Assalamu alaikum and welcome to Germany for student channel.
Today we will discuss a general topic.
Today's topic will be about Adjectives.
Adjectives topic is also relevant in A1, A2, B1.
In today's lesson, we will see in which situations and when we have to use the ending of the adjective
and in which situations we do not have to use the ending of the adjective.
At the end of this lesson, you will get a complete understanding of the Adjective.
That how we have to use the Adjective in our sentences.
So let's start the lesson.
First, let's take a sentence.
Das Kind ist klein.
The child is small.
Now in this sentence, Das Kind is a subject.
Klein which means small is an Adjective.
We have taken Klein as a Klein.
We have not used the ending of the Adjective.
Similarly, let's see another sentence.
Die Frau ist schön.
The woman is beautiful.
In this sentence, we have used the Adjective as it is.
Schön is an Adjective which means beautiful.
Let's see the next example.
Der Mann ist reich.
The man is rich.
Reich which means rich is also an Adjective.
We have used it without the ending.
Next example is
Die Leute sind nett.
People are nice or good.
Now these are four sentences.
In these four sentences, we have used four different types of subjects or four different types of nouns.
We have used Das Kind which is a neuter noun.
Die Frau which is a feminine noun.
Der Mann which is a masculine noun.
Die Leute which is a plural noun.
But in all the cases, we have used the basic form of the Adjective.
We have not changed or added any ending.
The reason for this is that the Adjective has come at the end.
After this, no noun has come.
So when the Adjective comes at the end of the sentence or there is no noun after the Adjective,
then we will use the basic form of the Adjective.
We will not add any ending or e or es or en etc.
So this is the first rule that if there is no noun after the Adjective, then the basic form of the Adjective will be used.
Now let's see some more examples.
Das Kind ist klein.
We have seen this before.
In this, we had Klein Klein.
Now in this sentence, I keep the Adjective before the noun.
So a noun will come after the Adjective.
Now here we will not use Klein.
Instead, we will use Kleine.
Das Kleine Kind weint.
Chota Bacha rohta hai.
Now here we have added the ending of the Adjective because we have used the noun after the Adjective.
And the ending of the Adjective will depend on two things.
Which Adjective ending to use.
One will depend on the noun.
Is the noun masculine, feminine or neuter?
And the second will depend on the case in which we are using the noun.
Is it a Nominative case, Accusative case, Dative case or Genitive case?
So here Kind is a neuter noun and it is in the Nominative case.
Therefore, in the Nominative case, for the neuter noun, if we want to use an Adjective after Das,
then we have to add an E or A in the German language.
Therefore, here we have used Das Kleine Kind weint.
Let's see the next example.
Die Frau ist schön.
The woman is beautiful.
We have seen this example before.
Die schöne Frau ist nicht zu Hause.
The beautiful woman is not at home.
Now here in the second sentence, we have also put an E in front of Schön.
Because a noun is also coming after the Adjective.
Here Frau is a feminine noun and it is in the Nominative case.
Therefore, here we have to add an E after the Adjective.
So Schön will be Schöne.
Let's see the next example.
Der Mann ist reich.
The man is rich.
The rich man is generous.
In this sentence, two Adjectives are being used.
The first Adjective is before the noun.
Der reiche Mann.
And the second noun is at the end of the sentence.
So the Adjective which is before the noun, we have to use an Ending after it.
According to the noun and according to the case.
Here we have taken a masculine noun.
And that masculine noun is in the Nominative case.
Therefore, Reiche will become Reiche.
And Großzügig is also an Adjective.
But this Adjective is coming at the end of the sentence.
There is no other noun before it.
Therefore, we will not use any Ending after it.
Let's see the next example.
Die Leute sind nett.
People are nice.
Die nette Leute sind ehrlich.
Good people are honest.
In this sentence, two Adjectives are being used.
The first Adjective is before the noun.
Therefore, for the plural noun, for the Nominative case.
We will use the Ending of the Adjective.
Which is a.
So after net or any Adjective which is before the plural noun in the Nominative case.
For that, after the Adjective, we will have to add a.
And the second noun which is coming at the end of the sentence.
There is no other noun after it.
It will remain as it is.
In the basic form, Ehrlich will remain Ehrlich.
Let's see some more examples.
Der kluge Lehrer erklärt die Grammatik.
Clever teacher explains grammar.
Leger is a Masculine noun and is in the Nominative case.
Therefore, kluge is an Adjective.
In the basic form, we will add an E in the German language.
So kluge will become kluge.
Die freundliche Frau hilft den Kindern.
Friendly woman helps children.
The Adjective is before the noun.
The noun is Feminine and is in the Nominative case.
Therefore, we have to add an A at the end of Freundlich.
Which we have done here.
Das große Haus steht am Fluss.
The big house is on the river.
The house is a Noiter noun and is used in the Nominative case.
Therefore, we will add an E before the Adjective.
It will become Große.
Let's see some more examples.
Der fleißige Student ist sehr intelligent.
The hardworking student is very intelligent.
Two Adjectives have been used.
One Adjective is before the noun.
For that, we have used an Ending.
From the Nominative case.
For the Masculine noun, the second Adjective is at the end of the sentence.
For that, we will not use an Ending.
Die freundliche Lehrerin ist immer geduldig.
Lehrerin is a Feminine noun.
For the Adjective before that, we will use an Ending.
For the Nominative case.
In which we add an E after the Adjective.
Or in German, we add an A.
The second Adjective is geduldig.
It is used at the end of the sentence.
There is no noun after that.
Therefore, we will use its basic form.
Next example.
Das schnelle Auto ist wirklich teuer.
The fast car is really expensive.
Two Adjectives have been used in this sentence.
One is before the noun.
We will use its Adjective Ending.
Because it is before the noun.
And in the Nominative case.
Therefore, it will be Schnelle.
Das schnelle Auto.
The second Adjective is at the end of the sentence.
There is no noun before that.
Therefore, its Adjective Ending is not used.
Now, using this concept,
this is an exercise for you.
Der fleißige Schüler arbeitet konzentriert.
You have a noun in the second sentence.
It is in the Nominative case.
The noun itself is a feminine noun.
Therefore, you have to use its Adjective Ending.
In the third example.
We have a noun in the Nominative case.
But it is a neuter noun.
Therefore, you have to use its Adjective Ending.
You have to give its answer in the comments.
And give your feedback.
Did you understand the Adjectives better from this lesson?
Based on your feedback,
I am improving the A1 and A2 playlists.
I am adding more content in it.
Therefore, I will be waiting for your feedback.
See you in the next video.
