Hello friends! Welcome back to my channel. Today I'm taking you along with me to one of my favorite
antique stores to browse the aisles and booths and see what kind of treasures we can find.
Then we're going to head back home and I'll show you how I like to style some of my favorite
pieces. I'm always drawn to items that feel timeless and have a story behind them and I
think adding those antique touches really brings so much character into a home. I hope you enjoy
coming along with me today and I'm so glad you're here.
Hello friends! Good morning! I hope you're having a great start to your day or evening if that's
when you're watching this. Today we are continuing on our home refresh series here on my channel.
It's January. It's that time of year where I've redecorated the house after Christmas. It's
feeling cozy again and one of the ways that I love to kind of be creative this time of year
is to get core decor pieces for my home. So this year I've decided to kind of make it a priority
if you will to go to the antique store once a week. I'm going to be taking you guys along with
me over on Instagram to see my antique find of the week every week. I think I'm going to be
posting those reels on Fridays but I might switch it around. So go follow me over there if you'd
like to see more behind the scenes of that but today I'm going to be sharing with you a recent
trip to the antique store. My mom and I love to go together and look around and she's doing the
same thing in her home. She's wanting to find some small furniture pieces. She has her eye out
for some things. So we've been hitting up a few of our favorite local antique shops. I think it'll
be a lot of fun to take you guys along. If you enjoy this video be sure to give it a like. Don't
forget to subscribe. I would love to have you all stick around. I just got an iced brown sugar
shake and espresso and it is hitting the spot today. I'm like dealing with this sinus stuff
that's been going around and I've had it for 14 days now. So bear with me on my voice throughout
today's video. I know I sounded like it in my last video which I filmed a week ago and we're still
here. So anyways I hope you all are doing well. I hope you're having a creative start in your homes.
It's so fun. I love this time of year. It's so inspiring and in videos to come this month I'm
also filming my kitchen refresh which I'm so excited. It feels so cozy. I'm looking at it
right now. That's why I keep looking. But yeah I hope that my channel brings you all inspiration,
creativity. It just inspires you to have fun in your own home with your decor or new recipes
that you make. I actually opened up my phone this morning and I pulled up my YouTube app and
eight years ago today is the day that I posted my very first YouTube video which is crazy. So I've
officially been on YouTube for eight years and it's just wild to me. I never would have dreamed
that one I would still be here making videos for you all every single week. But I am truly
so grateful that God has allowed me to stay in this role and to create content and to
keep my creativity flowing and just have fun with it. Truly this has been the funnest journey and
it's been something that I've been able to do while I stay home with my kids. I've been able to
have them at home with me all these years and I'm so thankful for it. So thank you all so much for
being here and just being my online community. Truly it means the world to me and my family
and we're so grateful. So anyways let's go ahead and get started. Let's head off to the
antique store. Let me know what you are excited for this year. Drop a comment down below. I would
love to chat with you all. I'm trying to get better about responding to comments this year.
That's one of my goals as well. So leave a comment and I'm gonna try my best to respond
at least within the first few days of the video going live. I appreciate you guys and I'm excited
for a new year.
All right I feel like this first week we kind of knocked it out of the park. I'm not gonna lie.
I feel like we found some really great deals. When I'm going antiquing I honestly like a thrift
store price or just slightly higher than a thrift store price. I am not about going to
antique stores and one pottery piece being $200. That's not what we're about. We are about the
deals, the finds, and we're just looking to add some old texture elements to our home to create
a really cozy, lived-in, more cottage European feel. So that's what I've been drawn to the last
several years and I'm slowly bringing things into my home. So we're looking for staple pieces as I
go to the antique stores that are actually good deals. So let me show you guys what I picked up
and then we're gonna style them together. So the first piece is this beautiful pottery crock.
Basically you could use this for styling wooden spoons, rolling pins. I actually have one behind
me here that is very similar but it's a smaller size. These I also love to put plants in.
Taller like tree-like plants are really pretty in these or even Christmas trees. I know Christmas
is over and we're refreshing our homes but these are so cute to stick a plant of some sort in.
Even like in the fall you can have mums in these. They're beautiful. So I found this one for I think
$27 which I thought was a great deal because it's in decent condition. It does have some cracks
but I don't mind. I'm not using it to fill water or anything in. I've seen these go for $75-80
plus dollars which I would never spend that much on one of these but I think they are beautiful.
This is something you cannot find at HomeGoods. So I picked this one up and when I see good deals on
jugs or unique things I can use to style on my kitchen shelves or put some flowers in, I'm always
drawn to those especially if they're a good price. So I found this little jug here and I have some
that are similar to this. I usually will put these out during fall but right now I've been adding in
a lot of brown tones to my kitchen. You can kind of see behind me. So I'm gonna style this one
probably on my open shelves over above my coffee nook and I think this one is beautiful. Again,
in great condition. Nice heavy old pottery piece that adds so much charm and then my favorite jug,
I really don't have anything like this and I loved the color. It's kind of like a chocolate brown,
I don't even know, almost pewter, not pewter, chocolate brown to charcoal color and I thought
it was beautiful. It does have a chip in the bottom but that's okay. I'm probably going to
just flip it this way. This one was again under $20 which I thought was a great deal and I love
adding in darker pieces like this. I think this looks like something Amber Lewis would style with.
So many different ways you could style and I feel like jugs like this I could put on my living room
shelves or my kitchen shelves and they just add so much character and texture. Okay, I also have
never found anything like this but since I love pottery, I saw these candlesticks and these are
I'm assuming original pieces. They are etched in the bottom and it says the year was 84. So I think
so me. I wish I had something in 84 of significance but I really don't. This one was 84 and the other
two were 83. The holes on top are also kind of just like wonky so I'll have to use something
to secure the candlesticks in them but I love the color of these. They're a perfect taupey brown.
They've got lots of texture on them. I just think they're beautiful so and I also love anything in
a set of three so I grabbed those. These were $12 for all three of them. I feel like that's a great
deal. Okay, another thing that I just happened to see. I think this was $3. It's just a little
hurricane or vase. I could put little fresh flowers in here or use it for a candle. So I
have a little candle that I pulled out of my candle stash and placed it in there and I think
that'll be just a cute little cozy moment for this time of year. Place it on some books or just
in a baguette on my counter and it gives that really high-end feel. I also, okay, I want to add
in some pewter to my kitchen specifically this year. Just a little bit, a little touch of it.
I know it's getting so popular but I do like the mixed metal look. I have a lot of brass. I have
some copper. I don't really have anything silver in my kitchen. A few years ago I would have been like
no, no silver whatsoever but I think an antique aged silver is actually really nice. So I found
just a few little things. These were all under five dollars. I think I paid like two or three
dollars at the antique store for these. The first one is a little tiny picture frame. It has a little
stand and I'm going to take this picture out. It kind of has a yellow cast on it. I don't know if
that's the picture or the plastic but I'm going to take it all out and add just a little family
picture and I'll just prop this up on my shelves or just create some sort of vignette or I thought
it would be cute if I made it into a magnet and put it on my refrigerator. So some options for that.
I also you know when you go to the antique store and you see something and then you see 50 more of
that one thing whether it's a gold mirror or sometimes it's a crock or sometimes you know
there's just different things that once you see it then you see a million of. Well on this trip
all I could see were bells. I feel like I saw a hundred different bells and it was almost comical
at one point. They had little bells, big bells, I mean giant ones even and my mom and I were cracking
up because for some reason there was just a ton of these little bells. So I thought this was cute.
This is so tiny and dainty and will just add a little bit of charm. I think my kids will have
fun with this too but it's just a little pewter bell and I'm guessing it's silver and I could
probably get some stuff to make it shine a little bit more so I might do that but we'll see.
And then the last thing that I got for my kitchen that's kind of pewter silver like is a toothpick
holder which is so cute and charming and that's what I love about antiquing is you just find those
unique things that you could never find at TJ Maxx or Home Goods. So I found this little guy
three dollars, can't beat it. It came with toothpicks which I don't know how I feel about that.
Those are probably going to get tossed but I thought this was very cute. On one side it's plain
on the other side though it is etched and it says I'll pick for you. So we're going to be placing it
on the plain side but I thought this was really cute especially for three dollars. And then some
of my bigger finds as of lately in that same antiquing trip in one of the booths my mom found
this beautiful stool which I always love a good sturdy stool. One because you can put plants on
top, you can use it as an end table even, you can place it in between two chairs and the
possibilities are endless. So I wanted something to put next to my freestanding tub in our bathroom
and I thought this would be perfect. So let me know should I keep it this color? I kind of like it.
Or should I strip it down and do more of a raw wood look? You guys know that's usually my jam
so let me know what I should do for this one. If I do strip it I'll show you guys the process
and because I use easy off and it is the easiest thing ever to get finishes off of real wood
pieces. So love this one. This was $20. Okay and then last but not least I have a picture
that I just went into the thrift store. This was not an antique find but a local thrift store of
mine. I'll pop into every few months. I have not been very consistent going in there but I just
happened to go in the other day or a few weeks ago and I found probably my favorite find ever
from the thrift store and it is a Robert Woods landscape picture. How beautiful is this? This
is like the way to start out the year. So obviously this is a fall or autumn landscape picture and I'm
going to just tuck this away until the fall. If you guys remember in my dining room this past year
I put up a Robert Woods painting that I found at a yard sale for $20 and I thought it was the
best deal. I love the frame, the detail on it. I love the original artwork of Robert Woods. I think
his paintings are beautiful. That one was more like orange toned and I put it in our dining room
for the fall and I absolutely loved it but when I saw this one at the thrift store it's more
maroon base colors. It's so pretty and you guys this was $12. I could not believe it. It's a huge
piece of art. This one I want to say is a print though. This is not an original like you can't
feel the strokes on this one so someone it's just a reprint of it where the other one is actual
texture which is nice but I don't care. I think it's beautiful and I love it. So that is my antique
finds for the week and I can't wait to style these. So I hope this gave you some inspiration.
Go check out your antique stores. If you want some decor that tells a story, that feels different,
that isn't cookie cutter, find a decor that feels like you. There's nothing better than going to an
antique store or thrift store or a yard sale or Facebook marketplace or anywhere that you can
find things second hand. These are just the hidden gems and I really enjoy them. So I'm excited
to bring you guys along this new series on my channel where I take you guys to the antique
store. So again check me out over on Instagram if you haven't already. I'm going to start posting
on there a lot more so I would love for you to come say hi over there and thank you guys for
watching. I hope you have a blessed day and I'll see you all soon in my next one. Bye friends!
