Hey there everyone, my name is Jenna. Welcome or welcome back to the channel.
In today's video, we are going to be decorating my space for spring and I picked up a couple of
new budget-friendly pieces that have a very high-end elevated feel to them. So I'm going
to show you how I incorporate those into my space and my decorating and just give you some fun
styling ideas for the new season. So I hope you all enjoy and without further ado, let's get into
Okay, so if you all remember not that long ago, I restyled our living room and I'm really loving
how it looks right now with all of this simple season neutral decor and I worked for a while
finding the right details and accents that complemented the space. So I don't really want
to change up too much right now and I figured this was the perfect room to show you all just
by adding a couple of simple affordable spring stems. It can really help to freshen up and change
the entire look of the space without having to do much. So I'm actually going to keep these rustic
olive stems in place and then just add my florals in along with them to give the arrangement a more
gathered feel. And for the stems, I just picked up five of these gorgeous delphinium stems and I love
how they have just a little tiny tint of pink for a soft pop of color but still appear really soft
and kind of neutral and also we are still actively working on our built-ins so that's why you just
see the toe kicks and exposed electrical behind me but hopefully we can make some more progress on
those soon. So like I said, I just used five stems in total and I just mixed those in with the olive
branches and I was super impressed by the lifelike quality of these and honestly they look like stems
that I've seen on designer sites for like 10 times the price. So just a really beautiful and budget
friendly addition to this space that gives off that whimsical elevated spring-like feel with a
touch of color but still blends in with the rest of my decorating. Okay so next I cleared off the
open shelves in our kitchen so that I could do a little clean and I figured this would be the
perfect opportunity to restyle them for the spring and summer months and honestly when we installed
these shelves I thought it would be dealing with a lot more dust than I do and truthfully cleaning
these has been very manageable and I like that it gives me an excuse to change up the decor and play
with a little bit of restyling every once in a while. So something that I love to decorate with
when it comes to shelving or just decorating something up on the top of a cabinet or armoire
is trailing greenery and I just grabbed this little antique butcher block board that I found
at a vintage shop back in North Carolina and adding a little tray or a riser is one of my biggest tips
when it comes to decorating. It's almost always going to help elevate the look of your decorating
and just make little moments of decor feel so much more intentionally styled. So here I just
grabbed this pothos plant that I scored on the clearance rack a while back and I love how this
adds a different line of sight to our shelf styling. It just helps to break up the horizontal
plane that everything sits on and when you're styling shelves adding variation to your heights
and lines really makes a difference. So speaking of that I wanted to add some height and weight
with a photo frame just propped against the wall. Okay so if you all remember I just did this really
quick still life sketch when I was initially styling these shelves just to kind of have
something you know an original piece of art on the shelf but for spring I'm kind of feeling like
I want to swap it out maybe something a little bit more colorful a little bit more sunny like
maybe a landscape photo. I've always been really inspired by my grandma's watercolor and I've just
done watercolor very casually you know maybe I make a card or two or I just do a little practice
painting nothing too crazy but I feel like this is the time when I want to try to make something
for my home for the first time so we're gonna try our hand at it maybe something like mediterranean
inspired just to kind of like fit with the theme of this kitchen. So I want to go try that really
quick and see if we can come up with something just a little bit more spring like. Okay so we
may have skipped spring and just jumped right into summer but that's okay I ended up deciding
on trying to do a watercolor referencing this photo that I took in Santorini Greece
except I'm going to use some artistic freedom here and omit the cute little balcony and patio area
and just substitute a bougainvillea vine in its place just because I don't think I have that skill
level yet to define those details but I figured this photo was a good starting point just to kind
of infuse that mediterranean feel into the space and was a good excuse to get some more practice in.
Okay so overall I was pretty happy with how this turned out.
I still want to hone my techniques a little bit more but for that spring summer punch of
color in the kitchen I thought this piece would do the trick for now and then again just thinking
about silhouettes and height I added in this sculptural pitcher for that touch of contrast
and the twiggy stems add that height and a pop of greenery for spring and then in addition to
the aesthetic decor I also obviously like to layer in my practical items that I actually use in the
kitchen so here I just added my hammered glass pitcher and then the set of textured hammered
glasses to go with it and because these items are glass they just add some visual interest and
practicality but they don't really interfere with the painting at all since you can see right through
them and I like having more of that layered look in my shelf styling. So next I recently picked up
these adorable scalloped pasta bowls perfect for spring and I loved the rustic glaze on them and
thought they looked beautiful when they were all stacked together so it would be a shame to hide
them in the cabinets and I thought it was a nice mix of materials just layering some ceramics in
there and speaking of materials one of my all-time favorite materials to add to a space are wovens so
I have these woven seagrass chargers that I love to use in my tablescapes but I thought they look
beautiful just stacked against the wall here to infuse more of that like casual earthy feel with
natural seagrass and I love how doing this almost acts like a little natural art piece just propped
up against the wall and then next if you all remember I found this beautiful handmade casserole
dish at a local antique mall and this was actually the piece that inspired the blue and white accents
in our kitchen so naturally I feel like it needs to be out on display and then to fill in the last
little spot here I added in my favorite wine glasses again with that really interesting and
beautiful silhouette so now on the other side I kept things pretty similar with just a couple of
small changes you know I store my rice and my oats that I use in our weekly cooking up here
and then a new addition that I thought was so perfect for spring was this Sicilian cookbook
and I'm not gonna lie I bought this solely for the imagery on the cover just because I envisioned
this in a little easel up on the shelf to again infuse that Mediterranean feel into the space
and then if you all remember when I went thrifting I found this handmade teacup
and I decided to display it in a little cloche that I had with a faux succulent inside
just for something kind of fun and unexpected and then I just added in some decorative storage books
that I use to store my written recipe cards in and then also our very glamorous daily fiber
supplement and that is it just a simple little shelf refresh for spring using a lot of items
that I already had mixing up the materials and paying close attention to the height and balance
of all of the items together as a whole. Okay so the next space that I wanted to spruce up for the
springtime was our breakfast nook and I've mentioned this before but we bought this furniture for our
previous rental home and it fit really well in that space with the black and white checkered
floor but it doesn't so much go with the aesthetic in this home and we are going to eventually redo
this space when time and budget allows but for now I found that a great way to add a little
punch of brightness and personality on a budget is just to add a tablecloth and I thought that
the gingham one was perfect for spring just a little punch of pattern and it's still neutral
but something a little bit more interesting so just a friendly reminder if you're in a transition
period with a furniture piece or a room you don't love there's always something small that you can
do to make it a little bit more appealing until you can get it exactly the way you want it so
here for this space I wanted to show you all two options with a floral centerpiece and for the
first one if you all remember in my thrifting my spring decor video I found this really sweet
footed bowl and made this floral arrangement out of it and I didn't really show you how I made the
arrangement but it was only $25 worth of flowers from Trader Joe's and this is perfect if you're
hosting for Easter or you're just having a spring gathering four guests over and you want to do
something a little bit more creative and unique for the flower selection I just picked out one
piece of greenery and then I grabbed some butterfly ranunculus for the smaller more whimsical looking
flowers or you could just use something like these small white ones but I picked out two larger scale
flowers like these ball mums incarnations the key here is just really having a mix of statement
flowers that are larger and then some smaller scale flowers just something that has more of
that rustic wildflower look to it so I started by adding my water and the flower food that came with
the flowers and the key to this arrangement was this floral wire netting this was so helpful for
easily adding structure and it just makes it easy to arrange the flowers you know you can easily
swap things around if you need to so definitely recommend this stuff for footed bowl arrangements
like this so I started by adding in the base greenery and I just layered it around the base
of the bowl and I will say the one negative of this is it is a lot harder to change out the water
but I did mine and it lasted without changing the water for like five days but you could always
change out the water if you had more time to kind of take everything out and rearrange it
but after the greenery I just put in my large statement stems so just making sure everything
is balanced and then I'm filling in all of the larger gaps with those larger flowers and then
once I was happy with how all of the big flowers were arranged I added in my more whimsical smaller
scale flowers and I just like to have these sticking out a little bit not a ton but just
enough to give the arrangement some height kind of like it has little bursts of the smaller flowers
reaching out to give some depth and movement to the piece and that's really all there is to it
that's how you can make an elegant centerpiece arrangement for spring in a footed bowl on a
budget and this is perfect for a party or a gathering or just to make for someone as a gift
but again this was the more involved temporary floral piece so next I want to show you the more
practical floral centerpiece and how I have this table styled majority of the time so again I just
like to start with this vintage breadboard to use as a base to corral everything trays and risers
are your best friend especially when you're styling things on a table or a countertop I also
love that this one has some wear on it so it gives my space more of that old world European feel that
I love and speaking of old world rustic vibes I found this textured ceramic planter for only $12
and I just love the rustic look that it has and all of the beautiful subtle earthy texture on it
I also liked that it was on the smaller side so it's better for places like a table nightstand or
a bathroom countertop and when it comes to faux stems I'm always drawn to the super realistic
ones that look like they were just cut out of a wildflower field somewhere for that casually
gathered look I also love the muted blue color on these and I feel like a lot of times realistic
faux stems that are blue tend to be very difficult to find so I like that this was a little pop of
lifelike color and I couldn't believe that these stems were only $2.50 each I had five total so
only $12.50 for the whole group that you see here and the base and stems for this permanent
arrangement ended up being cheaper than the thrifted vase and real floral arrangement so
you guys will have to let me know in the comments which one you prefer I personally think they're
both great for different occasions I love something practical that can stay in place
for the entire season but still give off that natural feel but then again real florals are just
so beautiful and special in a way that can't be replicated and one of my favorite tabletop design
hacks is just fanning out napkins in a bowl it's such an easy way to make an everyday item feel
so much more elevated and then I just pop on my little salt and pepper shakers and that is it
a super practical yet aesthetic way to style a tabletop that's ready for daily use all right
