This one's the valedictorian medal.
And then this is salutatorian.
And it has our names on the back.
And now it's my greatest honor
to present the class of 2026's
valedictorian,
my twin sister, Tia Chris.
Our entire academic
journey, Jazzy and I were always
doubtful of our capabilities,
but I think it's important to
keep trying and push forward because you never
know where your journey may lead you.
My sister Jazzy
for being today's salutatorian.
Thank you for being my constant.
Hi, my name is Tia Chris.
Hi, my name is Jazzy Chris. And we're twin sisters.
We go to
Chaney University, which is the first
HBCU. We've been working
really hard this semester and
for our entire college journey.
Our parents always
instilled in us the discipline
to maintain our grades and how important
grades are to get you places. And so
this year that's when we heard about
us being in the running for valedictorian.
My father passed away recently.
Everything I've accomplished
is rooted in the discipline, belief
and hunger that he and my mother instilled
in me. And so I got an
email and I found out I was going to be
valedictorian. And I found out I was going to
be salutatorian as well.
I'm just like really proud of her. I'm proud of
myself. I'm proud of her. And it's just nice that
we can share it together.
Chaney University is the first and
oldest HBCU in America.
It started in 1837.
The Chris sisters
are just wonderful young women.
They actually represent the
student body here. Members of the
class of 2026.
I happen to have twin
granddaughters, so I said
I want them to emulate these two young ladies
as twins and do the same
kinds of things that they've done and
eventually come to Chaney University.
And then this is the Fine Arts Society.
When you see young people
that are putting forth their best,
totally involved, totally engaged,
it encourages other students
who may not be as motivated.
So I see them as role models along
with academically being talented.
So we
both applied to graduate school
to get our MBA and we got accepted
into West Chester University.
So that's where we'll be going in the fall.
After that, I want to go into
the insurance industry
as an underwriter. And I want to
lean more towards marketing or
fashion.
I think it'll be hard sort of
branching away from each other, but
we'll always have each other's back.
Congratulations class of
2026. Good luck.
Thank you.
