Vance Calls Israeli Vote to Annex West Bank an ‘Insult’

President J.D. Vance criticized Israel's parliament today after a vote on West Bank annexation. Here he is speaking on the tarmac at Tel Aviv's international airport. Oh yeah, that was weird. That was weird. I was sort of confused by that. Now I actually asked somebody about it and they told me that it was a symbolic vote. Some symbolic vote to recognize or a symbolic vote to annex the West Bank. Vance met with Israeli military leaders and other officials during his visit to the country. Some 200 U.S. troops are working alongside the Israeli military and other countries for the civilization and reconstruction of Gaza. The annexation bill won preliminary approval in Israel's parliament yesterday. The legislation would apply Israeli law to the West Bank. Israel has maintained control of the region since the 1970-67 war and Palestinians see the territory as the heart of a future independent state. Here's a clip of Vance objecting to the vote, saying it's at odds with current U.S. policy towards the region. I mean look, if it was a political stunt, it was a very stupid political stunt and I personally take some insult to it. The West Bank is not going to be annexed by Israel. The policy of the Trump administration is that the West Bank will not be annexed by Israel. That will continue to be our policy and if people want to take symbolic votes, they can do that, but we certainly weren't happy about it.
