National Adoption Day Celebration at the Hampden County Juvenile Courthouse

Well, it is National Adoption Day and families are celebrating adoptes right here in Western Massachusetts. 22 News reporter Nick Antanakis joins us live in studio now with a look at some of the ceremonies. >> Kaylee, 134 adoptions are taking place across the state today with 13 children being adopted right here at the Hampton County Juvenile Courthouse in Holio. Parents, friends, and more from nine families came together to celebrate the introduction of some new members joining their crews through adoption. Today brings attention to children who need homes and calls on those who are able and willing to adopt to step up. And what better pitch is there than seeing how happy it makes these children who are finding new homes as well as the joy on their new family members faces. Bernice Faren adopted her niece today and is incredibly proud to call her her own. >> My love has grown for her and I have grown really attached to her. So even though she is my niece, it just makes it more special and I think every child deserves a loving home and to be adopted and to have that family that accepts them. >> Leading up to the ceremonies themselves, kids got to celebrate with popcorn, face painting, and a spinning wheel.
