting old is like? I hope not. I hope not. I
hope it's just a one summer event. A summer of surgery. Can we please commit to the winter being slightly
less drama and medical issues? Yeah, I'm following the GPS. Turning right here. Thank you. It doesn't
matter how many times I, or how many GPS systems I have and how many times I warn you about a turn,
you usually seem to miss it. That's not true. Okay, not usually. You sometimes will still miss it,
even though I give you a lot of advances. I miss it five percent to seven percent of the time.
Way more than five percent. I made, there's two I made the road. That's true. Now you just show
off for the camera. Going into the country now. Wasn't there a song like that? Going into the country, gonna eat a lot of pears.
What are you talking about? That's a song. That's not a song. You just made that up. I'm going to the country,
gonna eat a lot of pears or peaches. Gonna eat a lot of peaches. You just made that up. Now if I did,
it's a song and we're gonna trademark it. It's our next big adventure. No way that that's a song.
Going to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches. We're here. Look at all the vineyards. I think it's one
vineyard and it's a whole bunch of vines. Okay, but look at the vineyard and all the vines.
It did sound weird when I said it, honestly. I mean, I could be wrong. It is called a vineyard,
you're right. Somebody could tell. But I don't know what the rows, I guess, of vines. It's just
vines. I think they're just the vines, but there must be plants. Plants and vines. Somebody please
help correct us. Yeah, tell us how stupid we got. I know that they grow grapes and I know that grapes
get turned into wine. I know those two things. You really do know a lot, don't you? I do.
It's a little windy out here. Very windy. I love this place. It has such a pretty view.
You can see from this way. I just love that view. You get the hillside and the country and you get
the vines over there is how we call them. I think that's lavender there. They plant lavender.
Yeah, that's right. I think it is. I remember that last time.
I think they said you have to start from the top and work your way down.
So this was the Pinot Gris. It's supposed to be semi-sweet.
Do I have to let you know how it tastes? Pretty good. Yeah? Yeah. I don't know if you'll like it.
It's a little bit sweet, but... I like that I drink off camera. Is it gonna make me do all
the on-camera drinking? Mm-hmm. That's good. It's got a, not a wine taste to it. It's got a wine taste?
Of course it has a wine taste. Yeah. We are drinking wine. That's why it has like a pepper
taste. Don't you think? I taste pepper. Really? It's really good. Yeah, it's good. Officially have
a pretty good afternoon buzz going. That's right. Five glasses of wine will do that to you. It does
feel like, tasting always seemed like a small amount of wine, so you have them all and then
you realize you probably drank a lot more than like two glasses. That's how they do it to you.
I heard somebody say as we walked in, like you could go to the wine,
grape, the grape crushing room, so we could stomp around on the grapes. Yeah, that'd be fun. Yeah,
that would be fun. All right, before we go back, let's stop at that farm fresh stand
and get a couple things for dinner tonight. All right, you got it. Can you imagine my feet in
grapes? That would be disgusting. You wouldn't drink that wine. No, I would not drink your
feet crushed grapes. Pumpkins. This is how you know it's fall time. Look at these cute little
things. It's like a little pumpkin for Axel. Look at these. Oh, these are squashes. Is it squash or
squashes? What does it say? What are they? Squash. These are squash? Yeah. I had no idea. Look at the
little baby ones over here. Now these are cute. Those are dumplings. Look how cute these little
things are. Well, these have a bunch of like bumps and stuff all over. I'm not sure what those are,
but these are darn cute. They're not pumpkins. Are they actually edible or are they for decoration?
I don't know what they are. I think they're called gourds. These are really cute.
Excellent. We have a couple avocados. It's always hard trying to make sure you pick the right
ripeness of an avocado. Trust me, I know. I'm like Goldilocks. You don't want it too ripe or
too unripe. These look pretty good. Okay, now we just need tomatoes. Now we just need a couple
good looking tomatoes. These look pretty good. Nice and red. Beefsteak. I love farm fresh tomatoes.
These look good. All right, let's get these. All right, we got a couple goodies to make for dinner.
We always try to go to local farmer's markets when we can instead of going to big grocery stores.
Axel! Come here, buddy. Axel, come see. We're back. Let's take some a minute. Hi, did you miss us?
Did you miss us? Hey, man. Look at how clean you are. Good boy. You're such a good dog, huh? Come on, let's
go get your treat. Ready for a treat? Come on, let's go get a treat. Let's go. Come on. Come inside.
He always gets a treat whenever we come home because he used to eat stuff inside the RV.
Sometimes he'd get into the trash and stuff, but since we started doing positive reinforcement, it
has never happened. All right, buddy. You want a treat? You want a treat for being such a good boy
while we were gone, huh? These are your favorite, huh? These jerky treats. Good job.
Now that I'm in outfit for the day, what is this? Number three, I think? My comfy clothes.
Number three. Take some time to vacuum. We have to vacuum every single day. I don't know why,
but Chris and Axel bring in so much dirt. And when Hillary says we, she means the royal we,
which is just her. Yeah, just me. I vacuum every day. Chris does other chores, so he empties the
tanks every day, which I think is a fair trade. I don't mind vacuuming when I don't have to deal
with the ---- tanks. That's very nice of you. Seriously, look at this. This is just from the
past two times that I vacuumed. Look at how disgusting that is. It's full to the brim.
You and Axel. I don't know how you do it. Baby, the black tanks are full every day, too.
That is not because of me. I want that on record. Speaking of chores, Chris is about to do a dirty
chore. Well, it could be dirty. We don't know yet. So we've been having this problem where,
for some reason, the water in this toilet keeps draining out. So when we go to use it,
there's no water in the toilet? Yep. So it's got to be some kind of a seal. If it was just,
not to be gross, toilet paper or something like that, it would flush out eventually. So
it stops for a week, once in a while, and then it comes back. So it's got to be some kind of
seal. It's just not sealing. But I'm not that familiar with these toilets, so I'm going to
pull it off and see what we can break. And I'm going to plug my nose. Is it going to smell?
No. No. Emptied all the water out of it. Okay. So unless there is really something backed up in
there, which I don't think would be the case because we flushed it so many times, it should
be clean. Okay. You're hoping it's not. I'm not hoping it's not, but I'm glad I'm not doing this.
I do think it's just two screws that kind of hold the toilet on.
Let me just slide it out.
Easy. Some of the things, I don't know if I want to see what's behind there.
No, it's nice. It's fun. You can look. I mean, it's just plumbing, right? So you've got a couple
hoses, a water hose, and you've got the main toilet tank right here. So it's not that big of
a deal. It's just hard to get to. Axel, are you helping dad? Are you helping your dad, buddy?
Are you? Are you helping and giving him kisses? Oh, gross. Oh, God. What is it? I'm just kidding.
You scared me for a minute. Axel, I thought there was something bad in there. Okay,
but let's see. So this is the back of the toilet. Yeah. And that's the hole. That's the hole that
goes into the sewer. So there's no kink lines or anything like you thought? I was thinking it was
a bad seal. Oh, okay. Not a kink line, but there's definitely no kink lines and I don't see any bad
seals. But then why is it leaking out? Or why is the water? It's got a couple of one-way valves,
which might be bad. But you can't, you don't know why? I have to look it up a little bit and see
what these valves are for and see if any of them make sense. Dr. Google it is? Not Dr. Google,
science? Yeah, Dr. Google. Dr. Google. I was thinking scientist Google.
Dinner time, making some guacamole, my world's famous guacamole. World famous? World famous.
And fish tacos. I love fish tacos. Got these really good looking avocados from the farm
market store. Those look perfect, actually. The right amount of squishiness,
there's no brownness to them. Perfect. It's better when you buy them. You never
seem to pick out the right avocado. I can't figure out ripeness on fruit or vegetable. It's
all in the feeling. You just gotta have feeling from experience. Guacamole of vegetable or fruit?
No, wait. Avocado of fruit or vegetable? Avocado. It's gotta be a fruit because it's got a seed in
the middle, right? Yeah, it's like a tomato. Yeah, it doesn't seem like it, but the only
bad thing about these is that these are tiny avocados. Well, it's a good thing you got two.
That's right. So my secret to guacamole, actually I have two secrets, but one of the biggest things
is the tomato to avocado ratio. You always want to put a lot of tomato in. I swear it makes it a
lot better than when it's just got avocado. Some restaurants just do like avocado and onion and
cilantro, but I think you need all of it and I think you want a lot of tomato. Makes it really,
really good. That tomato is a bright red tomato, which is perfect for guacamole. Mix it together.
That's gonna be good. I don't know why, but I think when it has lots of chunks of tomatoes
like this, it's much better. It looks good. Next up is a little bit of sweet onion. A lot of people
like to use red onions in guacamole, but they give Chris and I heartburn, so we usually just
use a sweet onion, which avoids any potential heartburn. The sweeter the better. I think it
tastes better, honestly. If you want to get a little bit of sweetness from the tomato too,
it's pretty good. Yeah, you don't like Maui sweet onion chips. Okay, that's just because it makes
your breath smell so bad. You don't think sweet onions make your breath smell bad? No, when it's
disguised in avocado. No, it's not true. No? Just that we both eat it at the same time,
so we can't smell each other's breath. That's not what it is. Yeah, that's true. I don't know,
I think the Maui sweet onion chips are just too much. Have you ever had Walla Walla sweet onions?
No. Guess where they come from? Where? Walla Walla. All right, so I don't add too much onion,
just a little bit to give it a little bit of taste. Of course Axel's on the ground waiting
for me to drop something. I'm not dropping anything, man. You can't have onion. Okay,
and last up is fresh cilantro. Cilantro is one of those key ingredients I don't think you can miss.
You really need the cilantro in it. You still haven't said your second secret yet. I'm getting
there. It's not time for it yet. Oh. Just wait. You gotta be patient. Okay, fresh cilantro right
on top. I swear that makes it so good. All right, then next we gotta get to the seasoning part,
because I don't think guacamole is good without proper seasoning. It doesn't take much, but I'm
gonna show you what I like to put in it. So first, just a little bit of salt. You don't need much,
because there's already salt from the chips, but a little bit. I like to put Tony's in it,
just to give it a little bit more of a Cajun flavor. It gives a little bit of heat. Just a
little bit of Tony's right on top, and then for my secret ingredient is garlic powder. I don't
know why, but you put just a little bit of garlic powder in guacamole, and I'm telling you, it
transforms your guacamole. You don't need a lot. Why not fresh garlic? You can use fresh garlic,
but in my opinion, it's a little bit too strong. So I like garlic powder just to add a tiny bit
of a taste without making it overpowering. So this, I think, makes it perfect. All right,
but you be the judge. You can have the first bite. I've had it before. I know what it tastes like.
Try the first bite and tell me if I need more of something. I'm gonna say more garlic. Is it good?
Let me taste it. The mayo is really good. Yeah, because we got fresh ones.
Perfect every single time. Yeah, I like it.
The perfect night to sit outside and have dinner. Very nice out here. Is it good? A little chilly.
It's really good. I love the secret ingredients. We always get disappointed anytime we order
guacamole at a restaurant because it's never as good as mine. That is true. Most foods aren't,
though. Could use more garlic. Hey. All right, I'm gonna make some fish tacos tonight. One of
the things I really love about this huge kitchen is that we don't have to cook in the RV every
night. We get this big space to cook in. I can make a mess. Things drop on the floor. It doesn't
matter. It's awesome. But this is one of my favorite things. We have a two burner gas cooktop,
and then we also have this. What is it? Like a griddle? Griddle. Yeah, I guess. But it works
amazing for heating up the tortillas, which I think makes a really big difference when making
tacos. So a little bit of olive oil. The fish I like to use, we get these fillets from Costco.
Mahi Mahi. They work really well, and they're pretty inexpensive. Since we don't have a Costco
nearby, I buy them frozen, and they last forever. Season them a little bit. Smells good already.
You're not sharing all your seasoning? Pretty simple. You can season them with whatever you
want. And I just cook it about four minutes a side, and then it's done. This next part for
the tortilla is butter, because butter makes everything better, as Chris always says.
Butter makes life better. Time to flip the fish. Get a nice brown sear going on that side.
Alexa, set a timer for three minutes. So now that we've got the griddle
going, we take the tortillas. We're gonna put them in the butter. And if you've been eating
cold tortillas all your life, or heating them up in the microwave, this will change your life. Or
at least it'll change the way you make tacos. When Hilary started doing this, it made everything come
to life when it comes to tacos. I don't know what it is about heating the tortillas, but it made so
much difference. It really does make a big difference. I don't know why. You just want to
get them a little bit warmed up on each side. You'll see them start to bubble here. They don't
take long when it's on high like this. I still think it's just the butter. Could be the butter,
but I think it's also the way it heats them. Yeah, it makes them kind of gooey inside. Yeah,
it makes them like warm and crispy-ish, but still really, yeah, I guess gooey on the inside. I don't
know. A better way to say it. I think the butter gives it a little extra flavor. Yeah. I used to
never think that I could make as good of tacos as a restaurant could, and then I started doing this.
She can. That was the trick. That's what I said. Totally the trick. Your tacos were always good,
and that put them over the edge. It did. It really, really did. So what did that take? I think it was
my idea. That's not your idea. It might have been. I didn't know how to do it, but I think it was my
idea. So that only takes, what, like a minute to do total? And you got fancy tortillas, and we just
wait for the fish. I love the sound. And of course, butter. A little bit more butter on the fish
makes it really good. And that's not margarine. That's full-on Amish butter. That is full-on,
pure Amish butter with like three ingredients. Put that together, put that steam in there for
about another minute, and then we can put the tacos together. Now we prep the tacos. I like
to always put just a little bit of sour cream on them. No butter? I've already got lots of butter
in and on them. This is probably why I need to go on a diet. I was skinnier before we started dating,
or got married. I don't imagine that sour cream and butter are that far off in terms of calories.
You don't think? No. And Chris won't let me buy the light stuff either. He always makes me buy the
whole 100% sour cream. I don't believe in that light stuff. Does it make you skinnier? No, they
just add more sugar. Really? Yeah. It does taste better. They have to make up for the flavor in
some way of the fat they took out, so they just add more sugar. All right, sprinkle a little bit of
onion. You don't like onions? I could do without the onions. I like them, but you like them more.
And that fresh tomato again. Those tomatoes are so red. Those were really good. And then only avocado
for me, because Chris isn't a big fan of just avocado. I don't understand why you just ate a
bunch of guacamole. Yeah, but you don't taste the avocado. The avocado is just a delivery mechanism
for the tomatoes and garlic. Axel's watching. I'm sure he's always watching. And then of course,
you got to garnish with a little bit of fresh cilantro. Don't skimp on that step. Those look
pretty good, if you ask me. And the best part is that we don't have any fish smell in the RV now.
All right, you ready to eat? I'm ready to eat. I'm staring. Look at Axel. Axel's like, give me some
of that. I'm drooling. I don't know who's drooling more. Hopefully they came out good. You know they
did. They always do. They are always really good. I love fish tacos. They're perfect. Yeah? Tortillas.
Are they Axel approved, buddy? He'll never know. You're not gonna give him a bite. No way. You know,
we have a whole table over there and a bar that we could sit at, and yet we end up eating in front
of the TV. We gotta watch Jersey Shore. We're not gonna watch Jersey Shore. See if the LSU game is on.
Babe, you gotta watch a little bit of football for me. I watched it this morning.
Fairly. You watched a little bit of game day. That doesn't count as a game. I know where they're at.
Axel, it's a perfect night, buddy. Good weather, good food. The only thing missing is a margarita.
Like I said, enough wine at the winery. You want to do a cheers? Taco toast. A taco toast.
Cheers. To a good day. Great day. A great day as husband and wife. That's right. Thankfully, Chris is
always willing to do the dishes as long as I cook. We make a good team. Kind of the perfect
relationship. I cook and you clean. That's right. Because I hate doing the dishes. Although you do
have the best dishwasher standing right behind you, huh buddy? You would clean anything. Thank
you for doing the dishes, honey. Thank you for making dinner, honey. Pretty nice that you can
cook out here and clean, and it doesn't matter how big of a mess I make. No, it's not. In the RV,
it makes such a mess. It doesn't stink. We got so much space. It really is. This kitchen is my dream
come true. You like it too, don't you? Yeah, and the best part is, like you said, it's October,
and we're out here a little bit chilly now, but it was a gorgeous day, but now it's going to cool
off at night and we can sit by the fire. Yeah, and we got the heaters on. We do. We turned the
heater on, so it's getting a little bit chilly, but this is my favorite kind of weather, when it's
warm during the day and cool in the mornings and at night. Yeah. I love that. You two look pretty
cozy back there. It's pretty nice over here in the heat. You like the fire, Axel? He loves it.
That fire feels nice. Nice and warm. Look at poor Axel. He's so tired.
Buddy. Axel. Yeah, it's really hard to make the fire. Chopped a lot of wood.
