THE CAT SITUATION

Good wonderful beautiful morning Pawdience! Your girls are all napping. Like this cooler weather is exactly what the Huskies called for. The only thing that would make it better would be a little bit of snow. I know, it's amazing outside. It's amazing, amazing, and we're all inside anyway. It is nice and cool though. It's finally down to like 68 in the house, which is awesome. Are you mad? Are you mad that we're out here and you're not out here? This is almost picturesque because you like have all the reflections of all the trees on your face. So Jamie got all the little pieces of wood down from up there. Yeah, somebody else's scrap wood project. Yeah, those look nice though. I mean, I'm sure we can use them for something. These will be pumpkin planks. Yeah, I was gonna say that these are the perfect pumpkin planks. Those will definitely have to go for pumpkin planks. We're not, we thought this was possibly a swing. See all of these are all green. But now we're not sure. Yeah, because we would need more of those. Yep. Yeah, you'd need more of that right? Huh, well not like a full swing. I thought it was like a frame for a swing. So maybe there's something else. Yeah. You'd have to have four of them. Yeah. There's four of... There's four of these little things. And four of these things. Hmm. So if anybody knows what this maybe was, let us know in the comments below. We know it's just scrap wood, but... Yep, that's pretty much what it is now. But we're not sure what it was. So that's all the fun stuff that was up in the garage attic. Interesting. And a lot of cobwebs. Cobwebs, yeah I bet. There's more wood down in the corner over there. That we took down, that we blocked the chipmunk. Oh yeah. I know there's a little more wood in there. But none of it was green, so we still don't know what that is. Yeah, I don't think any of it was. Very interesting. Yeah, even these. These will make good pumpkin planks too. Sweet. Okay, so this might work. So this is an old Dutch oven. That was Greg's. That got pretty rusty. And since we're going camping in like seven days, we're trying to bring it back to life. Which is actually very possible to do with cast iron. So Jamie's been heating it up over the fire. And then, did you sand blast it already too? Uh yeah, I sanded it down. So he like sanded it down a little bit, and then we've been cleaning it out to clean up some of the rust. And now what we're gonna do, is we're gonna take some of this stuff, which is actually Lodge seasoning spray. It's actually made for these pans. Oh, that one turned out really good. This one's better. Yeah, once we get that coating back on it, it should look pretty good. So yeah, we're treating some of these pans, so maybe we can use them when we go camping. Just rinse this one off. Yeah. Yeah, that one's already looking pretty nice. Just gonna spray it up. So what you do is, you can use the spray or you can use vegetable oil. And you basically have to re-season the pans. Yeah, these are not for boiling water. No. No. That's gonna, hopefully that'll work. Then maybe Greg can make us something while we're camping. What? Do you want out here? You gotta wait a minute until there's not hot pans on the ground. What is that Shelby? Is that your little pool? Can you guys fill the little pool? I got the cover on the big pool. Cause it's getting kind of cold out. So we figured we might as well cover the big pool for a little bit. And we're going to a wedding so we won't be here for a day or two. We try to keep it covered so it doesn't get bugs in it. But Shelby's like, this is a pool and there should be a hose in it. Is that what you're looking for? Yeah, I figured that's what you're looking for. Are you looking for water in the little pool too? That's the smallest pool we have and that's the pool you wanna play in? You goofy dogs. I keep finding all these little apples all over the place. You're not doing a very good job hiding them this year if I can keep finding them. She's like, oh wait, this one? I'm gonna hide this one. This one can go in this hole. But you're supposed to bury it. I can see it. You forgot the part where you bury it. I'm so surprised we don't have a million apple trees growing underneath here. Because of all the apples she's put back here. You goofy girl. Goofy girl. Shelby, are you dancing? Run Shelby, run! Look how happy she is. You're so funny. Let's go back inside. So Friday's video with the cats. A lot of you guys had a lot of comments. It was sad. I thought it was sad too. It's sad. The sad real part of it though is that... I don't know... There's been three other cat hordes in the past few months. A lot of you were saying, get them to rescues and other shelters. There's no place for them to go. We've already looked. We're working with the SOS Shelley Orleys shelter in Hillman. She's a cat rescue. She has exhausted all of her leads. She's full. All the rescues she's good with are full. Our local shelter won't help. Anyway... So sadly, there's no place for them to go. It sucks that what might have to happen, might have to happen. Like I said, if you guys know anybody that lives around Michigan that wants a kitty. There's a whole bunch of kitties. Like thirty of them. At least one has gotten adopted. I think one or two more might have gotten adopted today. I'm waiting for Michelle to message me back and let me know. Hopefully a couple more of them have now been adopted. She's putting a bunch of pictures up on the Alpena County Animal Control Facebook page. Hopefully more of them will get adopted. Again, we're just trying to spread the word as much as we can about the cats. You guys comments were absolutely amazing on that video. I cried. I totally cried. I love animals. Jamie and I talked about it. It's impossible for us to have a cat. It just wouldn't be worth it to take the chance to have it here and have something happen if it got loose and was with the dog. We absolutely cannot take a cat. We can do what we can to try to help them find homes. Part of it is this. If you know anybody in Michigan that wants a cat. There's a whole bunch of them. The biggest thing is... The reason I shared it is... One, I think it needs to be talked about. Two, I think education on these things is extremely important. I don't think enough people talk about it. A lot of people think... I give my cat to the Animal Control or a shelter and they'll be fine. That's not real. Yes, there are no-kill shelters. But even at that, the no-kill shelters... Our local shelter is a no-kill shelter. They have cats that have been there for like five or six years. That aren't getting adopted. Some of them aren't adoptable. Some of them are just basically now shelter cats. They're not super friendly. They probably never will be adopted. Then you got these thirty cats that are at the Animal Control building. They are adoptable. Some of them are scared, but they are friendly. Those cats are... If they don't get out of there, they are going to die. But cats that have been in the shelter for five to six years... Because it's a no-kill shelter... Just get to stay living in the shelter? I mean, what kind of life is that either? You know? I don't know. It's very conflicting for me. I don't think any of them should have to die. The realistic of it is, there's no place for them to go. There's no place for them to go. If you know anybody... Again, help us out! Leave some comments down below. Reach out to some shelters, maybe close to the area. Let them know. Thank you for all the amazing comments. Those of you that have reached out and contacted us... To try to help the situation. Get your pets spayed and neutered. Be responsible pet owners. If you don't want to get your pets spayed and neutered, that's fine. Just don't let them interact with other pets... That also aren't spayed or neutered. Hopefully that helps. It's just sad. It's ridiculous. Here! Puppies! We need puppies! We need puppies because there's too much sad. Too much sad going on right now. It's sad! It sucks! It sucks to think about the fact that they're there and they're... Hoarders suck! The people that... What's sad about the situation is the people that had these cats really had good intentions when they started. But the mistake they made was they didn't get them fixed. Cats that they tried to save, made more cats. Which made more cats. Which made more cats. Now we have thirty cats that need homes. So... Day two. Talking about cats. This is Snow Dogs Vlogs, right? We're talking about sad kitties. Realistically though, if you guys do know of anybody that wants a cat or anybody in or near Michigan that may be able to find a rescue that may take some of these cats, Jamie and I have offered to transport some of them if they can find a place for some of them to go. That's about all we can do. That and we're working with friends of ours to hopefully make things better for our local animal control. Oh! That was the other thing. Some of you had mentioned, why can't they just stay at the animal control building? Our animal control building is not set up to be a shelter. It's only set up to hold animals for a few days. We are hopefully working with some people to make it so that building can get the correct ventilation and the correct cleaning equipment and things like that. So that eventually they will be able to hold animals for longer. It's going to be a long slow process and it all costs money. As we go further into that project and hopefully helping them out and doing what we can. I'll definitely let you guys know. We'll probably do some GoFundMe pages and some t-shirt fundraisers and maybe some photo contests with donation voting. Things like that. Hopefully to help them raise some money for a shelter. Anyway, I've talked too long about the cat skin. It's making me sad, but look at this cuteness. Look at this cuteness right here. They're so cute and that big fluffy butt right there laying down. Look at all the cuteness. Since we are going to a wedding tomorrow Greg is going to be watching the dogs overnight because we're actually spending the night up north. Him and I just went grocery shopping so he would have some food here. Now I'm making some pizza for dinner. Some Bosco sticks and some white sauce pizza. We're going to put chicken and bacon and broccoli and stuff on it. It'll be amazing. Doesn't that look amazing? Now I just have to put cheese on top. White sauce pizza is one of my favorite kinds of pizza. This looks so good and I'm so hungry. Check that out. Pizza and bread sticks. It smells delicious. Let's have some dinner. Watch.
