[Music]
good morning fellow Woodworkers welcome
back to another episode on the workshop
Vlog it has been ages seriously oh my
goodness
so about 3 weeks ago and I finally um
got my ass over to my workshop once
again my daughter has been born about 3
months ago and I just wanted to spend a
lot of time with her but I already
finished one new project here with soon
on that and today I'm going to
Resa a bunch of logs um apple wood that
my grandpa in-law gave me because one of
his apple trees was kind of rotten
inside um and we also had those pesky
little B CER do you see that those are
holes of bugs and they ate through the
wood and it just fell down um it was a
pretty old one probably 50 years or
something it wasn't too big but was
pretty tall um and he gave me the best
parts which was still kind of fine and
the cool thing about those is um that I
don't want to do too much with those I
just want to Resort those into boards
and some cookies and just blame them a
bit um let them go through my drum
sender and just turn those into very
very easy cutting boards for the
upcoming art markets like the um Advent
Market that I'm going to take part my
hometown and so on and so forth so yeah
that's that's basically the whole
Workshop Vlog I'm going to resore a
bunch of locks and we're going to take a
look inside of those and and I'm going
to be a lazy as today know hot glue what
I'm going to do is I'm just going to
screw um those locks in because the
outermost part of the lock you can't use
anyway so there's not much um meat or
wood there so yeah really doesn't matter
like like the Barky part just going to
screw those in that's going to make my
life easy and just a regular resawing
procedure um put it like here such that
I can Resa this part first we get a flat
side then put it onto the flat side with
this board running alongside the fence
and then I got a 90° angle hopefully and
then I can just start um yeah just reso
this thing this is one of the methods or
I'm going to get one side straight and
then I'm going to use this as a
reference against my fence to get myself
more boards we'll see about that I'm
going to vary it TI little bit also
cookies as mentioned before we are going
to make some of those here so pretty
excited about that and people usually
pay for for cutting board of length 30
cm maybe 1 and a half CM thick and so on
like little breakfast boards 15 to 20
bucks and they really sell out pretty
quickly because they are cheap and they
are made of pretty rare wood you could
say exotic Woods um so yeah let's go
ahead and get started let's not waste
any more time let's th this B in and
then we going to start with resawing I
got a bunch of
those I dare you do not judge me for my
tiny drill I got my other one
at home I forgot to bring drills with me
so yeah this is one that I still have
lying around as a spare in my
workshop so I admit it did not work so I
got to use hot glue after all as always
but that's not a big deal hot clue works
like a charm in a normal case so let's
just use this
SN for
ronas got the bucket
Mei got the hose and I got the hand and
I also got absolutely beautiful apple
wood like oh my Lord that is going to be
such a fine
cut and it smells great oh if you've
never worked with Applewood you're
missing out on something it seriously it
smells so great holy okay let's go
so let's take a look at the next
cut was a bit
harder
remember I got a
hand
amazing simply amazing wood what a cut
I'm thinking about running this over the
jointer such that I can get a nice
surface and even though we don't have
much wood here on this first part it's
still enough to get at least one cutting
board out that size or maybe a chak
reboard in some kind of way a longer one
and I think that's a great detail right
here this bug hole that's
amazing
[Music]
and I seriously thought that more of the
wood was rotten or something but just
some epoxy it's going to do just going
to go a long ways um to stabilize
everything and to get beautiful
beautiful Cutting Boards out just take
this off and you got a long one a real
long cutting board 20 bucks that's so
much that's so much profit and just
overall it's it's amazing that's great
work all right so the last few pieces
relatively rotten so I even found two
live bucks in here one small lava here
and one fully grown one inside of this
but I killed those so this could make
for very interesting I don't know
cutting board or maybe something else
I'm not certain looks great but here we
got a bit of Rod it feels really mushy
like some kind of shroom um sitting in
here something of the sort but nothing
that epoxy couldn't stabilize but other
than that beautiful wood here's the rod
too um but on the other side looking
fine I mean even if I fill this that is
probably going to look pretty cool um or
I'm going to make a glue up cutting
board like cutting this part out and on
the other one and then GLW it together
really doesn't matter but this part
pretty damn fine um going to use it yeah
I got two four six ones out and next up
we're going to do some cookies I suppose
there's going to be a few great ones in
there pretty excited about those now
with this next one I need to get really
creative because I have no idea how I'm
going to get a clean Edge on this one at
first or clean face such that I can
Resort nicy but you can probably see why
this is going to be an amazing piece
where we are going to get cookies out
because we got this not over here um we
got several brenes actually and this was
like the main part of the tree where
everything branched out at the top this
is like an amazing piece for wood
turning actually so it kind of breaks my
heart
to basically deconstructed into cookies
but I don't have life anyways which
could get this capacity going I just
don't have the diameter to work with
something like this so it's not a
problem I got more apple wood and also
plumwood and so on Cherrywood up there
in my attic so what's going be the plan
here is most certainly or probably what
I'm going to do is I'm going to get one
clean cut right through here this part
down here is kind of uninteresting I'm
going to turn those into cutting boards
with this length and the other ones are
going to be turned into cookies up here
and with this clean Edge I should be
able to get bunch of cookies going thing
is on end grain or this massive amount
of Endra I really can't use my jointer
it would be just way too dangerous so um
I just need to be very slowly on the Ben
saw and I think we can get it done
somehow at least I have this clean Edge
down here already which I can reference
off so yeah probably going to do this
got to get this cleaned up there's a
small part from chainsaw here which
still needs to um be cleaned off and
then we are good to go I
think that's going to be exciting to say
the
least we see how all of that works out
okay um it's a fairly short cut
so I think this right here should hit
the sport pretty nicely those are rather
long breakfast boards and here I can get
some ridiculous cookies out I think
let's
go right so that is looking
good no rot in here it's not very
softened up but that's already a fine
looking cookie just look at that and do
you see the Symmetry here do you see how
the um how the tree got kind of deformed
or corrupted you could say here this is
where the prench started where it
started branching off and you get those
weird curly stuff in here that's choan
SE basically it's amazing it's it's
wonderful It's a Wonderful feature of
Nature and I can't wait to get cookies
out so let's
go
now this last one is
I would say pretty characteristic don't
think that I can make much out of it but
I think that looks pretty cool with this
um pretty tried up wood here dead wood
um it's cool but we got a bunch out we
got two four six seven great ones out
this one's not so nice and this one I
don't know can go into the firewood but
other than that great stuff um what I'm
going to do now is instead of gluing
this piece down um I'm going to try
something that is rather forbidden not
really forbidden but not many people
like to do it I'm going to run this just
over the jointer um thing is you don't
want to run bar over the jointer because
the um the the knives can get dull I
think rather quickly don't know why but
this is what woodwork say at least um I
I think so I'm just going to do it uh
it's not much bark on here so just got
to run it over three to four passes then
I got a flat side then we can continue
with restoring everything let's
go I mean it worked the first part was a
tiny little bit sus and I was a bit
afraid because it wasn't even at all so
it just fell into the joint a bit but
everything worked out nicely so just be
careful when working with this machine
and have your hands away as far as you
can like I did up here and even if
something gets sucked into the air or
anything just take the hands away and
everything works out so yeah let's
go
this was an awesome piece of wood even
the last one it's a tiny one back side
doesn't look good I'm I'm going to see
how I'm going to turn this into
something nice but other than that they
all look pretty damn amazing like the
structure of the wood everything it's
pretty St solid still it's it's it's
just fine wood I I just really like it
apple is amazing um one concern of mine
is if I leave cutting boards like this
for example then we got this knot up
here and don't think that this would
look pretty good or maybe it's a bit too
spiky I'm not certain about that maybe
I'm going to cut this off or maybe I'm
just going to turn those into straight
cutting boards I'm not certain about
that we got two 4 six out so lot of
cutting boards end like already and I'm
going to call it quits for today last
thing I'm going to do is I'm just going
to put those in the little towers up
there my attic because it's really hot
up there so they can dry out really
quickly and yeah then I'm going to see
you tomorrow for more rewing
action
