Hey there, everyone. My name is Jenna. Welcome or welcome back to the channel.
In today's video, we're just going to do kind of a casual vintage shop with me. I'm going to go
with my friend Brandy and we're going to check out the Brass Armadillo. And if you guys are
unfamiliar with Brandy, you probably aren't, you probably already follow her, but she has an
amazing YouTube channel of her own and she has such good taste. Her style is very elegant yet
casual. And it's just so much fun to get to shop with her because she has so many good styling
ideas. And whenever we're shopping together, we feel like the time passes so quickly. We feel
like we've been there for like a half hour, but we look at the clock and we've been there for like
four hours. So I figured I'd take you guys along with us. And this is an antique mall, so it's a
little bit more curated. So these are vintage pieces that have been sourced by shop owners
and you're supporting small business. So these things are typically a little bit more expensive
than they would be at the thrift store, but you're really just searching for those one of a kind
treasures. So I'm going to give you guys styling tips and decorating ideas with everything that
we see, and it should be a fun time. So without further ado, let's go shopping. Okay. So I just
spotted this set of woven chargers. It's only 24 bucks for a set of four. And you guys know,
I love using wovens in my tablescapes. It just helps to add, you know, that little touch of
warmth and texture and breaks up, you know, all of the linens and the ceramics and the glassware
and just adds a really beautiful contrast to all those materials. So I love that these are vintage
and, you know, so nice to just like put your ceramic plate in there. I think that's really
cute and would dress it up instantly. And then I also thought that this set of handmade cross-stitch
napkins was so cute. Like, look at that with the little cross-stitch on there. Looks like some
blackberries. Oh, and they're all different. That one has blueberries. Oh, that is precious.
These are so cute. 32 bucks for the set of four. Okay. This is actually an original painting and
the frame is stunning. It's a little too much color for my personal space, but it would look
really gorgeous. Like, you know, on a little corner wall, maybe with like some hanging hooks
under it and you could hang like a purse or something in an entryway. Just really simple, but
I don't know. I love the charm of it. Let's see how much. 55. Not horrible. Again, just love that
detail on the frame. I think that's really unique. This would also be really pretty just in a bathroom
or, you know, mixed into a gallery wall. This booth has some really beautiful original art pieces.
This one's pretty substantial, but then they have also some of these really cute smaller accent ones.
I love this pear one. This one's 45. And then this one's my absolute favorite because I love
the frame on that. Like, this hung in a kitchen or just propped up against the backsplash in a kitchen.
Says 60. Super charming. Or you could use a combination of the two and just put them on a
wall. I love that. Oh my gosh, you guys. I don't know if you remember, but I found that little
vintage wooden shoe at the thrift store and I used it in my Christmas decorating. And how cute. This
one's a pear and these have such a gorgeous patina on them. I love that you have this set here. So,
I don't know if you would like maybe hang these from a tree or you could maybe use the pear and
like tie them somewhere like on a wreath. That could actually be kind of cute. But it's $19
for the pear, but this is a really beautiful set. Okay, so this kind of looks like one of those
old world Italian bowls, like a replica. I ended up buying one at Olive Atelier and I love the
look of it. Apparently they had these kind of like green splotches on there to keep flies away.
That's what it was originally designed for. But this one does look like a replica, but it's only
$20. And those ones that are like the real vintage ones can go for hundreds of dollars.
They're very pricey. So, this is kind of like a cute, you know, one that has a similar look to it.
It also had these little appetizer bowls that went in there too. I just thought that was kind
of cute for the kitchen. Oh my gosh, you guys. You guys remember I got a new sled this year and
I found mine on Facebook Marketplace after seeing that one in Laguna Beach and they ended up
not selling it to me because it was for display only after I got so excited about it. But here's
another similar one and this one is $1.50. And it's kind of like a darker color, which I really
like. It's got more of like the deeper rich tone to the wood, but you can still tell it's like
really old and just has that vintage-y feel to it. Really pretty to decorate with for Christmas.
This little handled vintage crock is so cute. This would make a really cute floral vase,
you know, just for that like subtle old world feel. I love the distressing on the handle there.
It's $30, but, you know, it's crazy because you would buy a brand new pitcher for $30,
but this one actually has a ton of character and it'd be really simple. It'd go with a lot
of different styles and just be really nice with some wildflowers or something.
Okay, so I found this little rustic wire cloche like dome and I actually think that this would
be really beautiful to use in a garden. So if you have something like a little tomato plant or like
a pepper plant that you don't want animals getting, you can just pop this over it and it kind of looks
really whimsical and just adds some charm to the garden, but it's actually really practical. So,
you know, these things are kind of hard to find, especially for something to protect garden plants
like in a raised bed or something. I just think that that has a lot of charm. Brandy just pointed
this out and we kind of just freaked over the price because it's only $35. It does have a little
crack up here that's been repaired, but I actually kind of like that. Definitely has like that kind
of old world vintagey look to it, like the more imperfect it is. I mean, we wouldn't want the
whole thing to be cracked open, but I think it's kind of cute. Yeah, it's the little crack on it.
Yeah, exactly. But hear me out. This is a stripe, so when you look out at the pool and you have
that other pattern, I think it's going to add a little bit more interest and like kind of take
that outside into the inside. You know what I mean? You're right. And another thing is I actually
could put it outside and mix it in with my terracotta outside too. Or even on your dining
table outside. Yes. To add more pattern. See, this is why it's so much fun to shop with Brandy,
but it's also so dangerous. I know. This is kind of a cute little booth.
I like this little wall shelf over here. It's $32 and I just think this would be cute in like a
kitchen on a little blank wall. You know, you could hang some mugs or, you know, put some
plants and some spices. Just kind of something that looks old world and vintagey. And I love
the texture on the wood and the color and how it's like a darker rich tone. Okay, this is pretty
simple, but I actually like it. It kind of has more of that, you know, Mediterranean feel. 17
bucks. I like that the inside is glazed. So, you know, you could put flowers in here. You can put
water. You know, it's easy to clean if you put utensils, but I love like the warmth of the clay
on the outside. I think that's simple, but still really pretty. This really neat kind of like
abstract looking marble bowl. It's only $24 and that'd be such a statement piece on like a shelf
or a coffee table. I love that. You could also use this to like hold garlic or some fresh produce
on a kitchen countertop just to give it some personality. I really like that and $24 is a
great price. This is actually a really pretty brown crock. I love adding browns to my space.
I have a lot of like brown vases and this is actually a really decent price.
Yeah, and it's glazed on the inside. So again, I just like that durability to where, you know,
you can put water in here and you can easily wash it. It does have a little bit of wear down there,
I think, but still hold up nice for like a little floral vase or something. And I love the chippiness
around the corners too. It almost looks handmade too. Yeah, I think so because the bottom is like,
the glaze is a little messy. Okay, this primitive, I think it's called like a Kiva ladder.
It's only $45 and it's really rustic looking. It has a lot of distressed details, which I love.
And I actually think this would be beautiful in a bathroom to hang towels, like in a guest bathroom
if you had an extra spot of wall. You could do some towels and then little hand towels on there.
I think that's so cute. I love this kind of like ripply glass. If you had a candle in here,
like just on a coffee table. $45 is a little pricey, but I just think that's so pretty.
Just even on a shelf, just to add that little romantic glow and to catch the light. I think
that's so stunning. Okay, Brandy just pointed out this set of vintage handmade flower cups
and honestly, this is actually really difficult to do to paint the glaze to look like this.
Like how realistic they look and each one is hand signed. I think it was $25. It said set of four,
so we're kind of wondering where the fourth one is, but I just thought these were so precious.
There's only three, but it'd be kind of nice to find the fourth one. I don't know if we can
try to see if there's one around the rest of the booth. We didn't see one, but
I thought those were really cute. Look at all this blue and white pottery.
Honestly, blue and white is really interesting because there's so many different styles.
Like, you know, you have this, which looks a little bit more English. I've seen these actually,
they sell them online at like TJ Maxx and Marshall's sometimes. You can get them at
home goods too, but this is a little bit more, even though it's like a floral pattern,
it feel like it looks a little bit more Spanish or even like Southwestern. So it's kind of funny
how it's like, you know, you have the blue and white, which is so iconic, but there's so many
different types of styles. Like this actually looks maybe a little bit Japanese. So it's kind
of fun, all the different places that have their own blue and white patterns. Oh my gosh, you guys,
look at these hand carved handle stick holders. That is so pretty. Let me see how much,
look at that. Let's see how much they are. $24 for the pair. That's actually really good.
These would look so beautiful with style together on like a mantle or even just on, you know,
a tablescape to add some texture. I love the finish on there. It is so beautiful with all
the chippiness. Okay. So I took them both down so we could kind of see them side by side.
Typically, I don't love the pair to be the same height, but what you could do to give them the
illusion, like they had different heights would be, you could, you know, stack this one on a
couple of books or something. Um, it might actually work that they are the same height.
If you wanted to use them on a tablescape, you know, you could put them and space them out a
little bit and then, you know, style some florals and do a little runner in the middle or, you know,
some greenery or something like that based on the hardware. I don't think they're actually old,
but they definitely have that old world look to them to the point where you can't really tell,
or you'd have to think twice if the candle was in here. So I love that. I love all the texture
and the hand carving on the wood. It's really pretty. I also love hand-blown glass. This is a
hand-blown in Mexico pitcher, 29 bucks. Like how cute would that be to serve margaritas in at a
party or something? Okay. So these old lights are so cool. They're one 12 each and they definitely
give off like a retro vibe. I love the patina here. And what's actually really cool is these
are different heights. So you can see this one's a little bit longer. So it'd be kind of cool to
hang them staggered, like maybe over a dining area outside. Brandy was saying like on a pergola,
these would look really beautiful. Just kind of cool if you like to incorporate, you know,
the earthy greens and some more of like that vintage-y retro look into a space.
I actually really love this little stone or like concrete planter with the ring handles.
It's 38 bucks, but it gives me that like kind of old world English garden feel. This would be
really pretty on like a table with, you know, some flowers inside or just to like make a floral
arrangement on. I love all of like the chippy cracked detail on there. I think that's really
pretty. And then these rings are kind of unique. You don't see that too often. It's kind of fun.
You could also use it indoors on like, you know, a shelf or styled on a table and just put some
moss inside. I think that would be really pretty too. Okay. I also really liked this pretty branch.
I've never seen anything like that before. It's $16 and I don't think I could unhook it without
having all these things shatter to the floor, but I just think that'd look really pretty on a shelf
just to add some texture, but I feel like it's kind of, you know, a little bit more natural.
I don't know. I just like the shape of it. Maybe it's not that unique, but I think it's kind of
cool. Like laid on its side, kind of similar to those grapevine branches. I found one of those
at the thrift store. I just think that they add, you know, a nice little sculptural shape to a
coffee table or a console table. This little floral platter is so cute. You can tell this
was handmade. The little knot detail on the corners. This would be a really pretty tray,
just like on a coffee table or something. I love that. Yeah. It doesn't have a signature,
but it is handmade. You can tell. A lot of times too, when it has these sun print or finger rings,
that was them pulling the ceramics out and trays this size are really hard to make,
especially this flat and even. So this is a really cool piece. Okay. So I just spotted this little
iron. It says egg poacher, but Brandy said that they're little S cargo plates and the bottom is
iron. And I just think these are so cute. And she was saying she thrifted a couple of these
for using as her little like paint palettes for mixing her oil paints. And I do watercolors. So
I thought it'd be fun to have this as like a little thing in the art studio that looks cute,
but it's also practical to use when you're painting. And I love the little blue on the
Okay. So I've mentioned on my channel a couple of times that nautical is trending. A lot of the
designer sites are selling some nautical accents. So we got this really pretty vintage serving
platter with a little dipping cup. Brandy, what do you think about like serving out of silver?
Like, is it okay? Like, okay. I think do whatever you feel comfortable with, with me. If it's like
room temperature dry item, I think it's fine. As long as it's not in there for a super long time.
At least this is like my own comfort. So I'm fine with that. But I usually, what I'll do is do like
a parchment paper just to kind of add a barrier. Smart. But they say to like not put salt. I do
sometimes put chips and popcorn in mine. Like, like I said, I try to not have it in there for
a long time. If you guys didn't know, Brandy is like the silver queen. I love silver. Yeah.
She knows all about it. But I do get a little risky and take my chances, but do your own
research and do your own thing. But I would say if you are going to use it, definitely
like a good way is to do parchment paper or a towel. Like if you do bread in here. Yeah. Or
like a little napkin. Or find a little liner that you can put in here and like do your butter and
bread. Or like a ceramic ramekin or something. Or two, like you don't even have to use it for food.
Like you could kind of how they have it styled as a little tray. Like this could be for a candle
and then you could style, you know, some beads or, you know, kind of like bowl filler in here.
That would just be really pretty. Like on a coffee table. Yeah. And honestly, you might,
yeah, you could take this off this little bowl right here and separate them. I mean,
you'll have a little hole, but yeah. So this video, I hope that you guys enjoy
coming along on this little casual shop with me. If you enjoyed it, please don't forget to give
