Super Affiliate, Tom Bell, explains why affiliate marketing explodes in January and the best niches to promote at this time of year.
January is one of those months where affiliate marketing can feel like it flips into a
completely different gear. And if you've never experienced it, you're about to understand why.
Because two things often happen at this time. One, CPMs and ad costs drop,
two, conversion rates can climb. And when those two stack together,
it can feel like the easiest month of the year to get traction.
Hi guys, Tom Bell here from Revenue Tactics, your go-to affiliate marketing channel.
If you want to maximise your affiliate earnings over January period in Q1,
which is an amazing period for affiliate marketing,
then be sure to subscribe and hit that notification bell.
In this video, I'm going to explain why January does this and which niches benefit most,
and how to structure your testing so you can actually capitalise on it
without burning cash chasing hype. Let's start with lower CPMs,
because that's usually the first thing people notice.
In many ad ecosystems, native social display, Q4, is the most competitive period.
Big brands go heavy in November and December because they're fighting for holiday sales.
Then January hits and a lot of those budgets pause, reset,
or get reduced while companies reassess spend.
So you often get this post-holiday exhale where competition drops and CPMs and CPCs often soften.
Now, quick reality check, this is not a law of physics.
Some offers, some countries, some platforms can behave differently.
But the point is, January is commonly when the auction cools down,
and that creates massive opportunity.
If you're testing a new offer, January is a great time to do it
because your data cost is often lower.
Now the second half is even more important, conversion rates.
January is basically the month where people make internal decisions like,
I'm sick of feeling like this, I'm not going into another year broke,
I need to fix my health, I need a fresh start.
So obviously buyer intent goes up.
And when intent goes up, conversion rates can rise because people aren't browsing, they're seeking.
This is why January can feel crazy.
If your traffic is cheaper and your conversion rate rises even slightly,
your ROI can jump up fast.
Simple maths.
If your CPM drops 20% and your conversion rate rises by 1 to 3%,
your profitability can change dramatically because you're winning on both sides of the equation.
Now January isn't always equally good for every niche.
It's best for niches that line up with new year identity change.
Here are the big ones.
Bucket one, weight loss, metabolism, fitness.
This is an obvious one.
People are motivated and they're looking for a reason it hasn't worked before.
Angles that crush, hidden cause, metabolism stuck after 35-40,
morning ritual, why cardio isn't working.
Things like that.
Bucket two, make money online side hustle.
People look at their finances after December and get serious.
So angles could be after-work income plan, simple system from home,
normal people doing this quietly, that kind of thing.
Bucket three, detox gut energy, post-holidays, bloating, fatigue, inflammation.
Some of the angles you could try, one ingredient causing bloating,
the gut issue nobody talks about or maybe even why you're tired all the time.
Bucket four, self-improvement, confidence, productivity.
This is massively underrated but really strong when messaging is about identity.
Some angles, you're not lazy, you're overloaded,
why you can't focus anymore or this one habit that resets motivation.
Key point, January amplifies what people already want, your job is to match it.
Now here's the painful bit.
Most affiliates don't benefit from January because they show up with no system,
no angles and no discipline.
They just throw at one campaign and if it doesn't work in 24 hours, they switch offers.
January still rewards structured testing, not motivation.
So here's what I do if you want to take advantage of lower CPMs and stronger conversion intent.
If you want to take advantage of January, you need a testing plan that does two things.
One, gets your data fast and two, stops you from making emotional decisions.
So here's a game plan for you that you could run which is a very general framework around
the concepts that I teach inside my private coaching program
while we're personally with you to build your affiliate business.
If you want to find out more about that, check out the link in the description below guys.
Step one, pick one offer and lock it in for 14 days.
Not forever, just long enough to get signal
because the fastest way to waste January is switching offers every 48 hours.
Never really learning what's actually broken.
So choose one click bank offer with a strong VSL and commit to it for two weeks.
Step two, build one simple funnel and don't touch it for the first 200 clicks.
Native or Facebook ad, pre-sale page to VSL.
And for the first 200 clicks, you're not optimizing, you're collecting evidence.
Most people start changing pages after 30 clicks and all they've done is destroy the experiment.
Step three, budget and time.
Keep it boring.
Here's a clean structure for you.
$50 a day total to start.
Whatever your baseline is, that's per day.
Run it for 48 to 72 hours without touching anything.
Aim for roughly 300 to 500 clicks total across the test
because you can't judge anything off a handful of clicks.
Step four, your decision rules.
This is the part people really need.
Now, how do we decide what stays and what dies?
Use these rules.
Rule A, if an ad can't get clicks, it's dead.
If CTR is weak after it's had a fair chance, don't sit there hoping.
The market is telling you the reason isn't strong.
Rule B, if it does get clicks but the funnel does nothing after,
100 to 200 clicks to the pre-sale, you've got a mismatch.
That means one of two things.
The landing page isn't framing the offer properly
or the offer just isn't pulling for that audience.
Rule C, if one reason is clearly outperforming the others, go with that.
This is the big one.
Affiliates love keeping losers running because they want everything to work.
But if one reason is winning, you should shift budget into that winner
and build variations around it.
So yes, January can be one of the best months of the year in affiliate marketing
because you often get cheaper traffic and stronger buying intent.
But it only rewards you if you show it with structure.
One offer, multiple angles, track properly, and scale what's working.
If you want the full blueprint, my exact testing structure,
angle creation, pre-sale frameworks, and scaling process,
