ROCK HOUNDS | Camping with Dogs 4/22/2017

♪♪♪ Good morning Pawdience! We're camping and I thought I would show you the routine for the dog food. So, when we bring the dogs camping, I always buy a little bit of canned dog food. So, that they'll actually eat it. If you notice, Shelby's is almost all canned dog food. That's cause she's super picky when she goes camping. We just gotta make sure she eats. So, I start her off with a lot of canned dog food. Then, by the time we leave, she gets about half and half. Oh, I know! You guys want breakfast? Let's have some breakfast. Alright, so Greg and I had to head into town. Which mind you, is 24 miles away from the campground. To get like five things. Including marshmallows, which is the most important. None of the rest of the stuff matters. I thought there was something else important. Just some marshmallows. That's all you care about. Oh yeah! Marshmallows and coffee. So, we headed to town. Jamie's back at the campground with the dogs. We're gonna go get some stuff. Quick little run to the store. Now, we're back! The dogs are outside. Enjoying some fun in the sun. Well, sort of. They're kind of in the shade. What you think? Oakley, you can make it on the mat. She's like, I can, but I just want to lay in the dirt. It's absolutely gorgeous outside today. Greg and I were in town. There's internet access in town and it said that Northern Lights should be out again tonight. So, we're hoping to see the lights again tonight. So, the boys went rock picking again. I'm hanging out with the girls. I think we're gonna go walk around the campground and pick up some firewood. Like little sticks and stuff. Cause there's a lot of stuff that's fallen down from the trees. A lot of the dry stuff that we can use for a fire later. I know! So, I think that's what we're gonna do. Especially cause this one is a little riled up. Either that or it's just because I'm at her level. Oh, you're at my level, Penny! Oh, yeah? I think that might be it too. There's Chipmunk friend. Shelby saw him. He just went down in that hole right there. There was another one behind the... No, we're not going... He can't go in his hole. There he goes! He's talking to you. He's on that tree. See him over there? See him on the tree? Right at the base of the tree. There he goes! Another one is right here in this hole. So, we're not gonna let Memphis near that hole. Or you. Chipmunk friend followed us camping. There! That will help later. Figures since... They're out rock hunting. I'll take the dogs for a nice walk around the campground. They are Urban Mushing Harnesses. That is what I use when I walk the dogs. We're just kind of... Checking out the campground. Not that we haven't been here before. I thought we were gonna get lucky. There were some geese. There's a turkey vulture up there. They were on the trail right in front of us. The geese decided it was smart to not stay there. With three huskies coming right at them. I just got back from a walk with the dogs. Somebody spoiled. It's not one of these two. Oakley does not want to lay on the mat. When she lays right here, there's no shade. I got out her umbrella. She's in a position where I can't put it on the ground. I stuck it between the Jeep and the camper. It gives her the perfect amount of shade. You are loved so much. You don't even know. I actually have two of those umbrellas that I bought just for Oakley. Just in case. Yep. I love you fluffy butt. Did you guys go jeeping without me? It appears so. What did you find? Anything good? No. There's a whole bag of rocks. She had to find something good. That is pretty cool. It will look nice at the house. That is really cool. Bags of rocks. Find anything super cool? Some that were close. I think that other people that are here camping are down there looking for rocks right now. This one was close. Look at all the rocks you got. Here's a weird stripey one. That is a weird stripey rock. This one wanted to be an agate when it grew up but it didn't make it. I tried but it didn't happen. I thought this one was funny too. Is it red or is it green? That's so cool. Is it red or is it green? It's an indecisive rock. It looks like it's burnt on both sides. No agates. The dogs were good. Look at them. They're exhausted. I had to put Oakley's umbrella up because she wouldn't lay under the... Like Greg says. It wanted to be an agate but it just wasn't. The rocks are there. This one was close too. It's got some little stripes. Still got time to do more looking. Maybe we'll find some yet. We're coming down to the lake to get some footage. Check it out. Greg's watching the other two dogs. We brought Memphis because she was having a fit. She's the baby so I guess she gets to go. What happened Memphis? Did that wave try to get you? Check it out. Go get it. Hurry up. It's gonna get you. That water's gotta be cold. It's Lake Superior. I have a feeling that water is freezing cold. Memphis don't care. We're coming to check out some of the erosion that happened over the winter. It's so crazy how much land has fallen down. This is crazy how much of this has fallen down. It's not just that. Yeah, like how high the lake is too. That's pretty crazy. It looks cool though. Such a nice day. What do you think Memphis? Are you having a good time? She's like, I'm rock hunting guys. I'm rock hunting. I'm not finding anything though. So here's some information about the ever changing shoreline. You guys wanna learn more about it? Pause it and read it. Windy evenings will bring out rock hounds searching for newly exposed agates and other treasures. Yep, sure does. So Jamie is replacing the lock on our camper. Not because we have to, but because we want to. It's actually a number pad lock which will be pretty stinking cool. What do you girls think? We can lock you in. Because we tend to forget the key to the camper at times. This will make it easier to lock it and unlock it. As long as we always test the lock before we leave the house. Kinda like checking the tires, which I did. I did! Well, we did. We both did. We just, apparently one still decided to be a jerk. Look at sleepy Oakley. Greg's building us a fire so we can have lunch. So we have a variety of food going on. I'm having a hot dog. Greg's having a pickled sausage and Jamie is having a pie iron sandwich. Which is normally my favorite thing to eat, but I don't know. I just wanted a hot dog. Not done yet. Not done yet. I forgot my pie iron cookbook too. That's alright. We know what to do. We know how the instructions work. So I think we're gonna have some lunch and then... Are you guys going rock hunting again? They might go down rock hunting. I'm gonna hang out up here with the Pupsters. Might take another jog around the campground. Can't use the other word cause they'll know what I'm saying. And then wait for those pretty northern lights to come out again. I hope. I hope. I hope. I hope. Some of these clouds need to get the heck out of here though. Somebody exploded all over the campground. It was Shelby. The boys just went rock picking. Forgot to show you. Jamie got the new lock on the door. He's just gotta clean up around it. But now we got a new lock on the door. Which is kinda cool. Comes with like a push button so you can open it. Or you can use numbers. Or you can use a key. Kinda nice. Pretty snazzy. Yeah. We're all just hanging out. Hoping the clouds stay away. And just enjoying this beautiful weather. It is gorgeous. We have been so lucky today. So lucky. Look! Boys got more rocks. Okay. That one's just rock. Guys got more rocks. Oh that one's cool. Where's the new ones? The new ones versus the ones we showed earlier. Yep. You guys are definitely rock hounds. Oh yeah. These are the ones that wanted to be... Oh well. Is that another camper coming? Oh no. It's a boat. Somebody coming with a boat. The dogs are taking a nap in the camper. It got a little warm out here in the sun. So they're napping. Look at that cute girl. She's like oh it's just napping in the camper. You're napping in the camper. Oakley's napping in the camper. Oh they're so smart. Greg's napping in the camper. You guys are so cute. Look at how cute these girls are. Look we can see that fire going outside. Look at... We just had dinner. Now we're waiting for it to get dark. Hopefully to go see some northern lights. There's a fox. It just ran across the road. There it goes right there. Oh there it goes. He's running. He's running. He's running. Is he gonna cross again? There's a fox. There he goes. How cool was that? It was cool. Oh that was so cool. Greg and I are going to take some pictures of northern lights and we just saw a fox. Jamie missed it. Aww. Well at least I got it on camera. I can share it with him. He's watching the dogs. We're going to see if we can find northern lights again. What was I gonna say? We saw some northern lights but it was really cloudy so we decided we're just gonna go back to the campground. Which is actually over there. Wow look at all the mud on his window. Yeah we're pretty much just across from the campground right here where we're at. Did I wake you up? Your tongue is hanging way out. I seriously woke you up didn't I? Shelby. Shelby look at me. Your tongue is hanging out. How do you... I don't understand. How do you do that? Oh you silly thing. Hey Shelby. Your tongue is sticking out. Did I like wake you up from the deepest sleep ever? Aww there you go. You fixed it. You're so funny. I don't know how you managed to do that. You go back to sleep now. I'll shut the lights back off. Aww it's the biggest yawn ever. Okay go back to sleep. Alright the dogs just went potty for the last time. Now we're gonna see if they know how to go to bed in the camper. Go to bed. Memphis is like Up here? Go to bed. Up here? Even Oakley figured out. She's like check it out. On my bed. There you go. You get bed night snacks. Bed night snacks. Good night snacks. There you go. Alright you guys. We hope you had fun with us today. We're going to bed.
