With a rough ride for drivers out in Chester County this afternoon, several cars were forced to pull over along the route 30 bypass after hitting deep potholes that damaged their tires.
Actually, he's reported Caroline Goggin live for us and mobile six tonight riding out in Chester County hairline. These drivers saying the damage happened within a matter of seconds.
Not an ideal situation, especially at the height of the afternoon. A lot of these people were headed home from work or the guy we talked to this evening said he was headed home from school.
The 30 bypass in Chester County was a mess this afternoon. All of these cars were stuck on the side of the road damaged by potholes. Cooper Cole was one of the unlucky drivers.
Out of absolutely nowhere, there's this big ditch across the entire road that I could not avoid to the car on my left side and ran right over it.
Kolb's front right tire popped, forcing him to immediately pull over about 10 other cars on the side of the road with us.
He says some people replace their tires while others waited for a tow.
This stretch is actually on PennDOT's list of 30 state highways to be repaired this week, along with I-76 and I-95.
The agency is currently handling more than 3,800 pothole reports, a higher volume than they've seen in recent years.
So far this year, they say they've used more than 740 tons of asphalt to patch up problem spots, like right here on the 30 bypass this afternoon.
Kolb says this highway has been a disaster lately.
All over 30, there's just potholes everywhere, and it's just you're swerving all over the road to avoid them all.
All right, back out here live in Mobile 6 tonight.
We are approaching 113 on the 30 bypass right now.
Again, this is the area where all of this unfolded this afternoon.
We did speak to PennDOT earlier today.
They did tell us that if you do any damage this season from a pothole that is on a state highway, you are able to file a claim for that damage.
Head to our website, 6abc.com, for all of that information if you happen to find yourself in need of some help.
