I had a request from those taking my classes to breakdown my skin care routine, so here it is in a tutorial! Please note that I am not a Korean beauty expert, these are just my personal opinions. I have listed all the products that I use and links to purchase (mentioned in the video) below. I am not sponsored by any of the products in this video. P.S. Ordinary products are NOT Korean.
hi everybody I had a request to go
through my routine my skincare and so
that's what I'm doing I'm gonna try to
make it as quick as possible and I am
going to tell you why I do it and all
the steps that are involved and why you
wouldn't want to even do this the
routines that I use are Korean beauty
it's a quite expensive process but I can
tell you that if you find what works for
you and you do it right you will see
results which is kind of nice so first
off what is Korean beauty so from the
research that I've done is a wave
basically of Korean culture and being
very focused on the skin and talking
about not not taking on makeup but
rather bringing out the inner beauty of
your skin so that when you do actually
have to wear makeup it doesn't have to
be
laterz it can be really light and the
health of your skin can be what is at
the forefront rather than trying to
cover everything up so that's basically
the the reason behind cream beauty so
what I'm going to do is I'm gonna help
because I'm not just with Korean beauty
but just a skincare in general there's a
lot of confusion and so I've actually
done a lot of research and the reason
why I did was you know number one after
40 after 35 for that matter things start
to change significantly
I started noticing my skin was a really
dull eye I was lacking like a brightness
do we look which is something that I was
really attracted to when I would see
these images of Korean beauty products
and what they were advertising so not to
mention that that also you know like oh
my gosh there's so much out there how am
I supposed to even decide what I'm
supposed to use cuz it's like there's
the plethora of choices and how do I
know what works best for me now I do
want to disclose give you a disclaimer
that I'm not an expert by any means I am
just gonna tell you what I personally do
and if you have questions I can
certainly try and provide answers I can
also because of the extensive research
that I've done I can give you some other
maybe videos on things that I've learned
over the years what to do and I can give
you some examples of those at the end of
this little video so yeah so the reason
why I do this is primarily because after
baby number three I found my skin to be
very very lacking and I was actually
breaking out in a kind of a rash that
was hormonal II induced after having her
age 40 it just threw everything out of
whack so I had to get hormone
replacement therapy of course but in
addition to that I had to find some kind
of way of creating my skin and this this
is a result of that and I can I can tell
you that I look better now than I did
prior to beginning this routine and
earlier in my years so what I look like
now is better than what
I was younger so I can't speak for my
20s of course but yes definitely better
than through my 30s for sure
so what are we gonna cover take several
steps please please know that these are
just my opinions I'm not telling you
what to do you can make any decision
that you want for yourself you can
there's so much information out there to
glean and I know that there's a lot to
filter through and that's kind of why I
chose to help you guys out hopefully
this is helpful to you and deciding what
you're going to do but I can tell you
that sorry I'm reading my notes here my
number one rule for this whole project
on your skin is consistency so a lot of
people want that quick fix that you want
to just BAM and done because it doesn't
right if you have an issue or a problem
that you're fighting or you really don't
want to put in the time nobody to this I
mean it's the same with exercise right
you have to put the time in and you have
to be consistent in order to see results
it's the same thing that applies to
pretty much everything in life this is
not an exception absolutely not
unfortunately I wish that I could just
wash my face with soap wake up in the
morning and look fabulous right we all
do but it takes a little bit of work
especially as we get older to make sure
that our skin actually maintains and
actually gets better like I believe me
I've done a ton of research and I'm
hoping that what I'm doing is actually
working and maybe that's why you guys
were asking for a little a few little
tips so we're going to also go through
steps I I have seven written down
there's quite a few the traditional ten
step Korean
[Music]
I know your guys are probably like run
for the hills but it's extensive and I
view this actually as my me time every
night I take time and take care of
myself I let I watch things I read
things while I'm doing this so it's not
just I'm not just you know wasting time
I'm actually learning things I'm
watching things I'm getting entertained
yeah so first step in the process is
understanding the general rule of thumb
besides consistency when you are dealing
with products great thought process to
have is application of course this is
after cleansing but it's the most watery
product to the heaviest product that's
the application process whether you're
doing your morning routine or your
evening routine so just keep that in
mind but number one in the steps of
course is cleansing everyone knows that
right we have to cleanse however many of
us if you don't know k-beauty they are
adamant about cleansing very very
adamant now I'm going to show some
products that I personally use that I've
because I've just tried a ton of stuff
and some things I've really liked and
other things I haven't but one thing
that I really really highly recommend if
you don't do anything else really a
different steps that I have today or the
different products that I show you is
you have to cleanse your skin now the
key is to cleanse your skin with
oil-based products so to begin because
what you're putting on your skin in
terms of makeup concealer foundation
even powders they have wheels in them
and you it also mixes with the oil in
your skin your sebum production
and from your pores so you have you ever
tried to mix oil and water it just
doesn't work or have you tried to clean
a product off like even just cleaning
your house and if it's oily you can't
you can scrub scrub scrub but it's gonna
be mean slick right so that's what
products like this are for so zero is
this amazing it smells fantastic but it
is this almost a goop or oil if you will
it is basically oil-based and I just
essentially to remove makeup and it is
the first step in the process now I'm
not going to go through and show you
every little step along the way I'm
gonna cut and paste this video so that
you don't have to sit and watch me do
everything but I want to show you guys
and this is being brave of me because I
don't show my bare face to anyone but my
family typically I do have issues that I
like you may think I have perfect skin
but I am to an extent I have a great
palette to work with of course I have
good genetics I've got half asian blood
in me so that helps but I have issues
everybody to that is I you know I'm I
was a Sun worshipper growing up I had no
idea that I should have been wearing
sunscreen so I have dark spots that I
have been dealing with for quite some
time
and I also have my skin gets really
pigmented when I have any flare-up or
acne that comes with that time of the
month which right now I have some
flare-ups so anyhow I'm being brave and
I'm showing you my bare face so here we
go I would ride this all over rub into
my mascara area very gently of course I
love this stuff because
takes it off I wasn't wearing very much
but if you have any kind of makeup that
is oil-based as you can see it removes
it so that I would just get in there and
you're like oh my gosh she's spreading
the dirt don't worry it's okay I'm gonna
get it off I'm gonna go grab a Kleenex
wipe it all up and I'll come back in
just a second okay so very gently wiping
away some of the dirt from your makeup
you know I wasn't wearing a ton today
but you can see is dirt right let's make
up it's not meant to stay on your skin
overnight it's not going to help you in
any way shape or form so getting rid of
it now now that you have this oil-based
cleanser on your skin or a couple
products that I really like a foaming
cleanser same company as the one I just
used to clean at zero and pretty much
every product that I'm going to show you
today is is Korean and it's just my
preference I really like everything that
I've tried I have tried other things
like drunk elephant which are fabulous
but the price point is just insane so I
had to get realistic and some of this
stuff is expensive but I use it so
sparingly that it lasts of me a long
time and it's worth the investment so
just keep that in mind oh and I forgot I
need to put it before I wash my face
actually wash my face have to put my
cute little ears on so hang tight my
cute little kitty mask just keeps all my
hair back it's kind of nice that way
[Music]
hair getting in the way okay so
and sometimes I even I'm going to mix
two this is the other one that I really
like just to get that deep clean so see
those two let me quickly show you how
fun it is
quickly right it's not filming too much
it goes so much of the oil based on
be right back okay I did a second time
through because it was too much oil but
I just want you to see lots of bubbles
gentle work oh yeah good get the idea
okay
now when I dry my face I never rub cuz
why do we need to help gravity right if
you pull your face down it's not gonna
help you alright so patting drum always
a good thing some people you know will
let their face air dry if you're really
that concerned about it you can do that
alright so next in the process I'm not
going to do it tonight because I did it
last night but I would choose to either
forgo or I try and do every other night
esteem
doesn't always happen believe me there's
nights where I'm tired exhausted and I
don't want to seem or take extra and
extra steps I would like to go to sleep
now so but just to give you an idea of
what I do it these are powders and I mix
them with water and then place it on my
face steam my face this particular
Dermalogica is to help get rid of those
environmental toxins that kind of land
on your skin and then this has a
brightening effect so I just combine the
two and leave it on my face while I'm
steaming my face so if you are
interested in wanting to know what that
steamer looks like let me know it's just
it cups right against your face you've
probably seen them
I bought it on Amazon Amazon great
alright so that is not something that is
necessary I just personally like it
because the next step is exfoliating and
sometimes if you don't open up your
pores then you can't really get in and
dig and get the dirt and impurities out
as well so that's why I do that step
first and then exfoliator so there's a
little bit of a confusion on exfoliation
a lot of thing a lot of people think
that oh in less I really scrub I'm not
I'm not really going to release that
layer which that's why we do exfoliation
is because if you have dead skin on your
skin like a layer of dead skin you're
going to look dull and sallow and like
washed out what you're not going to
actually look bright and fresh and dewy
and all the things that we want to look
at young right so that's why you would
want to do exfoliation is to get rid of
that right there's two different ways to
do so
one is a chemical which is something
like this a jbh a so these are hydroxy
acids and it's a very gentle way of
actually removing that dead layer of
skin so I would highly recommend for me
anyway me personally not doing this
everyday it is it's a little bit drying
you can dry you out I this is one of the
most gentle products you can get though
be warned as though it takes forever to
come because it's on a slow boat from
Korea literally so but it's a great
product and I do use sparingly I've had
this for probably two months or so and I
use it every other day yeah so and it's
called cape que la Lu yeah because it
has kale spinach parsley all kinds of
good stuff in it so yeah really great
prod
and this is chemical so big no-no that I
learned the hard way is don't combine
physical and chemical exploring just
because it burns like it does not feel
good you don't want to combine those two
and besides it's actually can be super
damaging to your skin so physical
exfoliation would be like a scrub or a
some kind of rough exfoliator that is
physically able to get in in there and
we release the dead skin cells so just
so you know like the difference between
the two I mean it's a pretty
self-explanatory but do not combine them
on the same day if you're gonna do
anything and you really want to work on
kind of brightening your skin and
getting rid of the dull dead layer it's
every other day so you would do a
physical exfoliant one day and the next
day you would do a chemical exfoliant
and so on and so forth so just so you
keep that in mind I am going to do that
now and I'll clean cotton pad don't need
very much but you know rubbing always
upward upward upward to fight that
gravity right as much as you can fight
it and in the best ways possible there
are some things that we cannot do
outside of medically being treated you
know if you've got a really big melasma
which is like a dark spot on your face
there's only so much you know little
chemical exfoliants do for you and I
just want to show you if you can see
okay even though I wash my face there's
still dirt you just goes to show you how
you cannot
I mean at some point you gotta stop
but sometimes the hands aren't enough
alright so and I really think the neck
is crazy
if your neck looks like a six year old
and you're 40 that's a not a good combo
right so pay attention to your necks the
other things - your hands I always put
my extra product on my hands and I'm
telling you it's made all the difference
because again somebody's gonna come up
to your face might look amazing
but then your hands look like you are 70
that's not good either right
who doesn't nobody wants that so that's
off my neck gross
sorry it's also kind of cleansing
now I there's another step in the
process I use a device to kind of help
lift the skin and stuff so we can talk
about that at the end I won't I don't
like I said I don't want to make this
too long of a process but so that was
step 1 wash and cleanse which is two
steps really oil and foaming and then
step two exfoliation whether it's
stinging your skin and then exfoliating
or not and then chemical versus physical
so yes now because I found dirt on my
skin you don't have to do this
but I am going to do a little extra and
cleanse one more time because that's
just gross I don't like that normally I
do a better job of cleansing and
apologies for so that was this is
Benton's tea tree water and believe it
or not it's not very harsh at all it's
actually quite nice so I'm just one
extra little cleanse and I will be
satisfied when my little pad
much better right it's my neck I think
that gets all the dirt so I try and pick
it a little bit more attention it's
really hard to wash her neck I don't
know about you but I just find it
irritating because all the water drips
down into my shirt okay
and don't forget okay so that is done
Wow next step of the process
toner okay now there's a lot of
confusion out there everybody's like
okay toner yes uh-huh originally the
original intent of toner was to actually
provide that second step to cleansing so
you wash your face oh my gosh there's
still crap all over my face you use
toner and then you put it on a pad and
you see what I just saw now I personally
like to use the K Beauty reason for
toner now think of cleanser as your wash
cycle of course and toner as your rinse
cycle that's the traditional way of
looking at toners but in k-beauty toners
focus more on locking in the moisture
after cleansing and prepping the skin
with extra hydration so you promote that
glow okay so that's the reason behind
KBT toners so I am going to go ahead and
I don't like to waste anything so a lot
of times they say that you can put it on
a tad like a cotton pad but I just want
it all to go on my skin so I just avoid
this unless I'm cleansing so that makes
any sense yeah so toner all over gently
now I like to combine products that I
have come to love because
in my opinion yes less is more sometimes
but if you want to get all the benefits
of different products do what you gotta
do if you can afford it why not right
anyway just one more thought on any of
these products that I'm noticing
everything soon Korean usually the
packaging that it comes in has English
directions but in case you don't like I
don't know what they're saying of course
then you would go to where you bought it
and they typically have directions like
even on Amazon alright so now we have
essence okay so maybe you guys know what
that is maybe don't but there's a lot
another confusing product right oh I got
some fun stuff happening on my skin
today alright so you've got essence now
the difference between essence and toner
is these are light weight boosters that
target any concerns that you have on
your skin so for instance oh and by the
way toners were created so that it could
balance the pH of your skin after
washing your skin because now your your
pH balance is altered since you just
took all that stuff off right so this is
to help balance back the toner and the
essence balance that pH back to normal
back to neutral so I love love love this
company AK well it's almost always sold
out I purchase products on a couple key
Beauty sites so cochlea s okay Oh dr.
Glenn I'm sorry no dot glam calm and
dirt Wesson another one that I have
recently purchased as you can see
there's not a whole lot used at the top
it's like it's like moisture in a bottle
that just sucks to your skin it's
fantastic
Heil Iran if you guys don't know what
that is I'm sure you do isn't everything
these days
but it's something that your body
produces already and so it's your body
recognizes it and depending on the
intensity of the hilar on its gonna give
you crazy hydration like your your skin
is just going to absorb it so yeah and
then then you have something like this
and I have more toners - I just really
like essences because they're so cool
you have a micro essence which has
probiotics in it oh thanks for your face
yup why not right it's good for your
belly why wouldn't it be good for your
face so tons and tons of options
obviously you can see I love this one I
use it every night so yeah and any
combination that works for you and this
particular one has a 5 in 1 tons and
tons of things that it does for your
moisturizing skin glowing skin boosting
skin balancing skins off meeting lots of
s's yeah and it doesn't have all the
crap in it I think that's why I really
like this one is very pure it is a
Korean product but it is in English as
well which is nice so I'm gonna just
grab a little bit of this Pat it on my
face and then I also brought out the
mist because you have now essences are
less concentrated than serums which is
the next step but it works at a cellular
level to promote that turnover you know
smoother brighter appearance so that's
why we use them and just keep in mind
any formulas with salicylic acid or
witch hazel are really good for
targeting like acne prone skin and
oiliness
I just just feels amazing
okay and there are ones that prevent or
protect against free radicals and that's
what this one is that's what it's there
for it's like a fermentation process
enzymes probiotics just to help kind of
seal the deal and help you fight against
environmental toxins you definitely want
to avoid any toners or essences that
have alcohol or harsh ingredients you
can tell you can read the ingredients
you know like see this one doesn't have
what it has inside most of them don't
have a lot of actual bottles but on the
packaging but you can when you buy them
you can see what's in the ingredient
list and most times if it's gonna be bad
for your skin it'll have alcohol or
propylene glycol or different things
like that they you know there's a ton of
those like multi-syllable if that makes
sense
okay so we're moving right along now if
you were wondering well everybody uses
these masks right I do it's a fabulous
way to relax tea would actually set your
skin to get more moisture out into your
skin I don't think there can never be
enough moisture to personally and so
that's why you would do a mask a lot of
Korean women or people who use k-beauty
products will use a mouse daily nightly
sometimes even in the morning especially
if they're getting ready for a big event
because you want your skin to look pump
and radiant right for whatever you got
going on so the step that you would want
to use this mascot is now you would want
to put it on after your toner in essence
just to lock it in just a little bit
more give you a little tiny bit more and
it's
a bit heavier like remember that rule of
thumb at the beginning most watery to
heaviest at the end so that's what this
would be for I'm not going to do it
right now but just so you know if you
want to insert a mask here's the place
to do it next we have serums ok so I'm
going to show you some of my favorites
and there's times and if you can think
of serums as as a guy general guide a B
and C right this one is a vitamin C
serum again similar to that micro
essence I just showed you with the
probiotics same idea right but it's your
own form then you have another vitamin C
I love this company - great price point
good products like and nothing crappy
inside of them which is fantastic
because you don't want to put crap on
your skin right so when I do my layering
I'm just going to go one at a time
personally from my research if I ever
see first and I do a different routine
in the morning than I do at night if you
guys are interested in the morning
routine it's not as extensive thankfully
as my evening one then yeah let me know
so I combined those two and again
padding in not running and then I go and
you probably noticed that I had this
beautiful bottle it's called Medi cube
is the name it's another creative
company I love they have a triple
collagen serum alright then I combined
that collagen serum with a vitamin A I
have written all everybody knows
those two I try and give a little bit of
time in between so that your skin can
actually absorb even down into that why
not
and then finally vitamin B so all of
these have different purposes vitamin C
helps brighten again fight that dull
skin and also helps with getting rid of
dark spots by man a turnover cellular
turnover you know getting rid of those
fine lines and wrinkles or not
necessarily getting rid of more like
preventing from you know after 40 right
then you got a vitamin B same idea this
one is really nice because it's combined
with zinc I really like it and this one
I primarily use to help fight duck spots
okay now so serums are more concentrated
of course and thicker as you could see I
don't know if you guys could see that
but I'm going to show you a couple more
in my hands so that you can see I am not
done yet no I forgot it's the grand
consistency than that toner or acid the
same idea right we're going down the
line
now what about ampules I was confused
just like you and if you're like what
the hell is an ampule so if you can see
that this one I really like again
medicube great company and I really like
because it helps with redness like the
red spots that you get the irritation
ampules are something that you would use
for a finite amount of time because
they're super concentrated so
if you're having a really bad skin week
then you would grab you know like PMSing
or on your period this is the time that
you would use it no I want you to see
the thickness of it all right slides
down with some skin heat right and then
the other one that I combined it with is
a collagen actual I love this one it's
made that has mushrooms in it which are
really good for you and it's called time
stop so why wouldn't you use it right
now it's one of the highest like this
one's almost always sold out two is
highly recommended and you know on sites
you always have those stars this one has
the highest stars because it's really
good I really like this one
alright so vast of the serums and AM
tools and like I said this is me you
don't have to do all of this you're like
holy hell Amy this is way too much this
is what I do
I want to take care of myself and this
is what I found works for me so you guys
can do with it what you will okay final
step in the process okay so another
major product every like I said I really
like them this is a moisturizer final
step in the process actually second to
last step in the process believe it or
not and I really like this because look
at that look at how thick that is
super moisturizing sometimes I'll
combine it with a you know another
moisturizer because I like some of the
features of the other moisturizer and
this one come
you know I I've tried other ones like
this one is a Korean product so is Mikey
of course but this one is like
apparently the Queen's of Korea used it
so selling point right and some old
traditional recipe or whatever so really
thick as you can see and it just it's
like silk on your skin
and this might not work for you I
personally like feeling you know if you
don't like feeling a layer on your skin
you gotta find something that's light
and tries to really it goes and sucks
into your skin and doesn't leave a layer
almost if you will
yeah so a lot of you might be wondering
was she gonna do anything for her eyes
at this point actually I don't
I tried excuse me I've tried some
particular eye gels and everything that
I'm using actually I've not only seen my
eyes so I find that they're the benefits
from all of these products are enough to
help if I really have a puffy sad-eyed a
then I would go with let me see here I
would go with Ordinaries caffeine
solution for under the eyes to just help
with the bags and kind of smooth the
area out and then I love it
Jade bowler and besides this just feels
amazing cuz it's cold and wonderful and
smooth and just makes your skin feel
great it's great for lymphatic drainage
as well so that's why you would use and
then final final step
now here's my think this is crazy but
oil maybe some of you have seen people
put oil on their skin but believe it or
not if you don't moisturize properly if
you don't have you know things that are
protecting your skin at being absorbed
into your skin then you're actually
going to have your skin working overtime
which can produce problem skin acne you
know dull not bright of course and so
this is just a final layer totally
optional I make it a part of my
particular routine because I I love my
skin and the way it feels after okay but
if it's to have you for you and using it
a lot of people have a misconception all
if I put oil on my skin I'm actually
going to break out I mean it's going to
be worse it's the opposite and you need
tons of moisture especially if you were
someone with dry or normal skin if you
have if you have oily skin then you
might need to avoid this particular step
I have normal combo skin like dry to
normal so that this is tamaño oil I love
this stuff this fixes pretty much
everything if you have dry hands if you
have cuts or eczema or anything like
that
the product is fabulous yeah so I
combined that with my sometimes my oil
from drunk elephant now I've had this
forever
it cost me an arm and a leg but it's
amazing that I combine with that and
squalene squalane just seals the deal so
if you don't do this heavier oil of
tomorrow and you just want to do like
just let it all get absorbed into my
face this this bad boy right here if you
don't do anything else and you're like
well I kind of but I don't want it to be
like super heavy squirming it really
does absorb into your skin but it is an
oil it's an oil based yeah ellipsis labs
so I'm for the sake of time I'm just
combining all of them together a little
tiny rub and again why not know there's
tons of other things that I've learned
over time but I'm not this is a long
enough video for you guys so yeah that's
the 10 step process now please remember
figuring out you know what your skin
needs is it's like fusing and very tough
battle and it's expensive you know
sometimes you find something that you
think is going to work for you and then
like it does the complete opposite my
combinations and the different things
that you discover it's not so good what
you said it was going to do is not doing
I'm just sharing what I've found works
for me you know if you have normal to
like dry to normal skin this might be a
good routine for you and if you have
questions I do have other products that
I use too and sometimes I rotate them
you can let me know I'll let you know
anything any questions that you have
also let me know if you're interested in
you on morning routine and if you want
my favorite products more so than I did
just here and I also use tools like I
have facial tools that I use on a
regular basis to assist in why not right
and then I do want to highlight of
course I'm in the fitness industry but
if you don't hydrate and if you eat a
crap ton of sugar and you don't have the
best diet your skin is going to show it
so no matter what you do on the outside
if the inside isn't right you're not
gonna get the results on the outside so
if you have gluten intolerance it's
gonna show up in your skin I think
that's why I've got a little bit of this
going on because I've been home and
there's the rest of my family eats
gluten and I sneak things and I
shouldn't because I don't have tolerance
for it
I'm not celiac but you know it's there
you eat it right and then yeah if you
have any other questions I am going to
put together either in the description
so that you can click on the links to
the products that I featured today and
you can order them on Amazon or SoCo
glam or medicube you can buy their
products directly from their website but
anything here you see you can get on
Amazon which is kind of nice some of it
takes forever to get to you but all that
being said I hope that you guys enjoyed
this video you can feel free to share in
it if you think someone would benefit
from it thank you for taking the time
yeah so have a great night and we'll see
you later
