And now to Luna Hendrix, just recently assigned to revalidation of the results from the European Championships
to another medal from the Europeans in the 2022 Games
and how she would love to, this season, become another medalist at Championship events
but this, one of the earlier hurdles in her season, she comes back to the Grand Prix.
Good opening for Luna, triple lutz, triple toe.
She looks focused.
Double toe.
Totally engaged with the second triple flip and now entering a double axel.
Good two through the three jump combo, triple lutz, double toe, double loop.
Another double axel, just one more triple to go.
And that's the salchow.
Wonderful, a difficult entry into the playback spin.
Not sure the finish position was established just as she'd like it but otherwise, a stellar, stellar skate.
From Luna Hendrix, complete redemption from a less than optimal short program yesterday
and a smile across the face of the athlete who turned 26 earlier this week.
And we, having seen her earlier this season, we cannot forget what an amazing comeback that this is
from a skater who, not many months ago, had surgery and off the ice, ankle surgery in February
of this year and yet, back to form for Luna Hendrix.
It's brilliant to see a clean skate from this athlete which would have been a very respectable performance
had she not had the ankle surgery in February as she excitedly grabs the huge cuddly toy.
And brother Jorik, so invested along the journey with Luna as well.
And you could just tell from the start of the performance today, unlike the short program,
she was locked in, triple lutz, triple toe, and giving it the relevant lift and timing that was necessary
for no issues with rotation. I talk about rotation a lot but not often an issue for this athlete.
As we see that triple lutz, double toe, double loop.
And where Luna excels are the spinning passes, maintaining speed, accelerating,
ticking the box for the positive grade of execution as to, with her transitional content potential
embodied there, that multi-dimensional movement from high to low.
The judges need to see if they're to really reward the skater in terms of the composition and construction
of the program as we see a difficult entry into the layback spin.
I think potentially, just looking back, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 triples.
Perhaps as the season progresses the planned program content will increase in its difficulty.
We see some very raw and honest reactions both to the end of the program and the toys put on for her.
So it was a 1.38 in Beijing at the Olympic qualifier.
And it's a 1.36, a .52 for Luna Hendricks.
She and her siblings.
Good job on the Grand Prix debut this season.
