This is the mission we were born to be
on. We had no idea how much
communitydriven this would become and
how wonderful this place would be. All
those people starting with our daughters
who come through this door who have
either been adopted or part of the
foster care system have signed a heart
and put it up on our wall.
>> Hi, my name is Terry Crossen. This is my
beautiful sister Kristen Mancini and we
are the co-owners of Heart and Sold, a
nonprofit thrift store in Swathmore, PA
that benefits foster and adoptive
services in Delaware County. Everything
you see here has been generously
donated, which is why we can keep our
prices low. And in the process, we've
been able to donate in our first year of
operation $16,100
to our four different charities in
Delaware County. This is Kristen's
daughter, Nina, and this is my daughter,
Cat. Terry adopted her daughter, Cat,
close to 21 years ago. We adopted our
daughter, Nenah, about 7 years ago from
the same organization. It was such a
unique way to complete our families. And
it was such a perfect way to complete
our families that we wanted to help
other people do that. And there wasn't
enough awareness about the cost and just
the amount of kids in foster care, the
amount of kids that need adoption, the
amount of families that need support in
those areas.
>> You know, there's something for
everybody. I am so humbled by just the
generosity of people. We're growing in
leaps and bounds and the more people
that come and help us and the more
people that just stop in to say hi, the
more people we hug, it just keeps
building a larger and larger community.
And thanks for supporting Heart and
Sold.
