Welcome back to Snow Dogs Cooking!
You guys! Today, we're making dinner together.
What are we making? We're making lasagna in the instant pot.
Which, I've never actually done before.
So, Greg has done this and I kind of got some tips from him.
We're going to try it and see how it turns out.
Lasagna is one of Jamie's favorite things.
It's not necessarily one of my favorite things.
Yes, the dogs are here to help.
Kira says, I'm going to help by playing with this toy the whole time you try to film.
Yeah! Well, I'm not going to stop you because it's adorable.
Memphis is also here to help.
Let's make some dinner!
So, to make this in our instant pot,
I am actually using this silicone tray and this small pan.
You can also use a small spring foam pan.
If you don't have one of these silicone trays,
your instant pot should have come with one of these metal trays.
This is important! You're going to want this in the bottom of your instant pot.
Everything is going to go in this tray and we still have to put water in it to make it work.
So, yeah! Let's get to it!
As for your ingredients, we are going to need some oven ready lasagna.
About two and a half to three cups of your pasta sauce.
I'm actually using leftover sauce with meat in it that I made the other day.
But, this is also a good choice. You can just use a jar kind.
We are going to need some ricotta cheese.
How do you say that correctly? Ricotta? Ricotta? Ricotta? I don't know!
This kind of cheese.
Some grated Parmesan cheese.
I just bought some in a container. You can also use fresh grated Parmesan cheese.
And some mozzarella cheese.
I will give you some measurements as we go along.
Memphis says, please open the bag of cheese because every time you open a bag of cheese, I get some.
You really know that too!
Watch her! Ready?
I barely even...
Barely touched it!
You know! You love cheese, don't you?
Guys, cheese is like my favorite thing.
I'll give you some, but it's not open yet.
We're not to that step quite yet. Let me get prepared.
Oh! I almost forgot! We need an egg as well.
The first thing we're going to do, is take a little bowl and crack this egg and kind of whip it up.
Now, to that egg we are going to add about three quarters of a cup of our fresh ricotta cheese.
We're going to mix this together.
Once you have that all mixed up, you can add a little bit of Italian seasoning.
You don't have to. It's optional, but I'm adding a little bit.
Oh! What is this you say? There's a little bit of cheese left in here.
It's not like we saved it for anybody.
Memphis first, because she's older.
Oh my goodness!
Alright! I'll get you some too.
Are you ready?
Good stuff?
Alright! Let me throw the spoon in the sink.
Spoon in the sink!
This is all mixed up.
Now, we are going to set this aside and prepare some more stuff.
Now, I'm going to prepare my pan.
Since I'm not using a spring foam pan, I'm going to line this with aluminum foil,
so it will be easier to lift the lasagna up and out of this pan.
I don't really want to cut it inside of here without some type of protection,
because I don't want to wreck my pan.
I'm going to line this with some aluminum foil right now.
Ta-da! By all means, it's not going to be perfect.
As you can see, it hangs over on the side here and here.
Hopefully, when it's all done and cooled a little bit,
I should be able to lift it right up out of this pan.
Now, we have all of our layers ready.
As I said, this was a pasta sauce that I made.
Actually, it has mushrooms in it as well.
I think it's going to make this delicious.
Now, we are going to take the noodles.
As you can see, this is a round pan.
These noodles are not round.
We are going to have to break them up a little bit as we put them in here.
That's okay! Just break them up and try to cover the bottom of the pan.
It will probably look something like this.
We're not going for perfection.
This is all going to cook together, so it will work out perfectly fine.
Now, we're going to go ahead with our layers.
This is how our layers are going to work.
You want about a third of your sauce,
a third of your ricotta mixture,
a third of your mozzarella cheese.
The parmesan is going on top at the end.
Right now, it's going to be meat sauce, ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese.
You know, I opened the bag.
You weren't in here when I opened the bag though.
I couldn't give you any.
You can have one now.
You can have some too.
Okay! Now, I got to get this stuff ready.
Alright!
Meat mixture.
We're going to spread that around.
Meat mixture down and spread around.
If you just want to use regular pasta sauce without meat,
because you're vegetarian, you can always do that too.
Time for the ricotta!
We're going to spread this around as well.
Looks delicious!
Now, about a third of the mozzarella cheese.
Repeat!
Noodles.
Ricotta.
Mozzarella.
Repeat!
Noodles.
Pasta sauce.
Ricotta.
Mozzarella.
Since this is the top layer,
about a third of a cup of grated parmesan cheese.
Spread that all around real nice.
Now, we're going to wrap this in aluminum foil.
Look at that! It looks like Christmas!
Now, we're going to set the pan on our silicone tray.
We're going to go ahead and add one cup of water to the bottom of our instant pot.
Take our little...
Look at this! This is so cool!
Set it right down inside the pot.
Close the lid.
Set your instant pot on high pressure for 25 minutes, not 120 minutes.
I'm going to make this go down to 25 minutes.
There we go! 25 minutes!
Also, make sure your vent is properly closed.
Just let it go!
Now, we wait!
Waiting is the hardest part!
The best kitchen helpers ever!
Alright! 25 minutes has passed.
Now, we're going to let this naturally vent for 10 minutes.
Can you wait 10 more minutes for food?
Are you excited?
I never make you lasagna!
You can't open it yet though, right?
No! We got to wait 10 minutes!
If we open it now, it will explode!
It's a pressure cooker!
It won't really explode!
That's what everybody will tell you!
I mean, pressure cookers can explode!
This one is smart!
Hopefully, it will beep before it explodes!
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
We're going to explode!
Alright! We got to wait now!
Alright! 10 minutes is up!
Now, we're gonna take this fun thing and scare Jamie with it. Ready?
Oh, look at that!
It didn't do anything!
Hahaha!
Jamie, I made the dogs jump.
It naturally vented!
Alright, let's see what it looks like.
Woo-hoo-hoo!
So now, we're actually gonna take and we're going to broil this.
Just to brown that cheese up a little bit on the top.
So, we're gonna stick it in our oven on a low broil for about two to three minutes.
We'll show you what it looks like after.
Alright! So, we broiled it in the oven for a little bit.
Now, let's see if we can get this thing out of the pan.
Well, it looks pretty delicious!
We got our lasagna and our garlic bread and now it's time to give it a try.
Woo! It's all cheesy when we cut it.
Looks pretty good!
Taste test time!
Thoughts?
Crazy, right?
Yeah, there's nothing different about it.
I mean...
Hahaha!
I guess I'm speechless. It tastes exactly like it's supposed to.
Have I ever made you lasagna before?
No, I haven't.
So, if it's good, it's a win, right?
Yeah, right?
I don't, but this is actually really good.
Remember when I made the spaghetti sauce?
I said, this would actually be good as lasagna.
This is the spaghetti sauce I made the other day that was left over.
Yeah, it kind of tastes a little bit like lasagna and spaghetti.
Right, right!
It's really good! Good job! It's a win!
Thanks! Yay!
I'm gonna eat my food now.
Alright you guys! Well, there you have it!
