Our first skater represents Finland, Karina Innos.
And as we head into the top 18 skaters after the short program, Karina,
one of the first to successfully attempt a triple-triple in her short program.
And she will skate the free to seal pop by Panu Altio.
Oh, what a delicate movement at the conclusion of the free skate for 17-year-old Karina Innos
from Finland. And now we're really heading into a different conversation in regards to
this event as Elisa Drei, her coach, greets her off the ice. And it's just a wonderful shot,
which Karina can hopefully enjoy of her coach in the back background, just reliving or sharing
that finish position with her. Yeah, that was so beautiful. And I think it showed her ability,
her understanding of the musical moment. Now, while you're trying to jump and gain points,
you lose that sense of that moment, but you need to catch it somewhere in the program.
Nice triple lutz up into the double axel, double loop. Let's start to the program.
Here's a triple loop a little bit later on a lean, but she managed to get the free
leg back right away. That is under-rotated, both the flip and the loop. In fact, yeah.
So we have three jumps under-rotated and double axel on the quarter.
Good technique, good power, good airtime, but a little slower rotation.
There's a new slide right up into the final spin here. I really admire, though, as we see Karina
working through the side to back within her layback spin, the way in which she recovered
from the second element, a fall so early on in the program that could be so easy to derail and
showcase disaster further on. She didn't allow it to be the case. And that's a testament to
how well-trained she must be. Now watch this final movement right here. She takes the time because
those strings and cellos were moving. Yeah, it's beautiful. Really, really nice. What I appreciate
most about this program is she kept everything together, even though there might have been a
small lean and a takeoff here or there. She kept her body core really strong as she was able to
stand up on the elements. Now they'll need to be a little bit cleaner, but she's a powerful skater,
and I think she's sensitive or at least hears the music. And that's going to, as it gets connected
more, this program is only going to get stronger. Yeah, and Elisa Dry, her coach, such a wonderful
skater herself, cajoling and supporting her student as she looks to beat the 78 points
she had at the finish test gate and the 87 points she had on the Junior Grand Prix last year.
88.59, that is first in the free program for Karina. The total competition score of 132.61
as we see those numbers begin to climb, we move down the start list.
