This is a new chess puzzle designed by Sherzod Haidar Bekov.
It is called Four Caballeros. And the goal here is quite simple.
Just put all four knights to the red squares on the opposite side of the board.
This puzzle requires 134 moves to solve it.
So it is like 33 moves per knight.
But if it is your first time,
I bet it will be at least twice as many moves.
If you like the Four Caballeros puzzle and you want to try to solve it by
yourself, you can get it in my puzzle store.
Link will be in the video description.
And if you want to see me struggling to solve the puzzle,
keep watching the video. So let's see what I have to do here.
All the bishops are on the black squares.
All the rooks are on the white, but they can change squares.
Bishops won't be able to move to the white squares. And there are four knights.
So I guess I have to put as many rooks as possible to the bottom row.
And then the knights will go all the way up. So let's see.
This one goes here. What if I put that knight? Which knight?
This knight can go here. This goes here. Okay.
That sounds fun. Oh, two knights go here. This one goes in here.
Okay. That's a huge progress.
So one rook is in the bottom row. Looks good.
So far. Oh, this knight can go here. Oh,
I can probably even move it all the way to the left, right?
Right in here. Okay.
Maybe I can put the knight to the red squares in the top row.
Now let's see if I put it here, then I can put it right in there.
Or maybe it is too soon. Okay. Let's try to... Oh no.
If I put the knight here, it will be a dead end. Oh, might be not.
Let's try. This goes in here. This one goes in here.
This one goes in here. And like that.
That is interesting. Not perfect, but that is interesting.
I wish I could put another rook right in here. Let's try this move.
Then maybe this move. Then I will put another bishop here.
Not the ideal move, I think. Yeah, but let's try. Let's see.
This goes in here. This goes in here. Knight in here.
This can go in here and the knight goes back in here. Oh,
I'm always coming back. I don't know if it's good or bad,
but I'm always coming back. This goes in here.
Maybe I'll try something with this one. This goes in here.
This goes here. Oh, I think,
I think that I found a way how to get rid of the first knight and maybe it was
a good move. So probably I have to get rid of those two bishops.
And that's another dead end. Nope.
It feels like putting the knight on the red square made more damage than good.
Okay. What if I move this in here?
Maybe I have to remove the knight from the top square.
Let's see the knight goes here. I can put these two back here.
This is the one that gives me hard time.
I need to trade those bishops to rooks.
I'm pretty sure if I move this one here, this one stays.
Oh, that can be pretty stupid,
but maybe it will save me a little bit. And this one goes in here.
Let's see. Yeah, that was pretty stupid.
There are no other moves that I can do here. So let's go back.
This one goes here. This one goes here.
This one can go in here. The knight will go there,
but I won't be able to do anything with that square.
I think it was a bad idea to put the knight to the top row,
since now it occupies one of the spots of the bishops.
And I have to put the bishop back there. Gives me more rooks to play with. Okay.
That's a good idea. Don't know if it will work,
but at least it is an idea.
If I can put it like that, this goes in here.
Okay. That's something new. At least after 25 minutes of solving the puzzle,
I have something new. Oh, I think that I made a mistake somewhere.
I definitely made a mistake somewhere,
since I have one of the bishops on a white square. That is not possible.
Let's see where I made a mistake.
Probably this is where the mistake was made. Yeah.
It was supposed to be something like this. Yeah, probably like this.
And now like this and that. Okay. Now it feels right.
Feels like I made a mistake. Then I fixed it,
but fixed it wrong since I have too much progress now.
If you noticed where I made a mistake, just let me know.
I'll try to find it while editing the video,
but it doesn't feel right now.
Maybe I did something good since two rooks are in here,
but maybe it was a mistake. And I haven't noticed that.
It feels like I'm very close to solving the puzzle,
but I have this feeling that it's because of my mistake.
Oh, don't like it. Okay. That's the first knight.
Oh, I think that I got the next one. There are two.
But it goes so slow and so hard and then I have to
remove this one somehow. That will be quite a challenge. Okay.
Now I have a lot of rooks here in a row.
Maybe they will help me to move forward somehow.
This goes here. This goes. Nope. Nope. I think that I tried it already.
Oh, but I have another trick in my sleep. I can go here.
That might be interesting. And please go here. This goes here.
This goes here. Okay.
That feels pretty well packed. Just exactly as I wanted it to be,
but I don't think it will help me. Let's see. This goes here.
This goes here. This goes here. And that's a dead end. No.
Like this goes here. This goes here.
This goes here. This goes here. Finally. Okay.
Solved all the four Caballeros at the red squares.
I hope all the moves were legit.
I think that at some point I made something weird,
but I hope that wasn't cheating.
But eventually I was able to solve the puzzle 45 minutes.
And I don't think it was 134 moves. Probably it was like 500 moves.
Crazy puzzle. It can last you for a while.
If you put it on your coffee table and solve it daily, like 5-10 moves every day,
you will be solving it for probably half a year. Great puzzle.
If you like it and you want to buy it, you can get it in my puzzle store.
