A woman and her two adult children are hospitalized today
after gunfire erupted on a North Philadelphia street.
Authorities say the suspect walked up to the home
and opened fire on a man and his sister right on their front porch.
When the couple ran inside, the bullets followed,
hitting their 49-year-old mother 11 times.
Action News reporter Walter Perez is live at Temple University
Hospital where those victims are being treated today.
Walter, what can you tell us?
Well, Sarah, as you'll see,
it is simply amazing that all three victims survived this ordeal.
Tonight, police do not know the motive behind
this brazen daytime attack, and the shooter remains on the loose.
Action News spoke with the sister of the 49-year-old woman
who was shot repeatedly this morning inside
her home on the 2800 block of North 20th Street.
In fact, the sister, who asked we conceal her identity,
says she was actually walking up to the house when it happened.
Well, I walked into it. I didn't hear anything.
I just literally walked right into it.
So you saw it?
At the end, yeah.
The whole thing unfolded just before 10 o'clock this morning.
Sources tell Action News a 29-year-old man
and his 27-year-old sister were on the porch
when someone simply walked up and opened fire.
Investigators say it seems
those two victims ran inside to escape the gunfire,
but the gunman allegedly ran inside behind them.
That's when the victim's mother was shot as well.
The 29-year-old man, whom police believe
was the intended target, was hit three times.
The 27-year-old sister was shot six times.
The 49-year-old mother was shot 11 times, all throughout her body.
The siblings were admitted to the hospital in stable condition.
The mother was critically wounded, but expected to recover.
I just talked to my sister.
Lots of pain.
Yeah, it's heart-wrenching for everybody right now.
Neighbors who heard the attacks say it was simply terrifying.
It was like 16 shots, it had to be.
It was pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.
My husband just took our kids to school.
They have to be in school by 8 o'clock and 8.30.
So the fact that he drives down the street,
that could have happened at any moment with my kids in the car.
The identity of the shooter remains unknown at this hour.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact police.
